Sal carried me on his back as we made our way to Ethan's place. My body was too exhausted to protest, though I could already feel the lecture brewing in Ethan's mind the moment he laid eyes on us.
As we got closer to the garage, I heard the door slam open. Ethan stood there, his expression twisted in disbelief and anger. "What the fuck is this bullshit?" he snapped, marching over to us.
Before I could even react to tell him, he grabbed me off of Sal's back, pulling me to his side as if to stake some kind of claim. Sal just rolled his eyes, already used to Ethan's temper when it came to me. "The kid starts trainin' with Giacomo in his free time soon," he said dismissively, then walked into the garage without another word.
"You could've said thanks. He did carry me all the way here," I muttered, still leaning against Ethan for support.
