Chapter 9 - The Peacock Is Back

Kaloyan couldn't believe his ears. How on earth would his mom tell him to get married to Danica of all people? That bitch! Besides, his mom shouldn't be the one to choose a wife for him, he could do that himself.

"Is this some sort of sick joke?" Kaloyan raised his brows at Emilia who shook her head swiftly.

"Of course not, Logan."

"See mom, I'm not getting married to that lady." He said, pretending not to know her.

Emilia smirked and dialed her husband's number. "Maybe after talking with your dad, you'd tell him that."

"Mom…. don't…."

Ethan picked up immediately. "Hello sweetie."

"Darling, how's your trip going?"

"Fine honey. Is Kaloyan there?" Ethan asked and Emilia nodded.

"Yes, he is."

"Have you spoken to him about the marriage between he and Danica? What's his reaction?"

"As expected, he doesn't want to agree to it."

"Give the phone to him." Ethan said and Emilia handed the phone over to Kaloyan who reluctantly took it.

"Dad, I'm not getting mar…."

He hardly spoke before Ethan cut him off. "Yes, you will! You will get married to Danica Jenkins and that's final."

Ethan hung up and Kaloyan cast a deadly glare at Alexander who had a sneer on his face.

"Seems you don't have a choice." Alexander shrugged. Kaloyan was already boiling in anger and he doesn't want to vent it out on this stupid brother of it, because he might regret his actions. He just ignored him and gave the phone to his Emilia before storming out of the house.

"The marriage plans would commence immediately." Emilia shouted after him but he didn't even care to look back and just focused on the way out of the house - the door.

He wasn't going to get married to Danica, that would be over his dead body.

Emilia called Danica's mother who was her friend to inform her about the good news.

"Hi Veronica. Yes, the marriage is taking place. And when is Danica coming back? Tomorrow? That's good. Yeah, I'll call you back to discuss about the wedding plans. Bye..." Emilia giggled and sunk into the sofa with a smile on her face.

"Wow! I can't believe my son would ble getting married soon. Finally, I'll have grandchildren."

Alexander sat beside her, hugging her arm. Seeing Emilia happy, he knew this was the right time to get something from her.

"In celebration to this, you should get me a new phone. Yes?"

Without hesitation, Emilia nodded. "Yes Xander. I'll place the order right away."

A big smile spread across his face. He already knew this would work.

"Thank you, mom." He giggled, placing a peck on her cheeks.

A quiet tall lady with fair skin and an elegant figure stepped down from the aeroplane, the gentle breeze swaying her hair sideways.

She handed her luggage over to her assistant who was at the airport already.

"Are you sure there are no reporters present?" Danica asked.

Hannah, her assistant nodded. "Yes, the public doesn't know about your arrival today." She answered.

Danica was pleased, she was so tired and wouldn't want those silly reporters to start to swarm over her like some mannerless bees, and bombard her with questions.

Her driver helped to put her luggage in the car and after that he drove to Jenkins's family house. Immediately, the maids came to welcome her and took her things to her room.

Danica turned to Hannah. "You can leave, I'll call when I need you."

"Yes ma'am." She bowed and left.

Danica removed her sunglasses and took a moment to admire the surroundings. It's been two years now since she left home to continue her career at Germany and now she's back in London. It felt like ages but she was happy to be back.

She made her way into the house and when the other maids saw her, they started to murmur amongst themselves.

"The peacock is back. Oh gosh, I can even see her spreading her wings with pride already." A maid said to another.

"We're done for! Why is she back?" The other lamented.

"Why can't she just stay back at Germany. God! We have to handle her rude behaviour again."

"Chill….she wouldn't be staying here for long. I heard she's getting married very soon to the heir of Thompson's family."

"Kaloyan Thompson? Man! That guy is fucking rich."

"We should better keep shut and be done with cooking soon." The serious one among them said, they rolled her eyes at her and the gossip died down.

