The door closed behind me with a soft click, but the sound resonated through my whole body.
It felt like the world had shifted somehow, and maybe it was just the newness of everything, the studio, the cast, and especially Zaya.
I pressed my back against the door, feeling my pulse start to settle but realizing I didn't exactly want it to.
Zaya's presence still lingered in the space around me, her sharp gaze, that steady confidence. There were butterflies so many I could hardly breathe.
I shook myself, heading to the kitchen, pulling out my phone. The moment it started to ring, I realized just how much I needed the familiar sound of my mom's voice, even if it was coming from four hours away.
She picked up quickly, her laughter filtering through the line, immediately calming me.
"Hey, sweetie!" Her warmth filled every word. "How was the big first day? Are you all Hollywood now?"
