Chapter 23 - Huitzilopochtli

The sky above shimmered with the iridescent glow of cosmic light. A figure, gliding through the vast emptiness of space, seemed to defy the natural laws of movement. His blue skin reflected the brilliant celestial light, and his eyes, the same shade of azure, seemed to contain the very essence of the heavens. His attire, made of intricately designed Aztec armor, caught the starlight as he sped across the endless void.

This was Huitzilopochtli, the 5th Sun of the Aztec world, an embodiment of the Sun's power and an unwavering protector of his people. His feet, resembling the talons of a bird, gave him a near ethereal grace. But despite his divine nature, today he found himself running.

Behind him, a great and terrifying presence floated, a disembodied head that seemed to drift through the void like an ominous, otherworldly apparition. It was Coyolxauhqui, his sister, the Moon Goddess, her red eyes glinting with malice and her sharp teeth bared in a grin. The moon, she was the goddess of night and death, and in her rage, she hunted her brother with a vengeance.

"You will never eat me, sister!" Huitzilopochtli called out, his voice carried on the cosmic winds.

Coyolxauhqui's voice echoed coldly, her sharp teeth visible as she growled in response, "Fuck you, Huitzi. You can't hide forever."

But the chase was abruptly interrupted.

A ripple in the air, and the figure of Tezcatlipoca, the Black Sun, materialized in front of Huitzilopochtli. His black sun aura radiated an intense energy, a half-form of his jaguar-like appearance, as if the sun itself was reflected in his very being.

Huitzilopochtli paused mid-flight, grinning widely as he saw his old ally. "Well, well... If it isn't Tezcatlipoca, saving the day once again," Huitzilopochtli said, his voice full of appreciation and a bit of humor. "You have no idea how tired I am of running from her."

Tezcatlipoca, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of playfulness and calm, slowly returned to his human form. His yellow hair flowed like a river of light in the emptiness of space, moving with an energy of its own, while his sharp features became more prominent. "Of course, why shouldn't the Black Sun help the Blue Sun, right?" Tezcatlipoca grinned, his tone light yet knowing. He scanned the empty space briefly before turning his gaze back to Huitzilopochtli. "You know, you're lucky I was in the neighborhood. Now, enough with the chase. You are free now, but I need a favor."

Huitzilopochtli arched an eyebrow, intrigued. "A favor? From me? Now, that's something I didn't expect."

Tezcatlipoca crossed his arms and leaned slightly on one of the floating cosmic structures nearby. "Well, there's a group of gods I'd like you to meet. I think you'll find them... interesting."

Huitzilopochtli chuckled, clearly amused. "A group of gods? Sounds like trouble. But I'm intrigued. If it's something worth your time, it's worth mine. Lead the way, Tezcatlipoca."

With a slight wave of his hand, Tezcatlipoca opened a portal to another realm, one where the divine energy of many gods hummed in the air. The stars swirled around them as they crossed the threshold.

The two gods stepped into the world that was once home to both gods and mortals. The landscape was rich with the scent of earth and the colors of power that echoed the rise and fall of civilizations. The ground beneath them shifted with divine energy, and ahead, a massive group of powerful beings gathered in the distance.

Tezcatlipoca grinned, a predatory gleam in his eyes. "You'll find them... as stubborn as they are powerful."

Huitzilopochtli, eager and somewhat amused by Tezcatlipoca's cryptic manner, looked around at the gathered gods. His sharp blue eyes scanned each of them, from the mighty Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, to the goddesses Hera, Hestia, and Demeter. He could sense their strength, and a small chuckle escaped him.

"Well, Tezcatlipoca," Huitzilopochtli said, his voice booming with the confidence of the sun. "This is quite the assembly of gods, isn't it?"

Tezcatlipoca smiled, eyes gleaming like twin suns. "Yes, my friend. And they're about to learn a thing or two about what it means to truly rule. But first..." He turned toward the group and called out, "Huitzilopochtli, the Blue Sun, the 5th Sun of the Aztec Pantheon! Come, meet the gods of the Greek world."

The Greek gods, still recovering from their previous trials, turned their attention toward the newcomer. Zeus stood tall, lightning crackling around him as he eyed Huitzilopochtli with curiosity.

"Another god, then," Zeus said with a slight grin, clearly intrigued by Huitzilopochtli's energy. "It is pleasure to meet you."

Poseidon, standing just beside Zeus, studied Huitzilopochtli carefully. "Another Sun god, huh? This ought to be interesting."

Hades simply nodded in acknowledgment, his dark eyes taking in the god's aura. He could sense Huitzilopochtli's power, and it felt both familiar and distant at the same time.

Meanwhile, Hera, ever the strategist, observed the new arrival with a calculating gaze. "So, what brings you to this... alliance of gods?"

