In a dimly lit room, two figures stood in tense focus.
"Seraphina, is the magic formation weakening yet?" Adonis asked, concern in his voice.
"Give me a few more minutes," Seraphina replied. "I should be able to weaken it enough for us to break through, but I need more mana—keep supplying it."
"Alright," Adonis nodded, sending another pulse of energy her way. "Let's hope Master is holding up and that his summons can emerge from the shadow space."
"Don't worry about Jay," Seraphina said with a reassuring tone. "He won't let himself get caught in a dire situation, but I agree—we need to move quickly. I have a bad feeling about staying here any longer."
"I'm with you," Amelios added, his eyes gleaming coldly. "I'll keep the mana flowing, but the second we're free, I'm giving that boss a good beating for trapping us like this."
Meanwhile, in a corridor filled with the bodies of dead wolves and scattered skeletal remains, Jay sat down, taking a moment to check his stats.

Jay scanned his stats, noting he was close to reaching level 30, the peak of the Warrior Rank.
"Hm... I'll start fighting solo to avoid sharing the experience with my summons—that's been slowing my growth," Jay muttered, observing that even his weakest summon, the Alpha Wolf Skeletal King, had reached level 28. As their leader, he knew he couldn't afford to lag behind, even if he could take on higher-level foes. After a few minutes, he felt his mana capacity max out.
"Finally recovered," Jay thought, his gaze shifting to the corridor Pluto had come from. Turning to his commanders, he shared his plan, "I won't summon the legions unless we're outnumbered. I need the experience to increase my level faster."
"Yes, Master, we'll follow your plan," the 9-Headed Serpent said. "We'll handle the stronger enemies and leave the weaker ones for you." Jay nodded in agreement, appreciating the suggestion. The three Black-Eyed Ghouls led the way, with Adonis beside Jay and Chenoo covering the rear.
As they moved down the corridor Pluto had come from, Jay spotted a vibrant red jewel lying in the corner. Curiosity piqued, he asked Adonis to pick it up. The moment Adonis touched it, a brilliant red light engulfed him, radiating from the jewel. Jay tensed, sensing nothing ominous or deathly about it but ready to intervene. After a few moments, the light dissipated, and Adonis turned to Jay with a grin.
"Master, this jewel is an operational switch," Adonis explained. "It's given me a mental map of the temple's layout. This place is an ancient, mechanical fortress, with a control room that I suspect is where Evans fled—and likely where his master is as well."
"Good to know. I'll be more cautious with objects like these in the future," Jay replied, a bit guilty that he'd put Adonis at risk. From now on, he decided to send in a lower-ranked skeleton for such tasks, to minimize any danger to his main commanders.
"Lead the way, Adonis. Let's get these scum," Jay said firmly. "But keep a slower pace. I have a feeling we'll cross paths with Seraphina and Amelios soon—they'll be useful if we're dealing with Evans' master."
"Don't worry, Master," Adonis reassured him. "There's a pack of wolves ahead that'll help you and Pluto reach General Rank if you take them on."
Jay nodded. "Alright, let's move." Adonis led them to the right, pausing before a stone tablet embedded in the wall. Pressing it, a large hidden chamber opened before them.
"It's this way, Master," Adonis gestured.
Jay left a note behind on the floor for Seraphina and Amelios, detailing the location of the stone tablet and the plan to attack the control room. With everything set, they continued their march through the hidden chamber, ready for what lay ahead.
In a bright room lined with yellow stones and dominated by a towering statue, Evans seethed. "Those bastards… how dare they team up on me! I underestimated them too much," he muttered, struggling to calm himself. Gazing at the statue, he continued, "The Ancient One can't be disappointed in me. I'll fix my mistake."
As he reached for one of the controls, a faint image on a display caught his attention—Jay, accompanied by his summons, had found their way into a hidden corridor. Evans' eyes widened. "How did they manage that? That path leads right to the control room…"
Just then, a deep, rumbling voice echoed from the statue as it came to life. "Evans, what happened? Did you bring me the bodies of the necromancer and his summons?"
