When it was Ning Shu's turn, she sat down in the chair and said, "Help treat my face."
The doctor raised an eyebrow as he looked at her. He picked up a cotton swab and dipped it in rubbing alcohol, asking, "What happened this time? Your head is still swollen, and yet you've already gotten injured again?"
"I know I'm quite popular, but there's no need to abuse yourself like this. Aiy, your face is all scratched up," he continued, jabbing the cotton swab at Ning Shu's face. "How ruthless must you be to injure your own face this severely?"
When the rubbing alcohol made contact with the open wounds, Ning Shu's face contorted in pain. Yet beside her, the narcissistic doctor continued to chatter away.
"Shut up! You're so annoying. I got beaten up; it's not self-inflicted!" Ning Shu shouted. This was seriously enough already.
The doctor pushed up his glasses slightly, a ray of light refracting off his eyes. He didn't respond; he simply applied more pressure with his movements.
Ning Shu quickly changed her tone, saying, "I was wrong. Please go more gently."
Sighing, worn out by her experiences, she looked at her reflection in the mirror, which was covered in band-aids. There seemed to be a bandage on every single scratch. Ning Shu felt like this doctor was about to mess her up even more.
Was there some bad blood between the original host and the school doctor?
Ning Shu couldn't very well return to class with a face full of band-aids, so she decided to head back to her apartment. However, just as she stepped out of the school gates, she saw someone who looked like Ling Xue sneak into an alley.
Ning Shu wanted to follow, but then she remembered that Ling Xue was a cultivator. Her senses were very keen, and she would definitely notice if someone was spying on her.
Nevertheless, Ning Shu's curiosity gnawed at her. In the end, she decided to follow Ling Xue after all.
She didn't dare make a sound. After a moment of thought, she took out two handkerchiefs and wrapped them around her feet, ensuring that her shoes wouldn't make noise against the ground.
There was no need to ask how Ning Shu knew to do this; she had learned it all from watching cheesy detective movies.
Ning Shu crept forward and poked her head out to look into the alley. She saw Ling Xue talking with a man. No matter how hard she strained her ears, she couldn't make out what they were saying.
Suddenly, she saw Ling Xue extend her hand and place it on the man's head. The man immediately displayed an elated expression.
Ling Xue had her back to Ning Shu, so she couldn't see her face. All she could see was Ling Xue's hair and garments rising as if caught in a wind.
However, Ning Shu couldn't feel any wind. The scene was unusually strange.
