" Jason! You don't have any right to talk to your cousin in such a manner, do you understand?" Fredrick's eyes twitch after noticing he was getting no reaction from him.
Jason glanced over at Fredrick with his cold dead dark orbs, and simply ignored him. " Grandmother, you have something to say." He spoke after realizing Grand Mrs Von's uneasiness.
" Well—"
" Don't try to change the subject, you arrogant bastard! It's unacceptable. I'm your uncle, and I have the authority to speak to you. If you ignore me, you'll face the consequences." Fredrick spat with a look of disgust.
Everyone stared at him as though he was crazy. His son tried to calm him down by holding his balled fists, but he yanked it away as he felt more pumped by everyone's shocked reaction. His wife's heartbeat had increased tenfold as he watched her husband slowly ruin them.
" Only people in power have authority, and people of lower caliber usually try to maintain their lane, but that doesn't seem so in your case." Jason's eyes moved to stare into his directly, making him quiver in fear. " I'll grace you with the chance to compose if you know what's best for you."
" Jason, please." His grandmother spoke up, and let out a soft exhale. " Fredrick, don't interfere with me while I'm speaking."
" Jason, you don't need to worry much about finding yourself a wife." Immediately she said this, everyone's eyes bulged out of their sockets.
" I knew she was going to bend the rules for him." Someone murmured bitterly.
Fredrick tried to compose himself, but his anger was beginning to get more visible by the second.
The Grand James von Charles, Aurora had Four children including Jason's father, Fredrick, Carolyn, and Carl. James, who happened to inherit the family business, and the title of head was a very strategic, and competitive person due to their upbringings.
In the Von empire, to choose the next head of the family, the previous one must relinquish the title himself, be rendered incapable or dead. As soon a a child is born in the family they are being monitored closely. Selection of the next head of the family doesn't specifically rely on the fact that one is the first child of the family.
Anyone could inherit the title of head. So with this, everyone in the family were always on each other's necks about who was better, with everyone finding faults in each other. Everyone always made sure to nurture their children to the best, with strict upbringing, and flawless skills.
Since the old head which was Jason's grandfather had shown interest in Jason more, most of the family members hated him, and his parents. With multiple assassination attempts to get rid of him, but his parents were always on high alert, and protected him at all costs. He had a younger sibling, but she was a female, so they hadn't bothered to take care of her much.
Jason's upbringing was strict, and lonely since he wasn't allowed to go to a real school. He was home Schooled most of his life, until he started university in only one of the country's best.
He had been very introvert, cunning, and smart since he was little, earning him even more enemies from everyone in their family.
They would constantly try to be friends with him, but he could see through them, the jealousy and hate. ' it's not my fault that I'm better.' is what he'd say inwardly after watching people who hated him, put on friendly faces, and try to gain his trust.
He never spent much time with his sister, who was very much invisible to the rest. But that doesn't mean he would allow anyone to maltreat her.
Since she was basically weaker, they would try to vent all the hate they had towards him on her, especially after his parents died in what seemed to be an accident. Jason clearly had doubts, and knew his uncle had something to do with it.
" Mother, whatldid you just say?" Carl von, who had been silent all along suddenly voiced out. He looked equally as cold as Jason at that moment. " Was that the agreement, mother?"
" Wai—"
" *Sob *sob I already knew it! She favoured him more, which is unfair." Carolyn also spoke up. She was still part of the family, and even though she couldn't gain the title of head, she has some shares distributed to her, and handles part of the family business. But if she supported her brother, the possibilities of her shares being increased is high. After all, she was the only daughter.
" Your mother is a witch, she birthed someone with unusual characters such as you. You're so inhuman, and cruel. She was definitely a bad luck, and your dad made the biggest mistake of his life by marrying that bitch!"
Jason stared at them, looking unbotherd. Everything they were saying was totally unnecessary, and this was probably one of their means to try and get him to loose his composure in front of the old woman.
" Grandmother, please proceed to speak." His voice was calm, cool, yet threatening at the same time. His eye wondered lazily from his aunt, back to his grandmother, who havead a sigh.
Everywhere fell silent once more, until Carolyn scoffed. " You don't scare me! just who do you think you are, you young arrogant fool."
Literally everyone gasped upon her remarks. But they wouldn't blame her. They were all sure that Jason was going to be stripped off his title soon, but she should be a little patient.
" Aeh, I see." The corners of his lips raised slightly. " You know, I've been keeping quiet Carolyn. But you seem to enjoy causing such nuisance even though you're pretty much very weak."
" You don't even deserve much, since you were never really considered getting a part in the company's share. You're a woman, and women are never seen as much, since you'll end up somewhere else, and bear someone's heir, and Carry their name. Isn't that right?" He chuckled darkly, "but I never really believed in that, and what did I do?"
There was silence again for about ten seconds. Carolyn's gaze lowered, and she could feel his gaze on her. Her lips shook, and her eye blurred. She knew she had made a huge mistake.
" Oh, you won't answer?"
Even Fredrick felt a chill run down his spine. Nobody could utter a word.
" I… I… I w…will." Carolyn lost all her confidence after receiving looks of pity from the others. She felt totally embarrassed, and looked away. All the courage she's had been building up for this day suddenly vanished into thin air.
" You… you increased my share, and gave me part of a the family's organization." She replied with a low tone, but everyone could hear her due to the silence in the room.
" You're a woman, aren't you? Now tell me… does that make you any less of a human, mm?" He tilted his head to the side as he watched her lower her head.
" N-no."
" So what makes you feel you have to right to talk about my mother in such a manner? Why did you choose to go against me? Have I hurt you, mm? Or are you simply looking for more than you can chew?"
" Now listen, this will be the last time you dare to go against me, and insult my family openly. I'm letting you free because of grandmother here. Don't make me talk much."
