Chapter 18 - Marvel, Scientist Becomes God, Ch 18

"You better tell your other brother to leave my girlfriend alone, or I don't know what I might do," Ye Hai said coldly, glaring at Mystique. He tightened his grip slightly, causing Mystique to feel her bones creaking painfully, as if they were being cut by a knife.

Mystique quickly nodded and said, "I understand, I understand, Burton! Stay in position and don't act!"

Burton was the third mutant, lurking in the control room of the Osborn building. Through the garage's security cameras, he could see everything clearly. Although he felt anxious, he had to stay put upon receiving Mystique's command, helplessly watching Gwen safely take the elevator down.

Before long, Gwen arrived at the basement level of the building. Upon seeing her holding the hand of a beautiful woman, she frowned and asked, "Ye, what happened to this lady?"

Ye Hai smiled slightly and pointed towards Sabretooth's direction, saying, "Look over there!"

Gwen saw Sabretooth's condition and screamed, "What's going on?"

Ye Hai chuckled and replied, "Don't worry, everything is under control. Do you know Magneto? These two are his subordinates. They originally wanted to capture me for their research, but unfortunately for them, they didn't know I'm their brother—haha!"

However, Gwen still worriedly said, "This is escalating; there are cameras everywhere. Your identity will be exposed."

Ye Hai shrugged nonchalantly. "If it's exposed, then so be it. I have my ways."

Mystique interjected with a forced smile, "Don't worry, I'll have Burton delete the video footage here. Dr. Ye won't be exposed. But if Dr. Ye is concerned about his situation, he might consider joining our Brotherhood of Mutants. It's all mutants in there, so no one would reject you, be wary of you, or fear you..."

Ye Hai interrupted, "I'm living well right now and don't want to get involved in anti-human endeavors. Like I told you, I just enjoy scientific research. If there's any peculiar research to conduct, we can collaborate."

"Alright, I'll report your thoughts to the leader," Mystique nodded. "So, Dr. Ye, can we leave now?"

"Of course." Ye Hai smiled as he took the syringe from Gwen's hand. "Just give me a little blood."

Mystique's expression changed drastically. "What are you planning to do?"

Ye Hai was taken aback, not expecting such a strong reaction from her. After a moment's thought, he understood. If the X-Men series had indeed occurred in this world, the government would have been studying mutants. Mystique herself had been imprisoned and tortured as a test subject, witnessing many mutants treated like lab rats in horrific experiments. Hence, her deep resentment towards humanity was understandable.

Ultimately, she was a pitiable woman.

Feeling a touch of sympathy, Ye Hai said softly, "Don't worry, I am a mutant. As a member of this community, it's a fact that can't be changed. So you don't need to fear that I'm going to conduct any experiments against mutants. I'm merely interested in mutant genetics for basic research. Perhaps I could uncover the secrets of mutants, allowing humanity to evolve together as mutants. Once we are all brothers and sisters, there wouldn't be any more conflict—haha!"

Ye Hai chuckled at his own words; he knew it was just a joke. Even if all humanity became mutants, conflicts would still arise because humans are inherently combative beings.

Mystique's expression softened, and she scoffed, "You're just a kid who has read a few books, thinking you can research mutants? Many human scientists have struggled for decades without results. Do you really think you can?"

"Believe it or not, it's up to you," Ye Hai smiled slightly as he inserted the syringe into Mystique's arm, watching the syringe gradually fill with blood, feeling a rush of excitement.

After obtaining Mystique's blood, Ye Hai swiftly moved over to Sabretooth, pulling him out from against the wall. With a quick shake of his arm, Sabretooth woke up, growling threateningly. His roar was reminiscent of a tiger—no wonder he was called Sabretooth.

"Don't worry, little tiger, I just need a bit of blood!" Ye Hai said lightly.

"Roar!"

Sabretooth roared, swiping his long claws at lightning speed, but Ye Hai simply clasped his hands and tightly held both of his arms. No matter how much Sabretooth struggled, he pinned him under his armpit and walked over to Gwen.

"Gwen, help me draw some blood," Ye Hai smiled at his girlfriend.

"Okay." Gwen was somewhat frightened by the beast-like Sabretooth and nervously fumbled with the syringe, struggling to insert it.

In the end, Mystique snatched the syringe from Gwen and forcefully jabbed it into Sabretooth's arm. After drawing the blood, she looked angrily at Ye Hai. "Now, can we leave?"

"Of course. You two take care!" Ye Hai casually tossed Sabretooth aside.

The two mutants hurriedly jumped into a car and sped away.

Ye Hai excitedly looked at the mutant blood in his hand; he could once again merge mutant genes!