Evans felt pressure tighten around him; he had never been questioned like this by his master. Swallowing, he admitted, "Ancient One, your foolish servant has failed," and quickly recounted the events of his earlier battle.
The Ancient One sighed. "At least you managed to escape. I didn't expect all those creatures to be the necromancer's summons, nor that one would be a legendary variant of the Ice Giant. Lead them toward the control room and activate this formation. Also, take this power and bestow it upon three of your most loyal underlings. We need effective bait to lure them in."
"Yes, Master, you're truly wise," Evans responded, feeling some relief at his master's foresight.
Later, three wolves gathered before Evans in the room—one with thick, green claws; another with sleek, purple fur; and a third with a shimmering silver coat. Evans presented them to the Ancient One, who addressed them in a powerful voice, "Step forward and accept my blessing."
The three wolves dared not speak, kneeling silently as a dark red energy wrapped around them. Soon, an egg-like shell enveloped each of them, filling the room with a crackling power that radiated a presence only slightly weaker than Evans'. When the transformation was complete, Evans marveled at their new forms: the green wolf had become a humanoid man with green hair and eyes, marked by a tree symbol on his forehead. The purple wolf had morphed into a towering, 30-meter giant with two heads, each bearing a crescent moon marking, while the silver wolf's strength radiated far more power than before, though it retained its wolfish form.
"Fortune favors you, green one," the Ancient One said. "Transforming into a humanoid is a rare evolution. I will name you Leo—the LifeBreaker."
The green-haired figure knelt even lower. "Thank you, Master, for this honor."
As his name was bestowed, an intense energy surged from Leo, elevating him past even Evans' strength. Evans felt a pang of envy as his former rival was now clearly more powerful. The Ancient One, however, reassured him, "Leo, though stronger, will follow you for now. You'll lead him until he's ready to take on more."
Evans directed the three wolves to guard the control room entrance, instructing them to alert him once Jay and his group approached. The two wolves nodded and took their positions, while Leo followed Evans' lead.
Then the Ancient One continued, "Evans, take this seal. Should you fail to stop them, even with Leo's help and the formation, activate it." A dark, eerie seal floated from the statue and landed on Evans' back. As he absorbed its energy, his hair and eyes turned a fierce red, and his humanoid form shed its fur, revealing golden armor plating across his body.
"Amazing… with this power, I could have crushed that necromancer's entire force!" Evans muttered, reveling in his newfound strength. But before he could lose himself in his ambition, a violent explosion shook the chamber. Checking the control room display, he saw that the pale man and the fallen angel had breached the dimensional trap.
"They're free—and moving fast toward Jay's location." Evans grinned, a deadly glint in his eyes. "If they reach him, things might get complicated. But with Leo by my side and the Ancient One guiding us, we'll eliminate them once and for all. And if we get rid of the necromancer first…" He chuckled, ready to set his plans into motion.
Back in the dark dimension, hidden in a shadowy corner, Seraphina finally felt the formation weaken. "It's ready," she murmured, her voice a mix of relief and determination.
Amelios, who had been steadily channeling mana to her, exhaled and stopped. "Good. Let's finish this—I'm tired of waiting," he replied, his gaze fixed on the flickering lights of the formation. Pointing a finger, he summoned a small but deadly ray of energy. "Virus Beam!" he commanded, sending the green energy bolt toward the weakened structure.
Seraphina joined in, summoning a blade of dark energy in her hand. "Sword Intent—Third Formation," she thought, and instantly, a fierce aura radiated from her weapon. With their combined might, they struck the formation, unleashing a massive wave of energy. The dark room began to shake as the weakened structure crumbled, shards of the dimension peeling away to reveal the two figures within.
The force of their release rippled through the temple's walls, the shockwave echoing loudly.
Farther down the temple's corridors, Jay was mid-battle with a wolf mob when he felt the tremor. Pausing, he glanced back, sensing their power surge. "They broke free," he muttered with a grin. "They'll be joining us soon." His gaze returned to the nearest wolf, which cowered under his eerie, unwavering smile.