Tezcatlipoca laughed, sensing the tension in the air. "Huitzilopochtli isn't just here to make small talk. He's here because we need strength—more than just the strength of power, but the strength to challenge what we cannot face alone."

With that, the two gods stepped forward, both representing suns—one black, one blue—but both sharing the same fiery ambition to reignite the world with their collective might.

The group of gods stood in silence for a moment, the gravity of the situation settling upon them. They were now united not only by their power but by the shared understanding that together, they could challenge the very forces that threatened the balance of their worlds.

Tezcatlipoca smiled. "This will be interesting indeed."

One explanation later

The tension in the air was thick as the gods—both from the Aztec and Greek pantheons—attempted to understand the complicated situation at hand. Huitzilopochtli's blue skin glowed faintly in the cosmic light, his sharp eyes scanning the room as the full weight of the discussion settled in.

"So, let me get this straight," Huitzilopochtli began, his voice cutting through the uneasy silence. "These Greek gods are still... young? And they're training to return to their side of the world and take on their father?"

Hades sighed deeply, his eyes carrying a weight of centuries as he nodded. "Yes, very much so."

Tezcatlipoca, leaning back slightly, smirked as he looked at Huitzilopochtli. "Well, this is certainly something right. I expected something a little more chaotic. It's a lot to digest, but then again, you know better than anyone what it's like to carry the weight of responsibility, don't you?"

Huitzilopochtli grinned, his expression shifting into something both lighthearted and serious. "I suppose I do. The world of the Aztecs is no stranger to turmoil, and the sun doesn't always rise smoothly, does it? But still, this situation… these gods…" He trailed off, his mind racing as he looked over at the Greek gods, who stood nearby, listening intently. "And I'm still processing the fact that the Norse gods, the African Tricksters Quite the interesting bunch."

Tezcatlipoca shrugged, clearly unconcerned by the complexity of the situation. "I have no real interest in how strong they are. The strength of these kids isn't what worries me. I gave them a mental trial, but the real power—well, that comes with experience. They're not just strong because of their divinity. It's about growth, something that comes with time and hardship. And Hades," Tezcatlipoca turned, locking eyes with the underworld god, "you're already aware of that, aren't you?"

Hades, who had been silently observing the conversation with his stoic gaze, let out another sigh. His eyes flickered as the gods spoke, and despite his calm exterior, he felt the weight of their words pressing against him. He could already see how this was going to unfold—how every piece would fall into place eventually. But still, he couldn't help but wonder about the underlying tension.

"Are you looking at me?" Hades asked, his voice low and flat. It wasn't a question born of curiosity—it was more of a statement. He knew exactly why they were looking at him.

Tezcatlipoca smirked, his eyes gleaming with that familiar mischievous energy. "Yes, kid. We are talking about you."

Hades met his gaze without flinching, but there was a certain coldness in his eyes now—a silent warning. He understood Tezcatlipoca's games. He also understood the weight of knowledge. The future wasn't something to be shared lightly, especially not with gods who were just beginning to realize their true strength.

Tezcatlipoca's smirk only deepened as he saw the tension in Hades' posture. "Relax, Hades. We're not asking you to spill all the secrets of the future. Just a little advice, here and there. Nothing too dangerous."

Huitzilopochtli, clearly amused by the exchange, leaned forward. "Tell me, Tezcatlipoca, how strong are these Greek gods? You've fought them before, right?"

Tezcatlipoca's eyes narrowed slightly as he considered the question. "Fought them? Not exactly. I've given them trials, but that's not quite the same as a direct confrontation. I can tell you this, though—their strength comes from their unity. And, of course, their lineage. But the strongest among them, well... It's clear who holds that title."

Huitzilopochtli's sharp gaze shifted toward the group of Greek gods, his eyes lingering on Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. "So it's Zeus then?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Tezcatlipoca's gaze flickered toward the Greek gods before he answered. "For now, yes. But there are others, too. Their potential... it's what I'm more interested in."

Hades' voice cut through the conversation, his gaze steady as ever. "I don't need to explain how strong they are. If anything, they need to realize their own strength. And maybe... maybe we can help them figure that out."

There was a brief pause as the gods considered Hades' words. It was clear that the Greek gods still had a long way to go, but with the right guidance, they could become formidable. But the key question remained—what path would they take to unlock that potential?

Tezcatlipoca looked at Hades again, his eyes narrowing with a playful glint. "And when they face their father, Hades… Do you think they're ready?"

Hades didn't answer immediately. Instead, he let the weight of his words settle around them. "Readiness isn't just about power. It's about purpose. If they find that, they'll be more than prepared."

Huitzilopochtli chuckled, his blue skin glowing with amusement. "This is turning out to be an interesting gathering of gods. I'm curious to see how this unfolds." He looked at the Greek gods with a newfound respect. "You may be young, but there's strength in all of you. And it's not just your father you need to defeat—it's yourselves."

