Robert hummed then wiggled his eyebrows.
"From what I know, you trust that beautiful clover girl" He stated.
Luka took few seconds to upload, then replied awkwardly
"Ah..you mean Natalie? Yea we share same interests I guess, only studying old ruins together, that's much about it".
Rolling his eyes forcing on arm Robert commented:
"She looks like potential friend to me, unless you aimed for more" Robert snickered.
Luka ignored him, snatching old glassy snowball antique from the junk examining it, the old man kicked his leg lightly.
"Kid, you better get them early than later"
Puzzled with Robert's words, the latter quickly cleared his thoughts..
"I mean friends can watch your back in hard times, trust me it's not a bad thing".
Luka blankly spaced out in deep thought, Robert's continues talk about youth and friendship got him a headache. He tried to be respectful but that old man sometimes waste his time saying useless things, but he's getting enough and straightened up.
"Ya, where are you going?" Robert asked.
"The class will start in a hour" he shortly replied.
"Is that brat Helton still teaching? Ha...its a joke the academy still can't get rid of him" Robert chuckled caressing his chin.
Luka sincerely agreed with him on this point, although he is very strong (A) rank nightwalker, Helton only cares about money and his class's ranking. Luka witnessed his classmates sufferings, screams and tears from unjustified mad trainings or should say.. torture. Regrettably, Luka involved as well, its a bless he can withstands pain very well, compared to those spoiled students.
'Unfortunately, yes...I'll...take..my leave now, sir' That likely what a spoiled student would claim to evade the training.
"Kiddo.."
Cut his thoughts off, Robert pated the box again signing him to sit. He put him in tight situations, as he wants to escape the blabber. Noticing Luka's expression he added:
"Sit, that brat can't do harm to you as long I'm breathing. And..I didn't tell you the reason why I called you, right? So why the haste?" He sniggered.
Critics the old man in his heart, he unwillingly sat again. Grimacing he picked up his screw drive and helped him silently.
The man didn't speak right away, the screw winding sound mixed with the classic clock's ticking on the wall echoed, until Robert said:
"Say Luka, have you ever heard of the term 'sun' before?"
The sudden question took him by surprise he didn't answered immediately, he restored then nodded. Recalling he read it in one of the old ruin's photo note.
"Everlasting burning yellow sphere, bright and source of life.." Luka stated while Robert nodded with every word.
"That said, it once lit up the whole world, that's why they call the period before the fog the golden era. Do you believe such thing actually exists?" Robert calmly stated focusing at work.
"Ha? Wasn't it because it's king Lionel's era?" Luka was confused. Robert Shaked his head in denying these claims.
"That's the problem with history books nowadays, dissimulation. Only little, and only what they want you to know, doesn't matter if it's truth or false".
Acknowledging his opinion Luka only nodded, and was more interested about this 'sun'.
"Sure you have heard of my defector son Sam? The truth he didn't run away, but more like got kicked out of the family".
Luka's hands fixed in the air lost of words due to utter shock, questioning why would one of the ancient families mistreated one of their own kin, unless..?
"Yea, because of this sun, that ass face thought it's a good idea to build an artificial sun and get rid of the fog's curse".
"What?! then..." Not even finished his sentence Robert threw the screw drive growling as he was reminded of his last moment with his son. He then leaned back sighing.
"That idiot! Of course it didn't work since it's missing something, or should if would say...a specific element, that can forges light and gather it to feed it to this artificial sun. Unfortunately, at that time the only person had this element was crown prince. Foolishly, after hearing about this fake hope, the young prince agree to help, think it would be a miracle to break the curse".
From Robert's werid expression, Luka had a hint that things gone wrong during the process.
"I warned him many times, it was a dangers gambling. But son's never listen. As a result, the thing he created, not only absorbed the crown prince's light but his flesh too, leaving nothing but burned bones,..um...my son fried the prince to death".
Open-mouthed unable to swallow all this, Luka's hand unconsciously patted the old man's back. Yet he has no idea what's he's doing.
"The artificial sun, did they get rid of it?" Luka asked.
He hummed shooked his head then pointed up to the ceiling making Luka more confused.
"We couldn't get rid of it, so we only sealed it on an island above".
"Wait? You mean...the reason why city (A) is separated from ground is that seal?! and...?" Luka gulped as his shocked face tells how big news is this.
"No you got this all wrong. It's floating because of the artificial sun exists in it. The only reason why the king built his palace there was because he wanted to be closer to his dead son. And my son, at first he was sentenced with execution, but after council's meeting, they decided to banish him out of city (B) forever. They would've want to banish him from Camo as well if that's possible".
All of this was too much for him to process as he dwells about this artificial sun and the genius who created something this horrifying able to lift an island, then just to be banish in the end. Even more important, why is he telling him all of this? Is this something he should really know? For a person like him, what can he do about it?
"Why are telling me this sir Robert?" Luka asked.
Robert tittered, observing the prosthetic arm started to move slowly.
"Because, there's someone bears an element similar to crown prince, someone showed up a month ago. As a father failed on my responsibilities, I can't but to be more concerned about my son's and the ancient families actions when they came to know about her existence".
"Who?" Luka was very curious to know.
