Violet tried calling Alexa's line, but it wasn't going through.
She sighed after trying it for the seventh time. She drafted an apology note, before inserting it in Alexa's purse which she left behind.
"Knock, knock"
"I'm coming, please hold on"
Violet got to the door, and saw a delivery man, holding a box. "I have a package for Miss Violet Wilson" the delivery man said.
"I'm Violet" She answered, wondering what was to be delivered, since she didn't order anything.
"Please sign here" The man said, giving her a paper. After signing in all the necessary places, he handed a box to her, and left immediately.
She took it inside, and opened it. "Woah" She muttered, removing the dress that she found inside the box.
It was a silver long gown, slitted to the knee area. She saw a note, poking inside the box and she read it.
"Get dressed. I'll come pick you in ten"
She needed no soothsayer to tell her that it's from Adrian. "So straightforward" She muttered, a smile plastered on her face, as she wore the dress.
How did he know her exact size?
Because the dress glued to her like a second skin, the slit showcasing her toned legs. It was like it was specially made for her.
She did a little makeup, which highlighted her beauty. She nodded her head in satisfaction, after she was done.
She was still checking herself out, when she had a honk.
"That was fast" She mumbled, and checked outside through the window.
Adrian was leaning against the car, looking hot and dazzling in his silver tuxedo.
Violet stepped out, her curvy hips swaying from side to side as she walked.
Adrian checked her out, but said nothing, and Violet almost scoffed.
Can't he just compliment her, even if it's a little.
"Thanks for the dress, sir" She said, trying to start up a conversation.
"Drop the 'sir'." He said, without looking at her, and she nodded.
"How did you know my size. It's too coincidental that it fits this properly, without a prior knowledge of my dress size" She asked, not able to conceal her curiosity.
"Just a guess" He shrugged, and she turned her face, rolling her eyes.
"My marriage life is going to be so boring. It's a contract marriage, but still... having a cold robot as my husband, for a whole year is definitely going to be overbearing" She muttered.
After completing half of the journey I'm silence, Adrian spoke up "Remember all the instructions I gave you. Elder Jerry is the only one you are to give full respects to." He said.
"And Deja too" He added, and Violet nodded. She had already taken a mental note of the names of his family members and their characters, as he had explained to her.
"If anyone tries to trash talk you, you know what to do" He said, and Violet couldn't help but wonder what is family is like, that the only person he gives accolades to is his grandfather.
She had also noticed, that throughout the whole talk about his family, he never mentioned his mother.
Her mind drifted back to the picture she had seen in his house earlier.
Could that be his mother?
"Welcome young master" A guard said, greeting Adrian, and Violet looked around her in awe.
The Browns Estate.
She has only heard about it, she had never seen it before.
Different buildings, all in the same design, stood tall and resplendent. Their gloss wall paintings shining.
However, there was a particular building that stood out.
Its beauty looking thrice as grand as others.
"We are here" Adrian announced, and parked the car.
Violet exhaled briefly, looking around her. She felt like she was in a new world entirely. Everything about this environment was screaming 'filthy rich!'
It had been a long time since she found herself in such an environment. Would she be able to cope? How would she fit in? Though from a rich family herself, she hardly got to enjoy the wealth of her parents.
She had lived no better than a maid all her life. How would she fit into the family of the richest in the country.
"Are you scared?"
Adrian's voice broke her chain of thoughts, and she shook her head slightly. Is he a mind-reader?
"Good." He said.
He got down and Violet followed suite. She stole a glance at him, and she wasn't surprised to meet his face without emotions.
"Adrian" Elder Jerry called from within, immediately he saw Adrian.
His wrinkled face beaming with smiles. Only Deja and Elsa were with him.
"Adrian" Deja rushed to him, ruffling his hair, while he gave her a playful glare.
"Grandad" Adrian greeted, and Violet did the same.
"Who's this beauty" Elder Jerry asked, looking at Violet, who had a smile on her face.
She looked around the room, only to notice Elsa staring daggers at them. "She looks familiar" Violet muttered.
"Grandad, I want you to meet Violet; my wife" Adrian stated, and the room became silent, all eyes on Violet.
"Your wife?" Luke, who was just coming out of his study room asked; his eyes fixated on Violet.
Violet shifted uncomfortably, before bowing slightly. "I'm Violet Wilson, it's a pleasure to meet you sir."
"You got married already?" Elder Jerry shifted his gaze to Adrian, his brows raised.
"Married?" Elsa muttered, her brows furrowed together, as she clenched her fist.
"Yes, grandad" Adrian answered and Elder Jerry scrutinized Violet. He still couldn't believe what Adrian is telling him.
"How could you just get married? Without anyone's consent, without my consent!" Elder Jerry flared up, his face crumpling.
He had always wished to give Adrian a befitting wedding. However, he knows about Adrian's issue with the opposite gender, so he had kept his calm; hoping things will change one day.
So telling him that he suddenly got married, out of the blues is shocking.
"Meet me in my room, young man" He grumbled, going in with his walking stick as aid, and Adrian followed him.
Violet bit her lips, worriedly, as she felt the cold stares on her.
"So you got married to Adrian, huh?" A feminine voice asked, and Violet turned to Elsa who had a scorn look on her face.
"Elsa, leave her alone" Deja warned, and Elsa scoffed.
"Tell me, how much did he pay you?"
"Pardon?"
"How much did that fool pay you, slut?"
Violet's hair stood on end, her aura turning cold.
"Excuse me, what did you just call me?"
"I called you a slut. Because I'm sure Adrian picked you on the roadside and dressed you up or something, just to impress grandfather." She hissed, maliciously.
"I don't know who you are, but it's obvious you are quite saucy." She fired back.
"How dare you!" Elsa yelled, raising her hand to slap Violet.
Deja quickly rushed to stop her, but Violet already did. "Don't you dare!" Violet glared, her gaze icy.
"Feisty—I like her," Elder Jerry chuckled, as he watched them.
