Meanwhile, Wesley Jameson and his Crew had just landed in the City, and we're currently exiting the City airport. He had flown out of the state to finish a deal that needed his urgent attention.
Now that he was back, it was time to oversee the project.
"Hey, you have to see this." Cross suddenly said, bringing his tablet to Wesley's face.
Wesley looked at what he was referring to and his eyes squinted, peering closer to look at the face of the lady in the news.
His lips curled up and he smirked, letting out a shrewd remark.
"Well, I'd be damned."
"Did you know something like this would happen?" Cross asked, lowering the tablet and Wesley snapped out of it.
He wasn't amused at the situation but rather at the lady on the news.
Wesley had arranged for the demolition to start immediately, targeting Maguire Coles shop to be among the first structures to be demolished.
But he did not instruct Sebastian, the elderly-looking man who was commanding the process, to bulldoze an innocent girl.
The news simply depicted a helpless yet foolish girl who seemed to be trying her best to stop Mr. Maguires Arcade from being demolished, despite the bulldozer that was right in front of her, threatening to tear her down.
And that innocent yet foolish girl was none other than the lady who had given him quite an unforgettable night.
What a twist.
"Demian," Cross called out to the driver who stood in front of the car that was ready to take them to their destination. "We'll head to the site first," he said and Demian nodded in obedience. "Let's go." He said to Wesley and he nodded.
They got in the car and Damien drove speedily, heading south to where the demolition site was.
The remaining line of care that tailed after them closely consisted of Wesley's entourage, making such a grand display of wealth and influence.
Luckily for them, the site for the mall was just close by, and in no time, they had arrived.
The car screeched and halted behind the crowd.
Cross got down hurriedly and raced towards the scene.
If one did not understand the situation properly, they would've assumed that he was a relative of the girl who was about to be torn down with the building. Even Wesley couldn't tell why he was acting so concerned about the situation.
Cross pushed past the crowd of onlookers. Some people had their phones capturing everything.
Wesley's men pulled out of the car and began to chase the people away, paving a clear road for Wesley and trying to stop them from capturing him on their phones.
Cross finally made it to the front of Mr Maguire Arcade; the bulldozer was about to tear down the roof above Charlotte, who was shutting her eyes and standing her ground.
Seriously, was it worth it?
"Skipper stop!" Cross yelled, but his voice was not loud enough as the bulldozer's engine drowned it immediately.
So, he rushed to the front before the bulldozer could tear down the building with Charlotte in front and yelled once more,
"Stop this right away! What the hell do you think you're doing?"
Skipper recognized Cross to be Wesley's secretary. He was, after all, the one who picked them out to do the job.
Skipper, who was manning the bulldozer, looked at their boss, Sebastian, wondering what to do now.
He was worried that they were in trouble since they were planning to tear down the building with a girl still in front.
"Stop everything." Sebastian said, waving his hand at them. "Mister Cross, we weren't expecting you." He said and Cross, with a creased forehead, stomped towards him and grabbed his shirt.
"Are you crazy? Were you really planning to tear this place down with a girl in front?"
"Of course not." Sebastian said. "I was giving her a scare. She would've run away in a matter of seconds. She's not a Superman who can fend something like this off."
"Open your eyes." Cross said and pointed at Charlotte who still had her eyes closed and was shaking in fear. "Does it look like she's ready to step away because of fear?"
Sebastian looked at Charlotte and wondered if she was dumb.
She wanted to put her life down for a building that was not even under her name.
Charlotte was thinking the same thing.
Just what in the world was she thinking doing something like this?
If she died, who would take care of her younger brother, grandmother, and then her mother, who needed money regularly since she was in a comatose condition?
'Am I a fool?' She asked herself, biting her lips. 'This shit isn't even worth it. Why did I go this far?'
She trembled.
She was scared.
Then, she felt someone walk up to her and slowly, she opened her eyes.
And the person standing in front of her was none other than the guy she had spent the night with. Her eyes shrunk in.
"Hello, Miss. Long time no see." He said, smiling.
"You... You are that guy." She pointed out.
"I'm so touched that you remember me after our fun night." He said but she frowned. "Well, I see you're pretty occupied," he used his fingers to point at the chains around her. "...at the moment. But..." He raised his gaze and peered into hers. "...that's not gonna stop me from taking you away from here. So, choose. Either you take off that thing around you by yourself or I'll get my men to do it. And once I do that, I'm gonna carry you out of here. The choice is yours."
Charlotte was completely lost.
What did he say? Have his men do what?
Wait, first off, who was he and why did he think he could just say something and his bidding would be done?
"Are you still thinking of what to choose?" He asked and she blinked. "Then, don't mind me. I'll just do what I see fit. It's not good for a pretty lady to be around 'dangerous' things." He smiled and snapped his fingers.
His men came forward and broke the chains in an instant.
Something the others did not think of doing.
Cross watched this and wondered why Wesley was taking charge by himself.
They were on camera now, so maybe he was just trying to boost his reputation as the guy who saved a girl from being torn down at a demolition sight.
But what he did next shocked Cross.
Wesley took Charlotte's hand and suddenly flung her over his shoulder.
"You... What are you doing?" She asked, struggling.
"Stay still. You've been a bad girl." He said but she was adamant.
What in the world did he think he was doing? She wouldn't stay still and let him do whatever he wanted.
She wouldn't...
Then, he smacked her butt, shocking everyone, including herself.
"I told you to stay still." He said. "You have yourself to blame."
Charlotte's face went red in shame. Did he... Did he just slap her butt?
How... How dare he?
But she was so scared of it repeating itself that she no longer struggled.
Wesley smirked and exclaimed,
"Works every time."
