'Why whenever something gets better it soon gets worse afterwards.'
Ivan thought angrily as he hid behind one of the houses and looked at the head wound, it wasn't deep or dangerous but any head wound would cause blood to fall into the eyes which would make things difficult for anyone in a fight. Even more so if you were an archer who was very dependent on vision.
Soon after the lightning strike the tide had changed again, with the stunned goblins Hannah and Matt managed to eliminate one of the mounted goblins easily. Hannah killed the boar and when the goblin got up Matt shot an arrow that hit him at the base of the neck, Ivan had a strong suspicion that this was more luck than anything.
But even with the arrow he still didn't fall, and he still managed to attack Hannah with a desperate mix of sword and claws, in turn Hannah just dodged the frantic blow with a simple step to the right, took the arrow from her throat and took a step towards front and stuck it into the goblin's head and just to make sure that he really died she stabbed the hole left by the arrow in his neck, making the blade come out the other side.
The moment he saw one of the mounted goblins fall, the green monstrous let out a guttural roar and chose Hannah and Matt, 2 of the mounted goblins caught some of the goblins on foot and separated, one came in front and the other seemed to want or make a move. attack from behind or attack the other spearmen on the left.
Whatever it was, everyone was sure it wouldn't be good if they succeeded. Ivan then continued with his shots, alternating between the goblins that came from the front and the monster further back, which earned him an angry look from him, not that Ivan cared.
As soon as the mounted goblin arrived close to Hannah, who was already busy with 2 goblins and Matt fighting hand to hand with another, everyone was surprised to see one of Barton's javelins hitting the eye of the boar that was carrying him. Ivan glanced back briefly in time to see one of the spearmen Matt and Hannah had helped earlier leaning against the back wall of a house. He was getting ready to throw another javelin, but a rock came from above and hit him hard in the head.
Before he even turned his attention to the front, Ivan's body was already rolling on the ground and nodding an arrow to his bow in time to see the furthest goblin advancing with his boar and 2 more goblins with piles of stones in rudimentary baskets behind. The goblin threw the stones both forward and to the side, in the direction of the spearmen, but his boar quickly headed towards Matt.
Matt in turn eliminated the goblin using his knife and just as Ivan Long was doing a roll on the ground and with an arrow from the bow. Which was immediately defended by the shield that the goblin held in his left hand and with his right he threw 3 stones towards Hannah.
Trying to relieve some of the pressure that the goblins were putting on Hannah and Matt, some stray spearmen were sent by the squad leader to help, Ivan ended up with a head injury thanks to the goblin with the slingshot, but in return he managed to kill both goblins. of support and send an arrow into the front leg of the boar that the second mounted goblin was using.
In exchange for the injury, he managed to give the perfect chance to take another strong opponent out of the fight, a wish achieved moments later by the lanceros and Hannah.
'Now there are 2 left'.
And once again the same creature that always created a disaster when he acted did exactly that. With one impulse he launched himself into the sky above the roofs of the houses, much higher than Ivan or anyone would expect of a creature with a physique of that type.
Not caring about any sign of astonishment at the feat, the monster sent one of its power cuts to the archer towers still standing and launched the same attack towards the spearmen on the left when it began to fall. He apparently calculated well where he wanted to land, as he fell just in front of where the spearmen were gathered and with a brutal turn he sent several of them to the ground, some died but fortunately some managed to survive.
Being optimistic, the monster was now in an easier place to attack and without its mount, which went to help the goblin by attacking the spearmen. Being realistic, he showed that he was not a mindless creature, and before arriving in a dangerous area he had already neutralized or at least reduced a potential risk by taking the archers out of the equation. Which was a bad sign for everyone else present.
However, that didn't change much of what they should do, and as soon as he tied the bandage tightly around his head, Ivan rolled out, sending two towards the goblins. The first towards the monster that didn't penetrate the thick fur much, but the second finally wasn't defended by the goblin's shield with slingshot.
"Graahhhh!"
Taking advantage of the opportunity, one of the spearmen who managed to withstand the monster's attack threw one of the javelins towards the injured goblin. With an arrow in the arm of the shield, the slinger in the other and the boar attacking Hannah, he had no option but to dismount to avoid taking a javelin to the head.
Ivan didn't have much time to celebrate the joint achievement, because as soon as he was preparing for another shot, his instinct told him to dodge to the right just in time for the green monster to appear, bringing the "sword" down where he was before. With a grunt he picked it up and made another horizontal cut, which Ivan deflected by bending his body.
With the monster busy attacking Ivan, Matt took advantage of the opportunity and sent three quick arrows at the creature, one that he defended by raising the back of his hand, another cut his shoulder but the third managed to hit his ear, earning a scream of pain. and anger at the creature. It seemed that anger strengthened him, because as soon as Ivan moved away a little, the green creature soon appeared above him, he felt an impact on his torso and he could swear that he saw the situation even though he was thrown backwards until he broke the wall of one of the houses, something that he was sure had resulted in several broken and fractured ribs.
'At least it wasn't a sword strike.'
He thought trying to get up, while the monster attacked the spearman who had helped him force the goblin to dismount the boar, the spearman fought the best he could and even managed to make some cuts on his opponent, but he was already tired and hurt from the first attack, while the creature had only a few superficial arrow wounds and was driven by rage. The result couldn't be anything other than one less person on the human side, but things always change in combat.
Matt, still busy with the dismounted goblin, couldn't do anything to help anyone, but as soon as he saw an opportunity he attacked the goblin with his hunting knife, which he defended using his arm hold, causing Matt to fall forward but in True, that was Matt's goal. Feeling the world slow down around him, Matt can see in detail the moment when the goblin positions his shield to attack him in an indefensible position, but as soon as one of his hands reaches the ground he uses it as a pivot and turns his body. at the same time he retracted his legs and aimed them at the shield.
Not expecting the movement, the goblin with the shield ended up pushed back and slipped on one of the bodies on the ground. Using residual strength, Matt somersaulted backwards while throwing his knife towards the green monster, hitting him square in the eye before he could deliver the fatal blow.
An injured ear and a missing eye, both the worst injuries he had suffered in the attack so far, and both coming from the same human. It was obvious what this was going to result, the green monster turned all of his attention to Matt, who was now no hunting knife and only 3 arrows in his quiver.
