Chapter 4 - License Revoked!

Kimberly's head suddenly started to feel heavy as soon as the thoughts of what happened last flashed through her mind. ' That most certainly wasn't an accident. Someone definitely tried to murder me.' She gritted her teeth as she tried to force back tears. She had an idea of those who were responsible for her accident.

The nurse in the room stared at Kimberly with concern. Although she seemed fine, it'd been almost eighteen hours since she's been awake. Proper medical check ups have been delivered on her, and the results weren't bad. She might only have little issues with walking, and with a little therapy she should be fine. But the lady seemed very uncomfortable and she could tell that she was dealing with something that caused the look on her face at that very moment. It's a good thing she hadn't lost her memory though.

" Are you fine, young miss?" She asked with a nervous chuckle. Mr von Charles mustn't find anything wrong with her after the call the doctor had just gone to make to confirm she was healthy enough to be discharged.

Kimberly didn't reply immediately. She paused for a moment before asking, " Why am I here?"

The nurse stared at her for a moment, and then replied, " Young miss, you were involved in a critical accident which caused your minor injuries on your body. But you're fine now." The nurse paused and her brows ceased. " Do you remember anything before that ma'am?"

Kimberly fell silent for a moment. Her eyes dulled, and she heaved a sigh. " My head hurts."

Just as the nurse was about to attend to her in worry, the doctor walked in looking as pale as a ghost. The nurse furrowed her brows in worry. " I'll be right back ma'am. I'm sure we still need to make sure you're fully recovered. I'll inform the doctor of your complaint. Is the headache constant?"

" I don't need any tests. I only complained that my head hurts, I just need a break from your constant questioning. I'm still recovering, why not give me some time before I get discharged? Why are you in a hurry?" Kimberly asked with a tone of suspicion. ' I can't take any risks and lose my guard.' she thought to herself. ' At this point I am unable to trust anybody apart from myself.'

" Calm down, Young miss. Doctor James here will…" The nurse was about to assure her when someone walked it along with two security guards. Without wasting time, the nurse quickly composed herself. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw who had just walked in; It was the Chief medical officer himself. But what was he doing here all of a sudden?

" Dr. James Davison, I happened to just receive a call a few minutes ago directly from the state medical board. Some higher ups had reported you directly and requested for your medical license to be revoked immediately. We would strongly advise that you move out of the premises as soon as possible to avoid problems." James, who had expected something like this, fell to his knees.

It was as if the man knew something like this might occur. He was the doctor in charge of the lady's care, so normally he might have done some background checks. He knew very well how dangerous the job was before he accepted, but the pay was to die for.

The nurse stood in shock. What had just happened? Her heart pummeled against her chest wildly. Dr. James out of everyone in the hospital? Hadn't he just gone on a phone call with Mr von Charles just now? Had he said something to upset him?

The security guards picked the man who looked like he was on the verge of collapse, and escorted him out quietly.

" S…sir" the nurse started to stutter as she had her eyes wide open. " T… that's Dr. James. I'm sorry sir, but do you realize that you just sent off the city's best medical practitioner?"

" I do realize. But do you realize who is standing in front of you?" The man asked with a stern look on his face as he adjusted his glasses. " He messed with the wrong person. He knew the risk before he took the job, and I would advise you to focus on yours if you don't want to end up the same way."

The nurse's eyes widened although her gaze was lowered, anyone could tell. " I… I'm sorry sir."

" Since you've confirmed she's all good now, arrange a therapy session for her, and massage her legs. We need to make sure she is able to walk properly." The man turned to leave, but then paused, " start soon she's leaving today. You wouldn't want to end up the same way as your role model, now would you?" The man smirked, and walked off.

The nurse quickly Let out a sigh of relief, and she immediately got into action. Since she has only been asleep for six months, a walking therapy session isn't going to be a big deal after her legs have been massaged. Afterall she only had a sprain, but now she's fine. " Does your head still hurt, ma'am?" She asked worriedly.

Kimberly's eyes were a little dull, but she had so many thoughts going through her heart at the same time. " No, I'm fine." She replied calmly.

Kimberly sat on the edge of the hospital bed, her legs dangling above the floor. The bed, though somewhat comfortable, was a reminder of her recent ordeal. The hospital's grandness was evident, with its spacious room and efficient staff. The nurses had tenderly massaged her legs, helping her regain circulation, and assisted her into comfortable clothing.

As she stood up, Kimberly found her balance steady, a relief after the initial concerns. The nurse's encouraging smile faltered as Kimberly's expression crumbled. ' Why is she still looking uncomfortable? She's going to get us fired for sure!' the nurse thought to herself.

"Someone should be here to pick you up soon, ma'am," the nurse informed her with a nervous chuckle, and walked out of the room.

Kimberly's thoughts wandered off a little. The memories of the betrayal she'd endured. And the thought of her brother being responsible for the accident made the tears she'd held back for so long fall out, streaming down her face. Her heart ached, heavy with pain and anger.

She knew that they must be behind her misery, but luckily she had escaped that horrible fate. From the sound of it, the person who is currently overseeing her medical treatment must be a very powerful person, and she would just have to take advantage of it.

"I must have my revenge, or I'll never be able to forgive myself," Kimberly thought to herself, the resolve hardening her resolve. She swiftly wiped away her tears, her expression transforming like she didn't just go through an emotional damage.
