Chereads / Nova (werewolf with golden eyes) / Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

"Nova! Wait!" He called after me but he didn't dare to stop me.

I was so angry that I couldn't control my golden eyes. I quickly walked towards the house without looking up. I ran into the house, grabbed my things and went out into the dark street. I caught a passing taxi and drove to the outskirts of town. I walked for some time, going deeper into the forest.

This was the fifth time Dan had called me. I glared at the phone, wanting to smash it into a nearby tree. However, I decided that it would be enough to change the card. However, I waited for the right time to call my aunt one last time and tell her that I had left.

The phone rang again. This time it was someone else calling. Someone who made me suffer so much right now. I answered.

"What do you want?" I tried to stop myself from crying.

"Where are you?!" His voice boomed. I looked at the phone.

"It was a mistake. I should have stayed away from you.."

"Nova, where are you?" This time his voice was gentle. "Let's talk"

"Don't you think you've had enough time to talk?! You weren't able to tell me about your partner!" I couldn't stand it and shouted into the phone. "You didn't think I should know about something like that!? Maybe for you I was just a passing game, but for me it was real!" Tears started flowing down my cheeks. "I don't want to know you..." I disconnected the call.

I sat down by a tree and burst into tears. I couldn't even turn into a wolf and run because Stellar still didn't answered.

The day started slowly. I had to calm down to call my aunt before work. She shouldn't know that something was wrong. I took a few deep breaths and cleared my throat. I dialed the number and after a few rings I heard her voice.

"Sorry, auntie, but I had to leave earlier. I'm already a long way from home. I'll call you later as there will be no signal for a while. Take care of yourself and stay healthy"

"Okay Love. Take care of yourself too. I left something for you in the side pocket of your backpack" She said mysteriously. I pulled it towards me and found the envelope. Inside was a thick stack of banknotes.

 "Auntie…"

"I know you wanted to help me by supporting yourself while working, but during this time I saved a little for you, every time I could. You are a wonderful woman and you know how to cope with life. Talk to me sometime" She said tenderly on the phone.

"I love you aunt. Thank you for everything" I smiled through tears, ending the conversation.

Ethan tried to call again, but this time I took out the card and buried it under the leaves. Standing up, I brushed myself off, gathered my things and moved forward.

I reached a small town on the other side of the forest. Luckily, I managed to find a ride. We drove for several hours until we reached one of the larger cities.

There I looked for a cheap place to sleep and that's how I spent my first night away from home, running away from Ethan. I knew I wouldn't forget him easily. I had to find a place for myself and a new job somewhere. But that had to wait until tomorrow. As I fell asleep with a few tears on my cheeks, all hell broke loose in my old club.

After Dan's call, Ethan knew that Roxana's appearance would be a big problem. He found out how big after Dan's second call, in which he heard that Nova had almost strangled Roxana.

Regardless of the amount of work he had left, he took Idris and they went straight to the club. On the way he tried to call Nova but she wasn't answering. He came in, furious, waiting for an answer. Dan told him the whole incident with his head down. Roxana, seeing Alpha, ran to him crying, looking for comfort. However, she did not expect to be brutally pushed away. His darkened eyes showed how angry he was.

"Get the guests out" He growled at the staff, who cleared the people out in a matter of minutes. Only wolves remained in the club. Ethan sat at the bar, nervously tapping his fingers on the counter.

"I'll be extremely generous and let you explain... Why the HELL did you come back!!!" He growled. All the wolves fell to the ground in fear. Roxana carefully raised her head.

"I came back to you... I want to be together again" She wanted to tempt him with her body, but she only passed judgment on herself.

"I accepted your refusal…. I let you go with another…. and now... when everything started to go well for me... you want to be with me?" He said incredibly coldly, slowly approaching her dangerously close. He crouched down next to her, extending his hand towards her.

"I left you alive for nothing" He grabbed her by the neck and broke it! The woman's dead body fell to the ground. He stood up, looking at the others.

"Find her" The coldness in his voice was terrible. He sat down at the bar again, dialing her number.

She answered. He started with anger, but quickly controlled his anger to convince her to meet him. She didn't want to listen. She hung up. He wanted to give her a moment. She would calm down and then he would talk to her again. He will explain. When he tried again... she didn't answer.

He couldn't stop himself any longer. With a loud roar, he turned into a furious wolf. The warriors jumped, trying to stop him but failed. There was a reason he was the strongest of them all. He threw them sideways as he ran out of the club into the dark night.

Aziel tried to track her down, but the trail stopped near her house. He ran to the nearby forest and started running aimlessly. He felt very bad, as if he was about to die. His chosen partner left him. There was no trace of her.

I let her go… Why, why didn't I tell her everything! I knew she would be the one, but I let her go! Ethan screamed in his mind, allowing Aziel to take control.

A few hours later, he was found by Idris and several warriors. He lay in the form of a wolf next to a flowing stream. He growled warningly at those approaching.

"Alpha, we will do everything to find her, but we have to go back" Beta said confidently.

Aziel looked at the men and then transformed back. Idris handed him the clothes and without a word they went back from where they came...

When I woke up it was before noon. I got up, got a grip of myself and started wandering around the city looking for a job. While passing by the hairdresser, I decided that it would be a good idea to change my appearance a bit. I cut my hair short, just above my shoulders and dyed it a dark plum color. The new look even suited me.

It was almost evening when I was walking down one of the streets and noticed a line of people standing in front of the club. I walked up and saw a sign on the window saying 'Hiring a waiter'.

"Well, I already have experience in this field. Let's try" I said to myself as I approached the goalkeeper.

"I want to ask about work"

The man looked at me. I knew immediately that he was a wolf, so either he just worked here or, by some incredible twist of fate, it was one of HIS clubs.

But as they say, it's best to hide under someone else's nose, right? They probably won't look for me here.

A man dressed like one of the employees came out to me and invited me in. Another handsome wolf. I sighed, knowing that no one would be like him. We talked for a while. I explained to him my 'difficult' situation (I told him that I was running away from my alcoholic husband who beat me and would definitely be looking for me, so I couldn't give my real name).

After thinking about it, he let me try it. He even provided me with a small room with a bathroom right next to the club where he lived.

Wanting to prove myself, I left my things at the apartment and went to the club to show that I was worth keeping. I put on my waitress uniform and walked confidently to the bar.

"Hi, I'm Ava. From now on, I will work with you" I waved my hand to the two 'wolf' bartenders.

"Hey, Ava. I'm Jack and this is Tim. How experienced are you?"

"Two years in a similar club is enough?" I asked confidently. He looked pleasantly surprised.

"Not bad. So we can start getting serious"
