Chapter 43 - Sage

"Did you become a bartender after being banned for a month?" Zayden asked, a scoff escaping his lips. 

"The wear fits you," he added, his gaze landing on the apron Sage had put back on. 

"Says the person who's about to get punished too," Sage retorted, forcing a smile. Zayden noticed the expression but simply rolled his eyes. 

"Oh, and there's a job opening here. If you need my help, you know where to find me," Sage said, crossing his arms and grinning. 

Zayden's brows furrowed even more at Sage's words. It wasn't the first time they had crossed paths, and it certainly wouldn't be the last since he was just like him—stuck with immortality. 

Sage was neither a friend nor an enemy—just someone who always seemed to stir trouble when they were together. 

Sage's gaze shifted, his eyes narrowing as they dropped to Zayden's arms. The playful smirk he wore faltered, replaced by a flicker of disbelief and discomfort.
