Chapter 4 - Frypan Mountain

Time passed quickly, making two hours seem like just a brief moment. Akira finally got up from the ground and gave a smile.

During this time he had trained his Ki control, only taking tiny breaks every ten minutes to absorb the energy of another bison. Rather than these breaks having any negative effect, they were actually a great help, giving him a better understanding of Ki.

When he finally finished absorbing the energy from the last bison, he had increased his power greatly, and even though he was still far from controlling his Ki perfectly, he had already achieved more than he had expected.

With his mind focused, Akira's eyes became statistical. Around his feet, the short grassland began to shake from side to side, as if a huge current of wind was passing by.

His body began to slowly rise, it seemed like he was standing on tiptoe, but soon his feet left the ground, revealing that there was no longer any contact between him and the ground.

Floating just a few inches off the ground, Akira wasn't afraid of falling, but was struggling to stay aloft as his body trembled as if he was balancing on a tightrope.

A few drops of sweat appeared on his forehead, it was evident from his expression how difficult it was to maintain that.

He quickly returned to the ground "Even though I've gotten a lot stronger, without good Ki control, I won't be able to fly without getting exhausted in a few minutes..."

A faint smile appeared on his lips "Even so, it shouldn't be long before I can fly freely, I just need a little more training!"

With that, he took one last look at the bison bodies, then started running again. Flying a few inches off the ground was simple and safe for him currently, but it would be risky and exhausting to try to pass through that mountain on his way, so he decided to go around that mountain.

...

The sun that was rising when he left the village was now setting, giving the sky an orange light.

In a mountainous region full of forests like this place, a high number of animals could be seen along the way and Akira saw them as gifts from the heavens, which served to replenish his energy and increase his power.

When he left the village, he was running like an Olympic record holder, but his speed had almost doubled after all the power he had gained on his way.

Akira stopped under a tree and took the map in his hands. 'My speed has been increasing along the way, so it will be easier to make it on time...' His eyes on the map roughly identified his location. 'I must have made it 1/5 of the way so far... If I could fly at the same speed as I run, then I would have made it twice as far...'

He let out a sigh as he put the map away. 'I doubt I can improve my Ki control that much in a few days, even if I'm talented... Besides, if I fly the entire way, I won't be able to get stronger or recover my energy'

After training for two hours, he could float and perhaps even fly well with a day of training, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to master it quickly. Even if he spent a few days training, it would still be very difficult to fly at high speeds, and without good Ki control, his small reserve of energy would be drained in minutes.

Even with all this, he was far from feeling disappointed, he knew he was one step ahead of everyone else, having already started learning to fly, while Goku himself would only discover this technique years in the future.

Having to go around obstacles could cost him time, but with his speed increasing, he was certain that he would reach his destination in time, so there were no real problems.

Night would soon fall, making it much harder to find his way around, especially with only a simple paper map, so he decided to run just a little bit longer, before finally stopping his journey.

...

The night in the middle of the forest was not safe for ordinary humans, there were many wild animals, even dinosaurs could be found in some areas of planet Earth. But for Akira, no animal on this planet posed a risk to him, so he felt safe, even isolated in that darkness.

He was sitting on the floor, with his legs crossed, while his hands were resting on his thighs, with his palms parallel to each other and between them a faint glow appeared.

It looked like a small sphere of light, which was slowly becoming denser and gaining a purple color. Akira had his eyes closed, his concentration was fully focused on concentrating his Ki into that sphere.

Its size went from that of a fingernail, until it reached the size of a palm. The energy was gradually increasing, while signs of fatigue appeared on Akira's expression.

The cold night breeze blew past his face, while the sound of leaves rustling rang in his ear, but none of it could be noticed given how focused he was.

After some time Akira opened his eyes and looked at the energy between his hands "Purple, just like the mist that bodies release... I wonder if there's any difference?" He wondered.

He didn't know if there was any difference, but he didn't have any information about it in his memories of the anime, so he could only keep those doubts for the future.

As he thought this, the purple sphere began to tremble, clearly unstable. At this moment, Akira's right hand quickly moved to the side and the purple energy followed suit.

The Ki sphere was thrown towards some trees and as soon as it touched its target a small explosion occurred. An explosive sound and wood breaking sounded together, while tree bark flew everywhere.

Although a slight smile appeared on Akira's lips, his gaze was calm, not surprised by the magnitude of that attack.

"It only destroyed a few trees, I could have done that with my punches anyway... If I had better Ki control, I could have destroyed twice as many trees easily" A soft sigh left his mouth.

The other warriors, be it Goku, Krillin or any other Earthling, they used to train hard to increase their strength, even if their focus was on increasing their strength, their training ended up improving their Ki control, but Akira was different.

The power that would take others months to build, Akira achieved in just two days, which made his Ki control fall behind. If it weren't for him already knowing the importance of it, he would end up having a lot of strength, but not using it correctly.

Simply put, Akira was growing strong at an incredible speed, and thanks to his talent and training, his Ki control despite being weak, it existed. If he were to encounter someone as strong as him, perhaps he would lose, due to this problem.

"Everyone starts by training their body, then they start refining their control, but thanks to my ability, I can skip the first part by absorbing energy from bodies" He said, with a satisfied smile.

...

In the morning, Akira ran at full speed, trying to keep the shortest path to Mount Frypan. On his way, it was common to encounter wild animals, although not all of them attacked him, Akira did not let the opportunity to become stronger pass him by.

Unlike his first two days where he punched animals, now he only used Ki attacks. His decision to do so was to improve his Ki control.

Although his Ki attacks were weaker than his punches currently, they were still enough to defeat any animal he encountered.

If the day before he had covered 1/5 of the distance, today he had covered twice as much and was more than halfway to Mount Frypan.

That night he spent a few hours practicing his flying technique, which now allowed him to fly with a certain amount of freedom. He even rose a few dozen meters into the air and gazed at the starry sky.

It was a beautiful sight, one that made Akira smile 'Someday I'll travel to other planets and I'll be able to see these stars up close!'

It still took a lot of energy for him to fly and his speed was quite slow, but he had gained good stability. Now he could stop going around the larger obstacles.

The next day, Akira was determined to make it the rest of the way, so he started running early. Some animal bodies were left along the path he passed.

Akira never bothered to count, but he had already absorbed the energy of more than 50 bodies, most of which he had killed himself. After that first jaguar, he never questioned killing again.

He did not kill out of cruelty, he did not take pleasure in killing, but he also did not feel any remorse. Just as animals hunt for food, he was hunting to increase his strength.

Hours passed as Akira ran at his top speed. The afternoon had arrived, when he found himself in a plain region. Unlike the forests, where Akira had to dodge trees, slowing down his speed in the process, here he had a clear path to run.

Although this didn't bother Akira, he could feel the temperature rising, going from mild to intense heat. He already knew the reason for this, after all, even though there were still a few kilometers left, the enormous burning mountain could already be seen.

'If the mountain is on fire, then that's a sign that I arrived in time!' A smile appeared on his face, as his speed increased even more.

At this moment, Akira was like a child arriving at the amusement park, his eyes shining looking at the flickering flames.
