Chapter 10 - Lowlife Tech Company

"Hold it man, you actually don't understand the gravity of what you did. Do you?" Cross raised his brows.

"But for that pestilent apron she had on…" Wesley ignored Cross' remarks and was still trap in his world of fantasy.

"Wesley Jameson Junior, you are freaking trending online! Do you realize that?!" Cross said sternly which made Wesley snap out of his thoughts.

"What the hell man?" Wesley responded rather irked by his sudden outburst.

He let out a sigh, looking Wesley over. "You better do something about her. She has a family and she must be freaking out right now cause that place is almost hidden in this country."

"Oh please."

Cross' eyes widened. "You don't get it. She could sue you-"

"From the look of things she can't even pay for consultation, talk more funding a whole lawsuit." He winced, playing with the pen in his hands against a Jotter.

"True…" Cross whispered. Risking her life for an ordinary job echoes the obvious.

"Cross"

"Yea"

"Do me a favour. I want you to look into Little Miss for me."he pauses, "I want every damn detail about her"

There's a glit in Cross' eyes. "Ok boss"

Cross Harris apart from being a bad ass assistant to the impossible-to-put-up-with  boss of his, he outrun detectives in their own job of investigation. And he loved the mystery. The Glit in his eyes gave off the excitement in his heart. Wesley lips played a smile.

"See ya butthead!" He dashed out.

Wesley is left alone. He picks up some papers and begins to look through them.

Later at Wesley's condo.

"What did I hear you say Rachel?" Wesley ask with fury in his eyes. He was welcomed by an assemble of his maids in the parking lot where he sighted Rachel interrogating one of them who shivered whilst she spoke.

"I'm sorry boss, your guest has escaped." Rachel announced with a fallen gaze.

Wesley sudden switch from fury to amusement was so abrupt that it sent chills down the spines of each woman standing. They dare not look him in the eyes. He let out a laugh.

"How clever?" He isn't move but rather mused by Charlottes rascality. So long he was in this country l, she can never hide from him.

A week later…

Chairman's office, Jameson Co. Limited, Country z.

"Here you go, the compilation you asked for" Cross tosses over a chip to Wesley who catches it on time before it hits the table with his fast reflexes.

He plugs it to him laptop.

"Every damn detail…" Cross points out sounding like a crackhead. Wesley's eyes him taking his attention back on the screen.

"Thanks my bro." Wesley sighs.

"By the way Wes, her family has quite a bad debt history." Cross states with a concerned looked, biting his lips almost nervously.

"Just like I suspected." Wesley exhaled looking interminently at the screen.

"Explains her desperation to keep her job." Cross speaks rather reflective. Wesley has on a smirk and a proud look at his assistant slash best friend.

"I got Taylor to keep tabs on her." Wesley says pressing his back against the rollable chair.

"Taylor?" Cross expression switched to irritated at the mention of the name 'Taylor', he's a tall hairy and sweaty guy who works as a private investigator and has been one of Wesley's patron anytime he bids a work done. Cross hates the guy because he is gay.

"Stop with the face man. Why be so homophobic?" Wesley cracks up at Cross disgusted face. Years ago, Taylor had approached his beautiful assistant Cross for a relationship.

"Taylor updated me on her. She now works at a bar where the pay is quite at the top. Made me more curious, turns out the bar owner intends to put Charlotte in the night workers line of business."

"Are you kidding me?" Cross' eyes widened in disbelief.

"No matter of fact, here's a clip from last night." Wesley plays a video on his tab to Cross.

"Yea, these men were harassing her while she served them drinks. The bar owner gave them a go ahead prior to this. Lucky for her, I had my men watching her ever since Taylor updated me on her new job. They intervened early enough."

"That poor lady must be traumatized." Cross stated with a concerned look.

"She really is in a tight corner. A graduate but has no good job, that bar pays twice of what she earned as a systems engineer at Maguires arcade or any lowlife tech company around pays." Wesley stated.

Cross watched Wesley mused. He has never been this concerned about a woman. And yet the sad  look on his face and how he'd bit his finger nervously, how worried he sounds.

"So what's next Devil? You seem a little too concerned about-"

"Hush man," Wesley pulls out his cellphone to take a call.
