Ning Shu headed to the nurse's office to see the school doctor uncle. Upon entering, she was greeted by the sight of the room packed with patients. She couldn't help but wonder what exactly the school doctor was doing here, considering how much Instructor Headshot feared him.
There had to be a reason. How could someone so intimidating simply be an ordinary school doctor?
When the school doctor noticed Ning Shu, he raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Eh? You're actually still alive? Didn't you go to the shooting range?"
Ning Shu: …
She nearly spat blood. This guy knew the shooting range was crawling with homicidal maniacs, yet he didn't bother to warn her before she strolled in casually.
How could a person be this malicious? Did any truth, goodness, and beauty still exist in his heart?
Ning Shu forced a smile and said, "Thanks for your concern."
She patted the lady's pistol at her waist, trying to look unfazed.
The school doctor glanced at her and said, "Are you having trouble with the school flower, Ling Xue?"
"Even you know Ling Xue? I guess her fame really does spread far and wide," Ning Shu replied, looking at him in disbelief. "Wait, Uncle, no way, right?"
"No way what?"
"You haven't fallen for Ling Xue too, have you?" Ning Shu felt the weight of the world on her shoulders.
The school doctor raised an eyebrow. "What makes you think I would like Ling Xue?"
Wherever the female lead went, she effortlessly knocked all the guys out of contention. No man could escape the influence of her Mary Sue halo. Plus, the school doctor was tall, handsome, and fit—perfectly suited to be a supporting male lead.
"Uncle, there are plenty of women in the world. Why hang yourself on a single tree?" Ning Shu was practically on the verge of tears. How was she supposed to defeat the female lead if this uncle had feelings for her?
She felt like she was about to crumble, practically kneeling to beg the school doctor for mercy.
The school doctor rubbed his forehead, eyeing Ning Shu as she wailed in despair. In an uncharacteristic display of frustration, he stomped on her leg.
"Ow, what the—! Seriously, dude?" Ning Shu clasped her leg, shooting him a glare. Life felt so unfair. If it were the female lead crying, he would've pulled her into his arms. Even the most useless guy would at least offer some tissues.
"Don't act like that in front of me. It's nauseating. And since you're ugly, don't be so pretentious," the school doctor said coldly.
Ning Shu: …
For some reason, the school doctor now seemed devoid of the gentle aura she'd first sensed from him. Not even his glasses could mask the malice glinting in his eyes.
Crap, could he be a fiend in human skin trying to wreak havoc?
"How's your practice going? You can shoot now, right?" he asked.
Ning Shu extended her hand, a hint of pride in her voice. "I can hit the five rings now."
What the heck were five rings? The school doctor looked at her oddly. "You're telling me that after all this practice, you can only hit the target?"
Ning Shu's smile faltered. For some reason, his disdain made her feel utterly useless. She had gone from a naive little sis to a little sis who could shoot. Wasn't that a profound transformation?
Ning Shu shamelessly called herself a little sis in her mind.
"You've probably embarrassed me in front of everyone at the shooting range," the school doctor said, his glasses glinting ominously.
Ning Shu had initially wanted to tell him about Instructor Headshot teaching her, but she quickly abandoned the idea. If she struggled even with a teacher, revealing that might just lead the school doctor to obliterate her completely.
