Title: A Thanksgiving to Remember
Thanksgiving was just around the corner, and the air buzzed with excitement. The scent of pumpkin spice wafted through the air, mingling with the crispness of fallen leaves outside. For Y/N, this Thanksgiving held a special significance; it was her first holiday together with Jiro since they had started dating.
As she stood in front of her mirror, brushing back her hair and adjusting her sweater, Y/N felt a mix of exhilaration and nervousness. She had heard so much about Jiro's family, particularly how warm and welcoming they were, and she couldn't shake the feeling that today was going to be more than just a holiday—it was a step into Jiro's world.
As she entered the common area of U.A. High, Jiro was already waiting, nervously tapping her foot against the floor. Her glasses slipped slightly down her nose as she tugged at the sleeves of her oversized hoodie, a shroud of comfort but a veil of anxiety at the same time.
"Hey, Y/N!" she greeted with a grin, though her eyes betrayed a hint of worry.
"Hey! You ready for this?" Y/N asked, slipping her arm around Jiro's waist.
"Yeah, totally!" Jiro replied too quickly, her voice tinged with a tightness that made Y/N raise an eyebrow.
As they made their way to Jiro's home, the city's lights began to sparkle like stars. The rumble of their bikes echoed through the crisp autumn evening, but within Jiro's mind was a tempest of thoughts. She hadn't told her parents that she liked girls, let alone that she was bringing her girlfriend home for Thanksgiving.
"What if they don't like me?" Y/N unexpectedly voiced, her head leaning slightly against Jiro's shoulder.
Jiro glanced at her, feeling a pang in her chest. "They will. They're really chill, I promise."
"Are you sure?"
Jiro stole a quick glimpse at Y/N and nodded, trying to mask her own uncertainty. "Yeah... I mean, they love me, so naturally, they'll love you too."
Y/N laughed lightly, and Jiro felt her worries ease a fraction. But as they neared her house, Jiro felt her heart race in anticipation and fear.
"Ready?" Jiro asked as they stood in front of her family's home, a quaint place adorned with autumn decorations like cornucopias and hand-painted pumpkins.
"Ready as I'll ever be," Y/N replied, giving Jiro's hand a reassuring squeeze.
They stepped inside, and the aroma of roasted turkey and freshly baked pie enveloped them like a warm, comforting embrace. Jiro's parents were already bustling about, arranging the dinner table and welcoming guests.
"Jiro! You made it! And you brought a friend!" her mother exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with joy as she caught sight of Y/N.
"Hey, Mom," Jiro greeted, smiling wide but feeling a knot in her stomach.
"Is this Y/N? Oh, how lovely to finally meet you!" her mother said, enveloping Y/N in a warm hug.
"Uh, yeah! Nice to meet you too, Mrs. Jiro!" Y/N smiled, her nervousness evaporating in the warmth of Jiro's mom.
As everyone settled in the living room for pre-dinner chatting, Jiro found a moment to pull her mother aside.
"Mom, can I talk to you for a second?"
"Of course, sweetheart, what's on your mind?"
Jiro took a deep breath. "Um… I wanted to tell you something about Y/N."
"Oh?" Her mother's expression shifted to one of genuine curiosity.
"I really like her. Like… she's my girlfriend."
A moment of silence stretched, and Jiro's heart raced.
"Jiro, honey, that's wonderful! Why were you nervous to tell me?" her mother smiled, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I thought you might not understand, or maybe be disappointed…"
"Sweetheart, all I want is for you to be happy. And if Y/N makes you happy, then I'm thrilled!"
Returning to the living room, Jiro felt a surge of relief and happiness. As the evening progressed, laughter and conversation flowed, with Y/N charming her way into Jiro's family's hearts.
In the midst of joyful chaos, a plate filled with food was placed in front of Y/N, and she marveled at the feast—turkey, cranberries, stuffing, and her favorite, pecan pie.
"Wow! Did you guys make all of this?" she exclaimed.
"Of course, we did! You have to try everything!" Jiro's mother urged, offering Y/N a slice of pie.
"So, Y/N, what are your plans for after graduation?" Jiro's father asked, fully engaged.
Y/N smiled, glancing at Jiro. "I'm planning to go into hero training. I want to follow my passions and help people, just like Jiro."
The evening continued to unfold effortlessly, and Jiro felt grateful. Her parents had embraced Y/N, and the weight of her earlier worries began to dissipate.
As the night drew to a close, Y/N found herself sitting against Jiro on the couch, a blanket draped over both of them. Their fingers intertwined, Y/N looked at Jiro, a soft smile playing on her lips.
"You were right. They're amazing," Y/N said softly.
"Yeah, I guess they are! Thanks for being here, Y/N," Jiro replied, her soul feeling warm and fulfilled.
"Thanks for bringing me," Y/N said, leaning in to plant a soft kiss on Jiro's cheek.
As Jiro's heart swelled with affection, she realized that no matter the uncertainties, they had made cherished memories together that night. This Thanksgiving wasn't just a meal; it was the promise of new beginnings, acceptance, and the warmth that comes from love—love that they both were beginning to understand fully.
In that moment, surrounded by love and laughter, they knew they would always have each other.
