"Cool," Max mumbled to himself, a satisfied grin creeping across his face as he admired the status of the newly created Death Guardian. He continued his calm stride, moving away from the now-ruined Hydra facility.
Behind him, the entire base was in shambles. Everything of value had either been stolen or obliterated. The bodies of Hydra soldiers lay in lifeless heaps, and the facility itself had been stripped clean by his mist and his meticulous planning. The mist had done its work well—no alarms were tripped, and no evidence of his theft or destruction remained.
With the Death Guardian silently following him, its glowing eyes scanning the area, Max felt a sense of completion. Hydra had one key facility, but they will lose more by the end of today, and Max had walked away with their resources, secrets, and a powerful new ally.
"On to the next one," Max muttered under his breath, vanishing into the night, leaving only the remnants of Hydra's failure behind.
The survivors had been safely moved to a nearby city, where they lay in the middle of the road, completely undisturbed in their sleep. The guards patrolling the area were taken aback when they discovered such a large group of unconscious people with no explanation. Still, the survivors were safe and stable.
Meanwhile, Max had made special arrangements for Yulia Volkova and Bucky Barnes. He transported their cryochambers to his underground city base, knowing that both would need time to recover—and that they would be valuable allies once fully awakened and free of Hydra's control.
With everything set in motion, Max could focus on the next base, after all his revenge has just started.
The next morning, Max was jolted awake by Lumia suddenly jumping on his stomach.
"What the heck?" Max shouted, startled, as he looked up at his sister, who was laughing gleefully.
"Do you want to kill me?" Max groaned, rubbing his stomach while Lumia hugged him, clearly ecstatic.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Lumia repeated excitedly.
"What happened?" Max asked, still trying to process the sudden chaos.
"Hehehe, I got Queen last night! That's why I'm so happy!" Lumia said, puffing out her chest proudly.
"Queen?" Max raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, the Death Guardian! I named her Queen because she's my first Guardian, and she's going to be the leader of the future ones!" Lumia explained, crossing her arms, looking completely serious.
Max couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm, watching her with a grin. Lumia pouted, her playful side coming through as she crossed her arms tighter. "Why are you laughing? Do you think it's a funny name?" she asked with a frown.
Max chuckled and shook his head. "No, no. It's a great name. Queen suits her," he said, amused by Lumia's excitement.
Lumia's pout quickly turned into a wide grin as she accepted Max's answer, clearly pleased with herself. "I know, right? She's gonna be so powerful! And she's mine," Lumia boasted, bouncing a little in her excitement.
Max sat up, rubbing his head with a smirk. "Well, I'm glad you're happy with your Death Guardian. I figured you'd like her, but you didn't have to wake me up like that."
Lumia giggled. "You're always so serious, Max. Gotta shake things up sometimes!" She nudged him playfully.
Max shook his head, though there was a soft smile on his face. "Yeah, yeah. But remember, Queen's just the first. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, especially if you want more Guardians in the future."
Lumia's eyes sparkled with determination. "I know! And I'm ready! Queen is going to help me create the best army of Guardians ever."
Max chuckled, proud of his sister's spirit. "Good. Just don't go overboard with it. We've got enough on our plate already."
Lumia gave a mock salute. "No promises!" she said, grinning mischievously before hopping off the bed and running off to likely check on Queen.
Max stretched his arms, letting out a tired "Hyaah!" as he sat back on his bed, his muscles feeling the strain of the previous night's activities. He chuckled to himself, his thoughts drifting to one particular person.
"I really wonder what Pierce is doing," he mused aloud, a sly grin forming on his face.
The night before had been nothing short of eventful. Max had single-handedly taken down three Hydra bases, all of them tied directly to Alexander Pierce's operations. Not only had he destroyed the bases, but he had also looted them clean. Every last bit of valuable intel, technology, and resources—gone, leaving Pierce's operations in shambles.
"Bet he's losing his mind right about now," Max muttered with a smirk, imagining the chaos Pierce must be dealing with as he tried to figure out what happened. Max had made sure there were no traces leading back to him, just an eerie feeling that someone, or something, was hunting Hydra down.
With Hydra's operations now crippled in that region and Pierce likely scrambling to rebuild, Max knew he'd bought himself some time—time to focus on strengthening his own base and allies. He had plans for the future, and Hydra's downfall was just the beginning.
"hmm, Last day I threatened poor Phil, hm, Wel not my fault who told them to get infiltrated by HYDRA" Max shrugged as he went to washroom, to get ready for the day.
