Thanksgiving had always been a time for families to gather, share laughter, and feast on delicious food. For Y/N and Tsuyu Asui, however, this Thanksgiving was set to be anything but ordinary. This was their first Thanksgiving together as a couple, and the scenery was about to shift dramatically from the familiar halls of U.A. High to the quaint, welcoming home of the Asuis.
As Y/N packed his bag that morning, he felt a mix of excitement and nerves. He had been dating Tsuyu for a year, but the thought of meeting her family sent butterflies fluttering in his stomach. Tsuyu, with her expressive eyes and endearing smile, had always made him feel at ease, yet he couldn't shake the anxious feeling at the thought of impressing her parents.
"Hey, Y/N!" Tsuyu called out, her voice melodic and bright as she bounced into the room. She wore a cozy, green sweater that reminded him of her frog-like features, and her hair was tied back in a loose ponytail. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah, I think so," Y/N replied, trying to sound confident. He took a deep breath, glancing around his room one last time before grabbing the bag and heading out. Tsuyu took his hand as they walked to the train station; her touch was comforting, grounding him amidst the swirling thoughts of what lay ahead.
The train ride to Tsuyu's hometown was filled with light banter, reminiscing about their adventures in class and small competitions they had participated in together. Tsuyu had a way of making everything feel light-hearted. Their laughter echoed in the air, easing some of Y/N's worries.
As they arrived at Tsuyu's family home, he noticed the quaint, inviting structure surrounded by the autumn leaves painting the landscape with shades of orange and red. Tsuyu looked at him, her expression a mix of excitement and apprehension.
"Okay, Y/N," she said, her voice slightly trembling. "I need to tell you something."
"What's up?" he asked, intrigued.
She bit her lip, nervously tapping her foot. "I… didn't tell my family we're dating."
Y/N's heart sank at her admission. "You didn't?"
"No," she replied, a hint of shame in her voice. "I thought it would be easier this way. I wanted to introduce you first before telling them."
Y/N nodded, trying to mask his apprehension. "So, what do we do?"
"Just… act normal," Tsuyu suggested, her eyes wide with determination but tinged with worry. "Just be yourself, okay? They'll love you."
He swallowed hard, nodding again. "Okay, I'll try my best."
They stepped through the door, greeted by the inviting aroma of turkey and stuffing. Tsuyu's family was already bustling about, preparing for the big feast. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Asui, were in the kitchen, and the lively chatter of Tsuyu's siblings filled the air with warmth.
"Tsuyu! You're back!" called out her younger brother as he sprinted toward her, engulfing her in a bear hug.
"Hey, little frog," she said with a grin, returning the hug before introducing Y/N. "This is Y/N, my… friend."
As they made their way through introductions, Y/N felt the scrutiny of the Asui family's gaze. He did his best to muster a smile, engaging in light conversation about school and his experiences at U.A. Yet, the nagging thought of not being able to fully express his feelings for Tsuyu weighed heavily on him.
Dinner was a lively affair, with laughter ringing out as stories were exchanged, and dishes were passed. Y/N found himself gradually relaxing in the warmth of the Asui family's hospitality. However, he couldn't shake the feeling that a crucial piece was missing—his relationship with Tsuyu.
"Y/N, what's your quirk?" asked Tsuyu's older sister, curious and eager to learn more about him.
"U-Um, I can create and manipulate light," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "It's not as… interesting as a frog quirk, but I love working with it."
"Cool! That must be handy in combat," her brother chimed in, eyes wide.
"Yes," Tsuyu added, "he's really good at it. He helped me out during our training exercises."
Y/N smiled, feeling proud at her acknowledgment, but he couldn't help but glance at Tsuyu and wonder how long they could keep the truth hidden. Just when he thought the topic would shift, Tsuyu's dad, with an amused twinkle in his eye, asked, "So, Y/N, do you have a girlfriend?"
Caught off guard, Y/N glanced at Tsuyu, startled. "Uh, I… Well…"
Tsuyu jumped in, though her cheeks were flushed, "Dad, I need to tell you something!" The room fell silent, all eyes turning to her.
Y/N held his breath, anxiety coursing through him. He felt Tsuyu squeeze his hand, her reassuring warmth igniting a spark of courage in him.
"I've been dating Y/N for a while now," she confessed, her voice gaining strength. "He's really special to me, and I wanted you all to know."
The room remained silent for a heartbeat, and Y/N's heart raced as he awaited their reaction—would they be accepting? Would they be angry?
Then it happened—a smile broke on Mrs. Asui's face, and she exclaimed, "Well, about time you told us! We were beginning to wonder!"
Tsuyu's father chuckled, "Welcome to the family, Y/N! We're glad you're here!"
Relief washed over Y/N, a cascade of joy flooding his system. Tsuyu's siblings cheered, and the ice shattered as laughter erupted once more.
"How about a toast?" Mrs. Asui suggested, raising her glass of sparkling cider. "To family and to new beginnings!"
As they clinked their glasses, Y/N felt a sense of belonging swell within him. It was in that moment he realized they weren't just celebrating Thanksgiving. They were embracing a future filled with love, laughter, and a shared journey.
With a glance at Tsuyu, whose eyes sparkled with happiness, Y/N smiled, knowing that this was only the beginning of many more Thanksgivings to come—together.