Tezcatlipoca's expression softened just a bit, his voice carrying the weight of wisdom. "Indeed. And that, my friends, is where the true challenge begins."

With that, the conversation fell silent for a moment as the gods took in Tezcatlipoca's words. The road ahead would not be easy, but with each god in the room, the possibility of victory grew stronger.

Huitzilopochtli, his eyes alight with the fire of a thousand suns, stepped back, giving a half-smile to the assembled group of gods. "Well, Tezcatlipoca, I'll stick around a while longer. After all, it seems like things are about to get very interesting."

The tension in the air shifted as a sudden fiery kick caught Huitzilopochtli off guard. His hand shot out instinctively to block it, but the impact was strong enough to make him wince slightly, feeling the tingle of numbness crawling up his arm. He glanced at his attacker with a mix of surprise and admiration.

"I see someone is ready to train already," Huitzilopochtli said, rubbing his hand to shake off the lingering numbness.

Standing before him, wearing a fiery grin, was Hestia, her hair blazing in a vibrant shade of yellow as flames flickered around her form. Her eyes burned with determination, and there was a fierce energy about her.

Hestia, ever devoted and protective, looked at the sun god, her voice steady yet passionate. "Hell, I'm gonna get so strong to protect all my siblings and family. I am the goddess of Heart, Fire, and Family after all."

Huitzilopochtli blinked, momentarily caught off guard by the sudden declaration. "I thought you were the goddess of war," he said, a bit confused.

Tezcatlipoca, standing off to the side, chuckled as he observed the exchange. "Common mistake," he said, a sly grin crossing his face. "But don't worry, it's not just you. Many confuse Hestia's role. Her powers go far beyond the hearth and family—though she may not wield the typical warlike traits, her strength is no less formidable."

Huitzilopochtli raised an eyebrow, now intrigued. "So... she's not just a healer or protector?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

Tezcatlipoca shook his head lightly, his tone amused. "Not by a long shot. Her heart burns with a fierce, protective fire. She's also got some serious power that makes her a tough opponent when she needs to be." He glanced at Hades, who had been silent during most of the conversation. "Be careful, though. Her and Shadow over there—" he gestured toward Hades, "—are probably the best way I can say mutants among the gods."

Huitzilopochtli blinked, looking between Tezcatlipoca and Hades, his brow furrowing slightly. "Great. Another you and Camazotz situation?" he sighed, clearly trying to wrap his mind around the unexpected nature of Hestia and Hades.

Tezcatlipoca's smirk widened at the comparison. "Exactly. They don't quite fit the traditional mold of what gods are expected to be. But that's what makes them unique. Hestia, for example—she's more than just the hearth goddess. She's the embodiment of warmth, protection, and the kind of strength that comes from love. And Hades..." He trailed off, glancing at the underworld god. "Well, we all know what he's capable of. Together, they represent something… different. But powerful."

Huitzilopochtli, still processing this, eyed Hestia with newfound respect. She was more than just a gentle, nurturing figure; she was a force to be reckoned with. "I see... So, she's got the heart of a warrior, huh?"

Hestia smiled warmly, her eyes never leaving Huitzilopochtli. "It's not just about fighting," she said, her voice filled with conviction. "It's about protecting the ones you love, even if it means becoming something you never expected."

Tezcatlipoca, observing the exchange, let out a low chuckle. "Be careful, Huitzilopochtli. Hestia might not be a warrior by nature, but when it comes to her family, she will fight like no other."

Huitzilopochtli gave a small laugh, shaking his head as he finally relaxed, his earlier tension easing. "I've heard about strong families before, but this is a new level."

"Just wait until you see what we can do when we're all together," Hestia said, her fiery aura flickering with excitement. "You'll get a front-row seat."

As the gods around them exchanged words and ideas, there was a subtle shift in the atmosphere—an understanding forming among them. The journey ahead would be filled with trials, but with gods like Hestia, Hades, Tezcatlipoca, and the others, the future looked a little brighter. And Huitzilopochtli, though a god of the sun, knew that there was something even more radiant than sunlight—the fire of family, unity, and strength.

Tezcatlipoca gave Huitzilopochtli a final look. "Now, I suggest you take Hestia's offer. You'll want to see just how far these young gods can go, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find yourself learning something in the process."

Huitzilopochtli chuckled, his blue skin glowing in the cosmic light. "Alright, alright. I'll take the challenge. But just know—I'm not going easy on any of you."

"Wouldn't expect anything less," Hestia replied with a determined grin.

With the stage set and the gods preparing for the trials that awaited them, a new chapter of their journey was about to unfold. It was a chapter filled with fierce determination, growth, and, most importantly, the bonds that would define their destinies.
