The fluorescent lights of Class 1-A's common room were dimmed low, casting a cozy, albeit eerie glow around the room. Halloween was in full swing, and the anticipation hung thick in the air.
After the successful prank pulled off by Sero and Kaminari the previous night—where they managed to scare their classmates into screams and laughter during Friday the 13th—the trio of Bakugo, Mina, and Kirishima were brewing a plan of their own.
As the clock ticked closer to movie time, the trio gathered in the corner, whispering conspiratorially.
"We can't let them get away with that!" Bakugo scowled, crossing his arms.
"Exactly! We need to give them a taste of their own medicine," Mina chirped, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
Kirishima, with his trademark smile, nodded in agreement. "How about we use props? Something that connects to Ghostface?"
"What about a fake body?" Bakugo suggested, an evil grin creeping across his face.
Mina jumped, her mind racing with ideas. "Oh! We could dress it up in a Ghostface costume and have it 'pop up' when they least expect it!"
Within moments, Kirishima had dashed off to the supply room, and with Mina's help, they erected a makeshift ghostly figure using a mop, an old sheet, and a painted mask they had salvaged from last year's Halloween celebration. They placed the ghostly figure right behind the couch, perfectly positioned to spring at Kaminari and Sero during the film.
As the clock struck seven, the room filled with chatter as their classmates filed in. Among them, Kaminari and Sero, oblivious to the brewing storm, settled into their seats, obnoxiously munching on popcorn and boasting about their prank prowess from the night before.
When the opening credits of Ghostface began to roll, Bakugo, Mina, and Kirishima exchanged giddy glances, barely containing their excitement. Bakugo grabbed the remote, paused the movie, and made an announcement.
"Hey idiots! Before we start, how about a little trivia? What's scarier than Ghostface?"
Sero, ever the joker, snorted. "I don't know, Bakugou. Your face without makeup?"
Laughter erupted around the room, but Bakugo waved it off, "No! What's scarier is that mop over there!" He pointed dramatically toward the ghostly figure.
Mina couldn't hold back her laughter. "Yeah, it might just pop up at you!"
Kaminari and Sero glanced at the mop, sharing puzzled expressions. "Yeah, right."
Bakugo pressed play. The movie plunged into tense conversations followed by thrilling chase scenes, filling the room with suspense. The room was alive with nervous giggles and surprised gasps as Ghostface appeared on screen.
Just when the movie reached its climactic moment, Bakugo motioned to the waiting Kirishima. With a grin, Kirishima plunged his hand into an old box of sound effects they'd saved from the student festival, sending the eerie sound of a ghostly moan echoing throughout the room.
Sero jumped in fright, nearly toppling off the couch, while Kaminari's eyes zipped around the room, trying to locate the source of the noise. "What was that?!"
The classmates erupted into raucous laughter, but Bakugo and the others didn't stop there. At the perfect moment, they yanked the sheet off the mop, revealing the Ghostface costume while Kirishima had also grabbed a dim flashlight to create eerie shadows.
"BOO!" Bakugo yelled, thrusting the mop in Sero's direction.
Sero screamed, nearly screaming "Yamada!" as he scrambled backwards, colliding with the couch and knocking over several classmates in his wake.
Kaminari, knocked off balance by Sero's antics, added to the chaos by jumping up and yelling, "IT'S COMING FOR US!" He flailed his arms wildly, knocking over snacks, which only added to the pandemonium.
Mina, barely able to catch her breath amidst laughter, shouted, "OPERATION REVENGE SUCCESS!"
After the initial shock subsided, the room finally calmed down, with Sero and Kaminari cackling along with Bakugo, Mina, and Kirishima. Though they were the targets of the prank, the atmosphere of camaraderie and light-hearted fun enveloped them.
"Well played!" Kaminari admitted, wiping a tear from his eye. "You got us good!"
Bakugo crossed his arms, trying to appear aloof even while a smug grin tugged at his lips. "Yeah, don't think this means I'll go easy on you two next time."
Kirishima added, "I'm just glad we've all had a good scare together."
With the final echoes of laughter ringing in the air, the group settled back down, prepared to watch the rest of the film—and undoubtedly to plan their next round of pranks in their ongoing Halloween movie marathon.
