Next Day
Max opened his door to find a bald man standing there with a smile on his face.
"What do you want?" Max asked, his tone slightly impatient.
"Mr. Ryder, you forgot to call us," Phil said, still smiling.
"I didn't forget," Max replied after a brief pause. "I just... didn't find the time. You said I could call when I was ready. So what's with the intrusion?" he added, looking skeptically at Phil.
Phil maintained his calm smile and gestured slightly. "Why don't we talk inside?" he suggested.
"Or what? That sniper over there will take me out?" Max asked, stepping aside and allowing Phil to enter while gesturing toward the top of a distant building.
Phil's smile faltered for a moment, surprised that Max had noticed the hidden sniper. "Though, what kind of weapon is that? The distance is clearly over a kilometer, yet it's locked onto me from here," Max continued, his sharp gaze fixed on Phil.
Phil's smile returned as he looked at Max with growing intrigue. "You're more perceptive than we thought," he said. But before he could respond further, a loud shot rang out, the sound of a sniper rifle firing.
Max barely flinched, already anticipating the shot. He moved just in time as the bullet whizzed past where he had been standing moments ago.
Phil sighed, shaking his head. "Insurance," he muttered under his breath, as Max's instincts proved correct once again.
"Take out that guy," Phil said calmly into his comms, then looked at Max with an apologetic expression. "We've got a few spies from other countries who like to eliminate potential threats if they see superpowers emerging," he said as if it were just another day at work.
'Yeah, like HYDRA,' Max thought sneering at him. Without warning, he grabbed Phil by the collar and tossed him out of the doorway.
Thud!
Phil hit the ground with a thud, groaning as he landed on his back. Max stepped out, standing over him with a cold glare. "Next time a bullet comes near me," Max said, his voice low and threatening, "your whole little squad will be dead." A dark spear materialized in Max's hand, and with a flick, he threw it into the distance, toward the sniper who had fired earlier.
Phil's eyes widened in horror as the building's rooftop, where the sniper had been stationed, was engulfed in darkness, the whole area erased in an instant.
"You lied," Max said, his voice sharp as he glared down at Phil. "That wasn't a misfire. It was a warning shot to show you can kill me whenever you want."
Phil's face paled. The confident agent now looked shaken as he witnessed the destruction. Max walked closer, his presence even more menacing. "Tell your SHIELD buddies next time I won't be so nice. My 'welcome shot' won't be something they can shrug off. Be ready to sacrifice yourselves," Max growled, before turning his back on Phil and heading inside.
From the doorway, Lumia watched the whole encounter in silent amazement. She had never seen anyone get on her brother's bad side this quickly, and the thought of what he might do next sent a shiver down her spine.
'That bullet, what if it has reached Lumia' Max clenched his hands ashe thought of this.
"They want a talk they will get one now" Max thought to himself as he started to get ready for the mayhem, that will greet SHIELD today.
'But first... let's settle things with them,' Max thought to himself as he walked back to his hideout, where Flash and the others were staying until they could fully control their powers.
Returning to his own underground city, Max began to reach the big arena where the usually train together with everyone.
As Max entered, Flash immediately stood up, a nervous energy surrounding him. "Hey, man. You look... intense. Something happen out there?" he asked.
"Nothing," Max replied, brushing off the earlier tension. "Anyway, now that you all have some control over your abilities, let me ask you one thing." He looked at everyone seriously.
MJ, Peter, Harry, and Gwen stopped what they were doing and turned their attention to him.
"I want to know if you're all willing to join my superhero team or not," Max asked, his gaze steady.
MJ and the others exchanged looks, then nodded in agreement.
"Of course, we will," MJ said.
"Yeah, without you, we might've been discovered and ended up in the lab of some crazy scientist," Flash added.
"I'm with you," Gwen chimed in. "I've always wanted to be part of your team."
"I'll join you too, but can I challenge you for the leader position at some point?" Harry teased with a grin.
Max nodded and said, "Welcome to the team. Though, I don't have a name for it yet."
"We can all think of it" MJ laughed and said as everyone laughed too.
"But don't we already have one?" Flash asked, scratching his head.
Everyone turned to him, confused.
"Midtown Kings, you know, the one Max mentioned?" Flash pointed out, earning glares from the others.
"You idiot, that sounds more like a gang than heroes," Harry said, shaking his head.
"Yeah, we might as well stay hidden with a name like that," MJ and Gwen said, nodding in agreement.
"Not to mention, it's not that good," Max added.
"How about 'Spidey Squad'?" Peter suggested with a grin.
"NO," Max said immediately, glaring at him.
"I'm the leader here, so I'll decide the name. The rest of you just focus on working on your abilities," Max continued. "I just saw a vision of New York being invaded by aliens, and there were other superheroes involved too."
Everyone gasped.
"An alien invasion?" Flash asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
"yes and a lot of people died that day including few of you as none of you know how to use your own abilities, so train or you now the future, Train to change it" Max added with serious expression causing everyone one to hold their breaths.