Mrs Jenkins came rushing downstairs when she heard her precious daughter was back.

"My princess." She called in excitement, throwing her into a hug.

"Mom! I've missed you a lot!"

"Me too, baby."

"Where's dad?" Danica asked and her father came downstairs, she ran to give him a hug too. Danica was the only child in the family, making her the heartthrob of her parents.

"Dani! My cute baby! How have you been?" Victor asked after breaking the hug.

"I've been so busy dad. I barely have time for myself, besides I missed you and mom a lot."

"We missed you too, darling." Her parents both gave her a warm hug.

The Jenkins family sat round the table for dinner and victor cleared his throat to speak.

"Danica." He called and she looked up.

"Yes dad."

"I guess your mom have told you about your marriage with my friend's son, right?" Victor inquired, taking a brief look at Patricia.

"Yes she did."

"The Thompson's family has helped me alot over the years and to tighten the bond between us and appreciate their kindness, we decided to get you married to Kaloyan, their first son." He explained.

"Are you okay with that?" Patricia placed her hand on Danica's shoulder, searching her eyes for any disapproval but she smiled brightly and Patrica was relieved.

Danica wanted to ask her dad when he started to be friends with the Thompson's family but instead she hid her curiosity. Perhaps, they started their friendship when she was out of town. Even though she had broken up with Kaloyan in the past, she saw this marriage as an opportunity for them to reunite.

"Dad, mum don't worry. I'm fully in support of our marriage. Even though I've not seen him, I'm starting to love him already." Danica giggled, hiding the fact that they she and Kaloyan had dated before.

Victor and Patrica smiled at eachother, happy that their daughter agrees to the marriage. They couldn't afford to lose this golden opportunity to get closer to the Thompson's family, there was a lot of benefits attached to it.

"We're so happy to hear that." They both said simultaneously.

Travis's Work Office

"Here's Levi. She's a very skilled CIA analyst and she can help us." Travis said, gesturing towards Levi, a petite lady with spike hair and a big bag back.

Kaloyan narrowed his brows at her and she already understood what he meant. "Don't worry, you can trust me." She told him and he nodded slowly.

Ever since Sebastian betrayed him, he has problems trusting others because he feels they might turn their backs at him.

Levi brought out a laptop from her bag and switched it on. Travis had informed her about her task and she knew alot about Sebastian already.

"I'll be using an anonymous account to track down the underground organisation so it wouldn't leave any traces." She looked up at the two men and they nodded in approval.

"This isn't a day's job and we'd have to work for some days on it but first I'll make use of the SIGINT to identify our target and also filter and process signals."

She pressed some keys on her laptop and the whole place was silent for a while. Levi stopped and frowned.

"What's wrong?" Kaloyan asked.

"The signal is breaking. I think we have to get a more stronger WLAN."

"So when do we continue?" Travis asked.

"The investigations will continue tomorrow, I'll work more on strengthening the network." Levi said. "I'm so sorry for the incompetences." She pleaded.

Travis gave a look at Kaloyan who let out a deep sigh. "Don't worry, Logan. We'll bring Sebastian down."

Kaloyan let his hope dwell on his friend's assurance. He couldn't wait to fish out Sebastian and also set Natalie free from his shackles of abuse. Speaking about her, it's been a while since he saw her. He made a mental note to visit her shop after he left here.

"Thanks for your time." He shook hands with Levi who gave him a smile.

"I'll leave now." He said, patting Travis on the shoulder.

Travis stood up and followed him.

"Kaloyan, are you still getting married to Danica as your parents have said?" He asked.

Kaloyan chuckled, looking away and after some seconds, his gaze rested on Travis's curious eyes.

"You know me too well, Travis. I won't."

"So how're you going to stop the marriage?"

"I'll try to speak to my mom and convince her."

"But how?" From the look of things, Kaloyan's mom likes Danica already and Travis was unsure about her agreeing to his friend's disapproval.

"I'll speak to her first."
