-3rd POV-
"Geez newbie don't scare us like that, we thought an intruder had killed ya" Said one of the Fatui soldiers in annoyance as he slapped the head of the Fatui Assasin.
"Hehe sorry, it's just that the boar...it caught me off-guard" Spoke the assassin, the soft glow of his eyes behind the mask glanced at the boar that was bleeding on the ground.
"No excuses, just go back to your post" The Fatui Pyroslinger ordered
"Yes sir!" the assassin shouted as he gave a salute.
They nodded as the Pyroslinger and the other four Fatui agents began to walk back to camp.
The assassin sighed in relief as he saw them leave. Reaching up to his face, he removed his mask.
It was Meliodas!
"Thank ROB it worked" he thanked the multiverse god.
Originally he was just going to hide the body and run to a new position, but that would have put the Fatui on high alert, making it close to impossible for him to infiltrate and take out the kids without the Fatui noticing him.
Thus Meliodas came up with a plan. He removed the Fatui assassin's uniform off from his corpse and put it on himself. He then was going to act as one of them.
One problem though; the smell of blood was thick!
Even if he managed to fool them into thinking he was one of them, they would have noticed the smell of blood, leading them to find the body.
There's also the fact that the Fatui assassin had yelled for help, making it hard to make an alibi for himself.
Luckily, he made a plan on the spot.
He found the biggest animal he could find at the moment and killed it to mask the scent of human blood.
It also helped create an alibi for himself for the scream.
As the story goes:
"I was caught off guard when the boar crashed into me when I was invisible, making me think that I had been attacked by an enemy"
Surprisingly, they bought it!
It was mostly due to the fact that the Fatui assassin Meliodas had killed was fresh out of the Snezhnaya military academy, making the "blunder" believable since he was still a newbie.
Putting the mask back on, he activated the clocking abilities of the uniform.
It was time for some infiltration!
-Meliodas POV-
I have to admit that this uniforms invisibility feature is quite genius.
Thanks to my higher senses towards energy, I could tell how it works
Basically, it draws in some sort of energy which I could only guess is elemental energy, and thinly covers you in it.
Now, stay with me now.
It doesn't bend reality or bend light to make you invisible, nope.
It actually is a sort of mental hypnosis towards those who are within its range.
Because of elemental energy it absorbs and spreads it around your body in a specific way, it makes you become one with your surroundings, not in a literal sense of course.
From a few tests I've made, I've figured out that I can sense energy on a subconscious level besides my manual energy detection.
I'm guessing that when the subconscious energy detection of a person picks up the specific energy flow created by the uniform, the brain thinks that it's just normal ambient energy and the space is empty, making you think and see as if nothing was there.
It's sort of similar to that one mental test where they jumble up the letters of a word but you're somehow able to read the word in a second without thinking, it's something close to that.
But it's mostly thanks to the specific way the robe flows energy.
Thanks to the uniform's coaching ability, I was able to sneak in quite easily.
The only way someone could sense me would be if they had a good manual sense for elemental energy and is able to sense the slightest change of elemental energy flow in their surroundings.
I continued to sneak into every tent I could without raising attention, sadly none of them were it. That was until I reached the tent in the smack-dab middle of the camp.
As I entered the tent, my nose was assaulted with a horrendous small.
I couldn't help but feel saddened at the scene In front of me. The six kids are in nothing but rags, their whole bodies are absolutely filthy, probably because they haven't bathed in a long time.
they also look really skinny, almost as if they were skeletons. And worst of all is their eyes, there is no light in them, it is as if they have given up on living completely.
No, they have.
Sigh~
"Alright, which is the one?" I asked my system. I wanted to know wich one to take away first and give priority to.
[It's all six of them]
....Nani?
"I thought it was just one?"
[Why would you, Host?]
I sighed in frustration "The quest quite literally says "Save the kid" not KIDS!"
[Ah, apologies]
[Mission Updated!]
<[Mission: First Disciple
Description: Save the "KIDS" in the Fatui camp before she gets sent to Dottore for... experiments
Reward: Sin of Wrath]
....I really want to choke whoever is behind that screen
Sigh~
I've been sighing a lot lately.
....Fuck it, guess I'm taking all of them with me!
"Huh, who are you!" A voice shouted behind me. My whole body stiffened as I realized that I had been caught, and this fucker being loud didn't help.
*Caching*
A metal clang came from the Fatui agent as my back was facing him, he probably cocked his gun.
*Bang
