See, Mahika didn't become the foremost city of magic and technology overnight.
Mahika was once a small village unlucky enough to be caught in the middle of the 300 Years War. With ravaging and destruction along with other villages of the 6 nations of Studiosus, Mahika might as well be wiped clean off the map. But it wasn't until a group of Druids called the Green Vita that saw this village and swore to protect by conjuring a great wall made of trees.
Tired from the constant war and rumors of war that they have witnessed for 300 years straight, the Druidic elves finally found a place to stop by but also a small community to nurture back to its former state. They made sure that the villagers were given what they needed. The gravely ill have been back to their feet thanks to the Green Vita's healing, the hungry have been fed thanks to their ability to conjure plants with their magic and knolwedge of husbandry, and the homeless found themselves in a humble and happy abode once more.Â
Once the 300 Year War came to an end, the druids put down the great wall, reassuring that the villagers are now safe from any drastic harm. However, the villagers wanted to learn their ways so that they can sustain themselves in time the way they did to them during the war. So the druids taught them magic before they left to travel to other nations. Little did they know of the ways the villagers would develop.
The villagers, who were only taught magic related to plants and animals, found and developed ways to further their abilities beyond that. They were able to repair things without the need for tools. They were able to understand the language of animals. They were able to create magic for combat to protect their innocent. Hoping to spread their magic to the world, they founded a school for those who seek to learn magic. Mahika University of Magic was the one thing that put them on the map.
In the modern day, Mahika became a great city, often renowned for its integration of magic and technology, race diversity, and high-quality education. Elves who are once famed for their ancient magic abilities and longevity are now able to work as teachers and models. Kitsunes, people who are capable of shifting from fox to humanoid, who are once endangered due to the price of their 9 tails, are protected in Mahika city, but they often opt to work in the entertainment industry and are often popular singers and actors. Tieflings who used to terrorize society in ancient times are now friendly people who serve the public and work as business people.
So you think Mahika is a great peaceful city, right? Well, there are still times where accidents or crimes happen, some more mysterious and hard to solve. Which is why I, Katie Aiken, swore to myself to be involved to this field to keep Mahika City a great and honorable place.
