CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
Valerie's fists flew through the air, her kicks potent. Sweat dripped from her brow as she trained alone in the gym, as usual. Her focus was on getting better, her mind clear from any worries.
The door creaked open, and Savage stepped in, his eyes fixed on Valerie.
Valerie sensed a presence in the gym since she was alone, her instincts on high alert. She turned, her gaze meeting Savage's. For a moment, they locked eyes, but she looked away, ignoring and pretending not to see him.
Savage took a step forward, his voice cool and gentle. "Hey, Valerie. You're impressive. Always pushing yourself."
Valerie's expression turned icy, her eyes narrowing. "What do you want, Savage?"
Savage's face fell, but he tried again. "Just wanted to talk. See how you're doing."
