Chapter 54 - Marvel Scientist Becomes God, Ch 44.1

This kind of dark humor was also played out by Magneto in the original story. After Magneto kidnapped Senator Kelly, he used a self-developed electromagnetic device to activate the dormant X-gene within him, turning Kelly into a mutant. Unfortunately, his cellular structure was unstable, resulting in his ultimate breakdown.

The device Magneto created had many flaws and was far from perfect. He was unable to produce an efficient activation device, likely due to his limited understanding of human genetics compared to Ye Hai's. If this device were handed over to Ye Hai, he was confident he could perfect it in a short time.

Transforming a fighter against mutants into a mutant—what a fascinating prospect! What would Senator Kelly do when he discovered he, too, was a mutant? How would he face the ordinary people who supported him?

Thinking about such an intriguing situation energized Ye Hai. He decided to leave his hotel and fly directly to the School for Gifted Youngsters.

Currently, Norman Osborn had many S.H.I.E.L.D. agents lurking around. To keep his research on mutants under wraps, Ye Hai transferred all his laboratory data to the mutant academy. However, he hadn't visited that lab often recently as he had been busy addressing Norman Osborn's genetic issues.

"Hello, Dr. Ye. What brings you to the lab so late?"

As he entered the lab, he unexpectedly ran into Phoenix Girl, Jean Grey. Her blue eyes reflected a sense of agitation, likely stemming from a troubling meeting earlier that day.

"Your presentation was excellent today," Ye Hai said with a smile. "Senator Kelly is just a politician. His tactics to attract votes and increase his support are despicable. The truth is, he doesn't care about the goodness or badness of mutants; he merely exploits the ordinary public's fear of mutants for his own gain. What do average people know about mutants? How many of them have actually seen a mutant? Most of their understanding comes from hearsay. The pressures of everyday life leave them exhausted and angry, needing a way to vent. They feel a mix of fear, envy, and jealousy towards mutant abilities, leading them to lash out at these unfortunate mutants who cannot defend themselves and lack a voice. News outlets, driven by their interests, exaggerate the dangers posed by mutants, escalating the current situation."

Jean's eyes sparked with a new light. It was rare to hear such profound insights from anyone, especially since most of the X-Men like Cyclops and Storm were courageous fighters without clear perspectives on mutant issues.

"The only person in this academy who might possess such wisdom and insight is Professor X," Jean thought to herself. Then she eagerly asked, "Dr. Ye, do you have a solution? Is there any way to change our situation?"

Ye Hai chuckled lightly. "It's quite simple. We need to increase our numbers—whether they be government officials or businessmen. If many of them are mutants, do you think the government will continue to oppose mutants? Once the government stops opposing us, controlling public sentiment will become easy."

Imagine a society where the elite of politics and business are mutants—it was an amusing thought for Ye Hai. Suddenly, it crossed his mind that ever since Professor X became aware of his existence, he had been eager to collaborate with Ye Hai. Perhaps that old man was also considering this idea?

"But the elites in politics and business can't become mutants," Jean replied with a bit of disbelief, thinking Ye Hai was joking.
