By this time Gordon was just plain tired. It was far into the night, he was cold, and the psychological dread of attacking a fortified position was causing his moral to sink. It would be different if he had some good skills and a fighting style. But right now he was a level zero, basically dead weight for his fighting partner.

Looking over at his fighting partner and saw that she was focused. The black dust had built up to the point where the light of the sun coming over the horizon behind them was only a dim hazy light.
Speaking of which looking back down on this world was remarkable. Even blurred by the dark dust a faint feeling of reverence for the vastness of this world. Oceans and continents that he had only seen in half remembered maps from school. Seeing at least one half of the world for real was different from what he had always imagined.
