Chapter 45 - Deku x Y/N

The sun peeked through the clouds, casting a warm glow on the quaint streets of Musutafu as Y/N held Deku's hand while they walked to his house. The air was crisp with the promise of autumn, leaves rustling beneath their feet. It was an idyllic day for a holiday celebration, albeit a nervous one for Y/N.

"Are you sure your mom will be okay with this?" Y/N asked, a hint of uncertainty creeping into her voice.

Deku smiled brightly, but there was a slight twitch of worry in his eyes. "Of course! She loves meeting new people, and I thought it would be nice to have a special Thanksgiving together."

"Right… but you didn't tell her we're…" Y/N trailed off, her heart fluttering, thinking of what it meant to introduce herself as Deku's girlfriend.

"I thought it would be a fun surprise!" he said, his enthusiasm infectious despite her reservations. "It's not like it'll be awkward or anything… right?"

"Definitely not," she replied, forcing a smile. "Just a bit nerve-wracking!"

As they arrived at the small yet cozy house, the smell of roasted turkey and pumpkin pie wafted through the air. The home was adorned with colorful fall decorations, and the sight of it made Y/N's heart swell with warmth.

"Just remember," Deku said as they approached the door, "my mom can be a bit… um, enthusiastic. But she means well!"

Before Y/N could respond, the door swung open, revealing Inko Midoriya, her eyes beaming with joy. "Izuku! Welcome home!" she exclaimed, enveloping her son in a bear hug. Then, her eyes turned to Y/N, sparkling with excitement. "And you must be Y/N! Izuku's told me so much about you!"

"Y-yes, ma'am! It's so nice to meet you!" Y/N stammered, her cheeks flushing as she shook Inko's hand.

"Oh, such manners! Come in, come in! I'm so glad you're joining us for Thanksgiving!" Inko gestured for them to enter. As they stepped inside, Y/N noted the family photos on the wall—Deku as a little boy, dressed as a superhero, and another of them with a younger Inko, both beaming with joy.

The living room was filled with the aroma of delicious food, and Y/N felt her stomach rumble. "Everything smells amazing, Mrs. Midoriya!" she said, following Deku into the kitchen.

"Thank you! I've been cooking all morning! I hope you like my special mashed potatoes!" Inko continued bustling around, putting finishing touches on the meal. "Izuku has been such a wonderful help, as always."

Deku, slightly blushing under his mother's praises, cast Y/N a quick glance, silently communicating his excitement and nervousness. She smiled back, her heart softening as she watched him interact with his mother. The authenticity of their bond gave her newfound courage.

As Inko set the table, she turned to Y/N. "So, Izuku says you're in the same class! How do you like U.A.?"

Y/N took a deep breath, ready to share more about herself when Deku interjected nervously, "We're doing great, Mom! Y/N is really talented at using her Quirk. You should see her in action!"

"Aw, Izuku, that's sweet of you! And what is your Quirk, Y/N?" Inko asked, her genuine curiosity apparent.

Y/N felt her pulse quicken as she met Deku's gaze. This was the moment where she could let their relationship blossom into the conversation. "I can control the wind," she replied, her voice steadying. "It allows me to create barriers and move quickly. I love it!"

"Wow, that's incredible!" Inko's face lit up, her excitement palpable. "You both are doing amazing things at such a young age!"

Taking a deep breath, Y/N seized the opportunity. "Actually, Mrs. Midoriya, Izuku and I have been dating for a little while now." She looked at Deku, who was watching her with wide eyes, and a touch of fear.

"D-Dating?" Inko's eyes sparkled with surprise, but quickly turned to delight. "Oh, my goodness! I'm so happy for you two! Izuku, you never told me!"

"I wanted it to be the right moment!" Deku cried, his cheeks a bright shade of red.

Inko clapped her hands together, her joy infectious. "Well, you picked the perfect day! Thanksgiving is all about family, and now we can include Y/N!"

Y/N felt the tension in her shoulders dissipate. "Thank you, Mrs. Midoriya. I'm really grateful to be included in your family today."

As the dinner progressed, laughter filled the room. Y/N shared stories about her time at U.A., while Deku beamed with pride, his happiness radiating alongside hers. Inko kept the conversation flowing with her engaging charm, bringing up embarrassing stories about Deku when he was younger.

As they sat down for dessert, Y/N noticed Deku stealing glances at her, a shy smile plastered on his face. "You did it, you know," he whispered, the warmth of his voice making her heart flutter.

"Did what?" she replied, grinning.

"You made my mom happy. And I'm really glad you're here with me." His sincerity caught her off guard, and she smiled wide, her cheeks flushed.

"I'm glad to be here, too… especially with you," she said softly, feeling a sense of belonging swell in her heart.

Thanksgiving marks the beginning of many traditions, and for Y/N and Deku, it was the perfect start to a new chapter—together. As the golden leaves fell outside, they knew they had created a memory that would last a lifetime, solidifying their bond and love for one another.
