Blake's POV
I led two lives, I had two identities. Kaloyan Thompson was my name but outside work, I was addressed as Blake Miles.
As Kaloyan, I am a wealthy billionaire from a very famous rich family, but Blake Miles was just a mere cleaner at a coffee shop living as a commoner.
Tired of gold-diggers and superficial relationships, I created an alternate persona just to find true love.
I was a kind a person that stayed away from the social media, I had no social media account, no pictures of me were online, all my lives I stayed away from the flashing lights of the camera and unnecessary paparazzi and not everyone knows what I looked like.
I kept low but I never stopped searching for true love, I wanted someone who would love me without any attached condition or because of my wealth.
Living as a nobody was quite difficult, ever since I started this way, I have broken up with so many girls; they always initiate the breakup. No-one wanted to date a low life and a mere cleaner at that.
Every lady wanted a rich man not a striving one. So many dates had gone wrong including the one I went for today, immediately she learnt about my job, she instantly ended the relationship.
"Blake, you're a mere cleaner, gosh I can't even show you to my friends, they'd laugh at me. Let's end this relationship I don't want a man like you." The lady had told me. I wasn't surprised to hear that, I have heard it many times.
I left the restaurant feeling so dejected and then I saw this lady under the tree in tears. I had wanted to ignore and keep walking but I couldn't. I felt the urge to console her even though she's just a stranger.
I wonder what had suddenly come upon me but it wasn't in my behaviour to overlook someone in distress; that was my weakness.
Ever since my sister Gabrielle had been kidnapped and killed, four years ago, a spark of concern had ignited in me and I get easily moved by scenes like this; a crying face and a sad countenance.
But I felt something different towards this lady, I couldn't even figure it out. I am extraordinarily bothered by her tears. So disturbed, what could possibly be wrong with her? What had caused her to cry?
I comforted her tears and slowly she looked up, my brows widened in astonishment. I was taken aback, this lady was indeed an epitome of beauty. I couldn't stop staring at her, I felt captivated.
"Thanks." She muttered and I nodded, an involuntary smile dancing on my lips. I asked if I could sit beside her and she nodded.
"You shouldn't let those tears ruin your beautiful face. You deserve better." I said, looking into her emerald eyes.
"My problems…. they're bigger than I am. I feel down..I…"
"Not everyone is fine but trust me, with time everything would fall in place."
I took her soft hands, engraving them in mine, and suddenly I sensed a spark of connection within me, touching her had an effect on me.
A stunning look appeared on her spotless face and I guessed she was starting to feel uncomfortable. I disengaged from her and gave her an apologetic look. I shouldn't be too forward.
"Sorry for the sudden touch. I apologise."
Yet, she didn't stop gazing at me and soon it turned into a frown. I tried to speak, to tell her I meant no harm but her next words left me in shock.
"Who are you?" She asked and I was about speaking when she interrupted me.
"Who are you to make me feel so better, my heart had been soothed by your kind words. Stranger…"
My jaw dropped, I was dumbstruck, I didn't even know what to say. I just kept staring into her eyes and a silent moment reigned for a while before I spoke.
"I don't want to see your tears, a smile is what suits you. Call me Blake." I had to tell her my fake name, I shouldn't reveal my real identity for now, it should be a secret.
"Natalie." She replied and gave me a black card. "Stop by at my shop for some cake."
I read the content written on the card and my eyes caught something, and that was her last name. 'Sean….', I repeated in my mind. That name sounds familiar.
"Blake, what do you say?"
I hid my curiosity and quickly put on a smile. "I will, during my spare time." I answered with a curt nod.
"I'll be expecting you and thanks for today. You really made my day." Natalie mentioned and I grinned.
"My pleasure."
••
I watched her walk away as I stared at her back with a faint smile. Her petite figure was retreating and I couldn't stop admiring her raven-black hair which cascaded down her back like waterfall of night.
She turned back and waved at me while I waved back at her. She flagged down a cab and it drove away after she got in.
I called my driver and in no time, he pulled up in front of me. I got in and ordered him to drive me home since it was evening already.
During the drive, I never stopped thinking about Natalie and her last name too, it sounds so familiar and I wanted to know every bit of detail about her.
There's only someone who could help me and that was Travis, he's a private investigator and also my friend.
I put a call through to him and his voice sounded at the other end.
"Yo bro, how was your date? Trust it went well….."
I sighed, rubbing my forehead. I know Travis too well, he's just trying to get words out of my mouth.
"I don't wanna talk about it. Let's talk about that some other time, but first I need information about this lady. Natalie Sean…."
