Chapter 41 - Trading

Emily opened her eyes and stared at Lieutenant Chen, who in turn met her gaze. Suddenly, a thought flashed in Emily's mind: Her eyes... they are unusually confident, and that can only mean one of two things: she's either had enough of my tyranny and is planning to do something stupid—which wouldn't surprise me—or she's confident in going against me and living to tell the tale.

Emily frowned and decided to do something she should've done in the first place: she appraised Chen. Ignoring the uncomfortable stares directed her way as Chen glared at her, she activated her ability.

[Error, unable to appraise]

A splitting headache suddenly hit Emily, but compared to the pain she felt when she tried to appraise the Red Moon, this was child's play. She still wasn't able to read Chen's stats, but that wasn't surprising. Based on the odd aura she could now intuitively sense from Chen, she must've made a deal with the devil.
