The girl woke up in a daze, confused. And not understanding what's happening. Her name was Emily, and she had been one of the many victims of the red moon.
It all happened about eight months ago, when the eclipse suddenly occured, and everything went into chaos. All technological equipment stopped working, cars crushed into each other, people died or were mortally injured.
But that wasn't the worst, no the worst came after when the red moon rose from nowhere, bathing people with its crimson light. And that's when people started turning into monsterous creatures, that later called werewolves.
Once changed, a person can never revert back to what, they once were. And they will be nothing more but flesh eating monsters. But Emily was different, she was also tainted by the red moon, but only partially turned.
And throughout the first three months, she retained some of her reason, until an accident occurred that killed her parents and she lost it, she lost herself to the monster, she was trying to keep at bay, and killed and killed, and killed without any clear sign of stopping.
Her reasoning waned with time, and she started forgetting everything about the world, her parents, friends and lastly herself, until now.
After meeting the requirements of the system, she went through excruciating pain, that broke down and healed her body, until the damaged cells of her brain healed, bringing back most of her memories.
She now remembers almost everything, and it only took a minute for the impact of what happened to her, and what she did to survive this long to hit her, but when she did.
She threw up the reminder of the food, she still had left. Hot tears streamed out, as she felt like curling up into a ball. And crying her heart out, until there wasn't anything to cry about.
But though she felt like that, and though tears were streaming down her face. She was as empty, only a hollow shell of who she used to be—a human being.
She felt the change in her, that had nothing to do with the metamorphosis, and everything to do with what happened to her during the start of the apocalypse.
The flashes of memories of the friends she lost, parents that were taken away from her. And the love of her life who killed herself. Her head tilted up, and through the blurriness of her vision, she glared at the red moon.
She had been happy before the end of the world, but now she was incapable of feeling even the tiniest bit of sadness, and only the last strand of humanity in her was responsible for helping her cry. And feel enough guilt to throw up. But from now on, everything will change.
She got up, and was about to wipe the tears of her face with the back of her hand, when she realised she was covered in blood. And that led to realising she was naked, because her body had grown. And that she had ripped off the little pieces of cloth, she had on when she had been going through the change.
She sighed, and started looking all around her, for place to stay in for the night or day, she really couldn't tell. The sun and the blue moon have not been around for the past eight moons. And Emily could barely remember how they used to schedule time for when to sleep, after all not all her memories we back.
She saw a building up ahead, that was slightly better than the many buildings surrounding her. She headed there, whilst her body instinctively adjusted to her knew found inhuman strength.
"I'm no longer human, am I?" She muttered to herself.
She found the building and headed inside, it was an apartment building. She went to the second floor through the stairs, and entered the first apartment she could see that didn't reek of blood.
In the hallway there was death everywhere, and the smell of rotten bodies. She closed the door behind, and headed straight for the bathroom, there she found water in the bathtub.
It appeared someone had been preparing to shower, before everything went to shit. Emily figured another person's misfortune, is her gain. Though the water was now cold, she barely felt it, when she entered.
She cleansed herself of the filth, and was done before long. She dried herself and went to the bedroom to look for some clothes. But all she managed to find that could fit her, was a long t-shirt.
She sat down on the bed unbothered, and figured, she could find some clothing store on her journey to a human settlement after coming up with a plan on what to do from now on.
Except the need to destroy the red moon, she didn't anything else to to live for, and she couldn't find any motivation to only live for revenge. It felt like the most depressing way to live.
She tiredly exhaled, and laid down on her back and just blank stared at the ceiling.
"What to do now?"
[Ding~ ding~ ding~ host has successfully survived the metamorphosis. The Golden Moon sees promise in you, young Emily and so, it will like to gift you a reward, what is it that you need?]
Emily stared at the holographic golden screen that appeared in front of her eyes, and had ask her a question. She barely reacted to the system, and just closed her eyes to think deeply about anything she desires besides revenge.
A desire, a reason or need to continue moving forward. And she came up with a single word that could barely encapsulate what she truly felt.
"A companion.. I think that's all I need."
[I'm sorry the Golden Moon is unable to gift you that—]
"Useless.."
[But it can gift you a Symbiote that will help you realise desire to come true.]
"What kind of Symbiote? Actually before answering that, what is a Symbiote to begin with?"
[Host will have to learn for herself what a Symbiote is with the system's guide. All you'll have to do is say 'Status' and everything will be clear after that. After all I'm not the system A.I just the administrator.
Anyway, as for you first question a system notification will tell in just a second. Good luck Emily Wolff, till we talk again.]
"Wolff? Since when?"
[Ding~ ding~ ding~ Host has awakened your Sixth Symbiote, Titled: Companion..]
