Xavier's head jerked up, his eyes locking onto Sarah on the floor. For a moment, he stared, his expression stony.
Sarah looked helpless on the floor, her hair falling out of place. Her cheeks heat up in embarrassment as Xavier's gaze remains on her flushed face. She looked away wishing for the ground to swallow her at the moment
Then, something unexpected happened.
A low, deep chuckle rumbled from Xavier's chest. Xavier's eyes crinkled at the corners, and his lips curled into a smile. The scene before him was hilarious.
Who sleeps while standing?
Sarah's eyes almost popped out of the socket when she realised what just happened. Her dazed brain struggled to process this unexpected reaction. Xavier, the feared mafia leader, was laughing.
