Chapter 25 - 24. Battle Against Goblins 1

'As I imagined, the AI they created is very advanced. I find it difficult that everyone's reactions result from the story.'

I thought looking at Sofi and Constance's reaction, then Sofi gathered the materials I sent and went straight back to her cabin.

What happened from then on was a reflection of the first days, with the difference that they were preparing for the invasion and not only living their lives normally, but in essence it was the same thing, carrying out tasks calmly and steadily.

I could have moved things fast-forward, but I decided to let them go as normal, this also gave me time to play and take care of things outside, not just going to the bathroom or eating something, I also went out to do some exercise, you know, in times of Today it is always important to move your body a little, whether to stay in shape now or as prevention for the future.

And since 1 day in the game takes about 20 minutes out here, I imagine there would be time for some exercises, especially with the alerts activated on your cell phone in case something happened. After about 50 minutes of exercise and no warning, I turned my full attention (until some force majeure forced me to take a break) to the game. I could immediately see several changes in the village.

The field was almost completely clean, except for some new buildings and some holes. Just before reaching the village through the field, 4 towers were placed a little higher than the villagers' houses. In the square where the small stone altar had been placed instead of people sleeping in the open they were now all sleeping in tents and it appears that a field further away had been converted into a makeshift training ground.

Um... didn't they adapt a little too quickly? Even though it's a game?

As I watched them do their thing a red arrow appeared in the southwest corner of the screen, right in the path of the crops. Obviously warning about the arrival of the goblins, but I wasn't as worried as I thought I would be, even though I hadn't seen the preparations I could see the results directly, several obstacles and traps and a small militia with spears, machetes and shields.

Even if they don't come close to an army against an order of goblins, I'd say it's a good force even if the difference were 2 to 1, not counting the archers but they have few so I don't know if it will make much of a difference. And even if things don't happen the way I hope, I can still help with Punishment, Lightning and the potions I still have in my stock.

Soon I could see them before the villagers, as expected they were a very large mass of green, on the screen looking like several green squares of pixels in humanoid shapes but they were curved with some grayish white pixels, I imagine they were weapons but what were they? So I couldn't say.

The villagers on the other hand looked more like pixelated personaema from the early Nintendo games, hmm... I guess now the NPCs in general looked a bit like Sonic characters, while my Fanatical Devotees looked like main characters from Stardew Valley.

What I meant was that now I could better differentiate the NPCs while the monsters still looked like pixel blocks arranged in humanoid shapes, this was important because now with the two groups about to face each other I needed a better idea of where to throw the lightning bolts. , imagine if I played in a bunch of goblins but also ended up hitting almost half of my NPCs?

Soon the fight between them began, one of my Devoted Fanatics and a fanatic (Ivan and Matt) started shooting arrows from the towers they placed in the village, as expected from hunters they easily hit the goblins, in less than 4 seconds of the 10 goblins attacking They became 6, and as soon as they arrived 5 steps from the line of shields they created, the other archers took action and of the 6, only 2 were left who were quickly eliminated by the spearmen. Of course, this wasn't even a drop in the bucket for the goblins, they soon responded by sending more to attack while a small group advanced further behind, on the screen you could see lines going from them to the spearmen, so I imagine they were throwing rocks at them.

Both the front and back spearmen raised their shields, neutralizing any damage to them, while the archers focused on finishing off the goblins that threw rocks, plus Ivan and Matt, the others continued attacking the goblins that advanced to reduce the pressure on the spearmen. who were exposed with their shields raised. This time there were 20 goblins attacking, excluding those who threw stones, and of those I think about 15 or 16 reached the spearmen.

Fortunately, they had organized themselves in a concave semicircle formation, giving those in the center more time to prepare for the attack, as well as providing a better attack area for the spearmen in the back to throw some improvised javelins. If you're wondering how I know they were javelins, it's because when I clicked on them a little earlier, this is what appeared.

There were some small differences in terms of level and attributes, but in general they were all kind of like that, and fortunately no one was below level 5.

Call it superstition, but before any "big battle" I always prefer that my characters or allied NPCs stay either at levels divisible by 5 at least or by 10 preferably, and as in this case there was no way for me to speed up or improve the NPCs' training I I could only pray that they reached the level I wanted in those 3 days. Not only did they manage to place some they also got at least one skill, some got the Precise Strike skill, others Heavy Strike, others Total Defense, all useful in our current situation.

One thing that worries me a little was the fact that one of Ivan's archers was missing, he trained at least 5 of the newcomers but only had four in the fight (there are 6 archers and they do good damage to the goblins), could one One of them couldn't finish training or was found by the goblins and...

Well, if so, it's unfortunate but inevitable, even though I hated losing characters, there are times when it can't be avoided.

They continued with the goblins sending some away and others throwing things, the archers finishing them off with those they threw and the spearmen gathering the attackers in the center to be caught by the javelins.

An interesting thing in the strategy that the AI did in the fight was to recover the launched javelins, after they finished, the spearmen in a semi-circle would break them up and form a line and with their shields lowered they would advance on top of the goblins, pushing with their shields and sending them back. Once they were away, they repositioned the spears on top of them and formed a small pile in front and withdrew a little, in the meantime the spearmen behind recovered the boars and replaced the tired or injured ones from the front line and returned to the semi-circle formation with the spears ready for the goblins.

There is and don't think that I didn't do anything other than watch, that's what I did most of the time but when the goblins sent more than 20 at us or when the archers had to change quivers I was ready to send punishments at the goblins to delay them. An interesting thing to note was that I couldn't verify the information on the goblins, either because they were so low in level as to be neglectable or the observation didn't include monsters and only gave a short description after they were eliminated.

Obsolete comments and observations aside, the fight continued to go well, very well to tell the truth. Which obviously meant that something was going to happen soon to mess everything up. Not a second after I thought about it, this thing happened, this being the final wave of attack by the goblins and as was customary being made up of goblins, elite goblins and the head of the orde, usually in these cases it would be a hobgoblin or even an orc leading the goblins but I can guarantee one thing, that thing could be many things but it was neither a goblin nor an orc.

And even though I just looked at what was happening, I could be sure of one thing.

"This one is definitely going to be a lot of work"
