A week had passed since my last encounter with Zaya. Each day felt like I was shedding a weight I hadn't realized I'd been carrying.
Maeve and Maya had become my lifelines, their easy banter and supportive presence helping me forget the ache of Zaya's words. Zaya and I hadn't crossed paths on set, and I was endlessly grateful that fate, or perhaps good scheduling, kept our scenes separate.
"Layla! Wake up, you're drifting again," Maya teased, nudging me playfully as we sat on the edge of the set. She gave me a side-eye, her lips curling into a small, amused smile.
I rolled my eyes, laughing. "I'm here, I'm here! Just daydreaming."
She raised a brow. "Daydreaming about someone in particular?"
