They made their way down to the catacombs of the castle. Here there were a network of water ways. Despite a tiny bit of airflow the walls still beaded up damp. A slightly feral smell of blood and mold was endemic. And while the stone was stained from years of hard water deposit and age it was still possible to see the white blocks of stone underneath. It looked like the same stone that the entire castle was made from. Only down here no care was taken to make the stone sparkle.
Vermin scurried away in the light from their lanterns as they moved forward along a path Marcus the monk led them through. Fortunately they stayed in the main tunnels and it wasn't that far to the place he was taking them.
