Chapter 12 - As Expected

'Now that I'm thinking about it, how come Fenrir doesn't have a Bloodline?' Emily thought.

She knew she should be focusing on her important decision, but this was nagging at her. Both the silver-Eyed and the Copy had bloodlines, even abilities. Though the Copy's ability no longer exist.

Point was why didn't Fenrir have those? She's a mythic grade werewolf for god's sake. Emily frowned, and thought of something, she looked up, tried to appraise the red moon.

She switched off her appraisal instantly, and quietly groaned. She smoothed the splitting headache by trying to act nonchalant. It was only for a second, but it felt like the moon's gravitational force was splitting her mind apart.

If she didn't react fast enough, she fears she might have fractured her mind. She made a solemn promise to never do that again. But thanks to her little experiment, she made an educated guess why her appraisal didn't show Fenrir's entire stats.

'I really should settle down, and learn more about my Symbiotes, this was embarrassing.'

Emily felt eyes on her, and realised, she had been quiet for awhile now, eying the Copy. She exhaled, and turned to Phil, "here's your werewolf, there's an apartment close by, let's go there. You guys, will discuss what to do without killing each other. And as for me, I have my own shit to worry about."

She looked at everyone, and they all agreed. She nodded, and went to grab the Copy by it's leg, and dragged it towards her destination. Fenrir took hold of the other werewolf, and Phil's group followed her and Fenrir from behind.

On her destination, she wondered what she should do about Phil, it's true his motives came from protecting the person he loves most. But could she be willing to keep that type of time bomb close to her?

More than useful lackeys, she wants people she knows she can trust, and could never betray her. And the slight fear of her isn't something that could achieve that, especially when there's a stronger emotion, twisted love.

That's the category she places both Phil and her father. This two would go as far, as killing innocent people to ensure the safety of their loved one's, Emily has no problem when that kind of love is directed her way. But if it's directed at someone else, it's a problem.

'Then I have no choice, I will have to turn Phil's sister into my own Companion. Spying on her brother would be her job.'

She could make Phil her Companion, but that didn't seat right with her. A girl Companion felt right, if Fenrir had turned out to be a boy, she would've outrightly killed her. It would be nothing personal.

They stopped before an abandoned apartment building, before moving along.

"Hey stop there, why did we pass by that apartment building?" Heidi exclaimed behind them.

Emily didn't stop walking, "If you want to go in there, help yourself, I won't stop you."

Emily could've tried to explain why she chose not to go in that apartment building, but for some reason Heidi seemed to annoy her. And among Phil's group she's the most suspicious.

Why did she travel with Phil? Why is it despite finding out Phil's motives after capturing the silver-Eyed, she didn't seem genuinely surprised, but was only accurately reacting to the situation?

She seemed like the cautious, more loner type, that didn't trust anyone. When it came to Jenny, it was clear she also was thinking along the lines of betraying her friends like Phil, but she wouldn't succeed, not because she isn't powerful enough but because she doesn't yet have the stomach.

Haley was dragged along by Jenny, because she's in love with her. Haley didn't strike Emily as the type to risk her own life. She's the type to sacrifice her friends due to her own cowardice, but her crush for Jenny was making her an idiot.

Phil, Jenny, and Haley were easy to read, but Heidi wasn't, and it annoyed her. But she at least knew some secrets she's certain Heidi's friends don't know, thanks to her appraisal.

They finally found a better apartment building, and though it reeked of blood, it had dried up. Not like the previous apartment building they chose not to go in, the blood there was fresh, and it had a scary amount of it.

Emily also heard screams, painful one's, but she wasn't risking her life, for anyone. But she will go back to that apartment after she deals with the Copy business. Out of curiosity that is.

They entered the apartment building, and Emily led them to the sixth floor using the stairs. Then dropped them off in an apartment that didn't reek of any blood.

Fenrir managed to help them get the silver-eyed inside. Then she and Emily took the room besides Phil's group. Emily threw the Copy on the bed, then threw herself beside it. She was tired.

"Fenrir what did you think of that apartment?"

"Disgusting."

"Why do you say so?" Emily was genuinely curious.

"Kill for food, not play," Emily smiled, before she sat up.

She looked at the Copy, and came to a decision, she would make it her Companion for various reason. But the simplest one was that, a Concept that can shape-shift her appearance, didn't quite appeal to her. It was a unreasonable reason, but that's how she felt.

Looking down on the Copy, she exhaled, "I know you're not unconscious, if you decide to feign unconsciousness I will have no choice but to kill you."

The Copy's eyes shot up, and it glared at Emily, but the longer it looked into her eyes, the more doubt became visible in it's own eyes. Emily is always covered by a thin layer of bloodlust, like a second skin.

To the untrained naked eye, it's something easily ignored, making it look like Emily despite her unique appearance, is actually weak. But when you're a werewolf, with a nose sensitive to all kinds of things, you're bound to sense something different about the thin bloodlust fluctuating from Emily's body.

Once a werewolf makes a mistake of sensing Emily's bloodlust. It become increasingly hard to ignore, and the defiance it once had turns into fear instead. To the Copy's eyes though Emily remained nonchalant facing her, a beastly blood red aura was emitting from her body, growing in size the longer she continued to stare defiantly at Emily.

"Just how many have you killed?" The Copy whispered, shrinking back in fear.

Emily tilted her head, "hmm, oh you mean you can see my bloodlust? Good for you, and you're wrong, it's not about the number of lifeforms I've killed, but how I learned to intuitively train my bloodlust."

"How is that possible not only to be trained but to be trained to that degree?" The Copy asked, in awe.

Emily just shrugged, she had a vague idea how she came to manipulate her own bloodlust. But she didn't know anything about it, her memories of when she was broken were still in pieces.

"Anyway I'll give you two choices, be my Companion like Fenrir here. And you'll obtain a true human form without the need of shape-shifting, and you'll get even more powerful. Or simply refuse to serve me and die, what's it gonna be?"

The Copy swallowed, "I choose the first option."

"As expected," Emily exclaimed, whilst staring at her blazing hand, with a star shaped imprint, before looking at the terrified Copy, that still couldn't move because of Fenrir's lightning restraints.

She gave the Copy her best reassuring smile, "this is going to hurt," she said before placing her palm on the Copy's forehead. And it's scream reverberated through the apartment walls, shaking the very air and echoing far beyond the room's confines.
