Fiona went through many moons of recovery, she may have been physically fine, but her mind was almost broken, only being held together by Shade the dragon. Fiona would spend days at a time in her home and the people of the town were getting worried and started to fear her. Whenever she left home the townspeople would avoid her, and it got to the point where the children would cry when they would see her. One day while Fiona was out hunting for food to feed Shade, some townspeople took the opportunity to break into her home and when Shade appeared in sight they went into a blind panic! They called for warriors to come exterminate the beast, once they arrived, they tried burning down the house but that just enraged Shade she jumped at the warriors and tore one's throat out. It was a rampage of thirty men dead, Shade's beautiful black scales glistened because of the blood, children were traumatized because of the fight and members of the town were devastated due to the loss. Fiona arrived home soon after and saw Shade almost dead on the ground, the village elder Eldrid who was a master in fire magic, had the dragon almost dead, but Fiona would not let this happen "Eldrid let her go!" she shouted, Eldrid replied with "This beast can not be allowed to live, look at all the carnage it has caused!" Eldrid unsheathed his sword and slashed at shades nape. "Thump" as a head fell to the ground, Shade's eyes closed but as she lay on the ground, she opened them and standing over her was Fiona, with Eldrid's severed head laid on the ground to the right of her. His long beard was drenched in blood and the expression of his face was confused. Fiona had travelled thirty meters in a tenth of a second, impossibly fast, to the point where the veteran mage had no time to react to the blade heading towards his neck. The townspeople that had watched the battle unfold were terrified, a child in the crowd started a chant "Witch, WITCH, WITCH!" Fiona realized it was not safe to keep shade around people anymore so they fled the town and went searching for a home that could shelter them both. After many days of travel, they stumbled on a majestic waterfall and lake. Fiona decided this would be the spot to settle down for now, she spent many moons building a home that could sustain both her and Shade. Fiona did not realize this would be the place she would live and train Shade for the rest of her life.
