My emotions always had a way of overpowering me, no matter how hard I tried to fight them. Every time I gave in, I found myself in an abyss of thoughts, almost hoping the darkness would linger so I wouldn't have to confront reality again.
I ignored the voice calling my name, drifting in that empty void until, reluctantly, my eyes flickered open. The harsh light pierced my vision as I took in my surroundings. With a groan, I shifted on what felt like a bed, yawning to shake off the lingering fatigue. In the distance, birds chirped and waves crashed. Maybe this was all just a dream.
"Good morning," a deep voice greeted. I raised my head slightly, squinting at the tall figure approaching.
"Morning?" I mumbled, still half-asleep.
