Silver, Emily and Mara stared at him as the impact of his words hit them. Dago cleared his throat. "It's about time for a new overhaul of the security systems here. Okay. So can I have a list of James' current enemies." He said.
They both flinched and came out of their brief moment of loss of words. They shook their heads though. Dago frowned at them. "You're trying to tell me that in the last however long gone-" He said pausing to see Mara about to say something.
"You've been gone for seventeen years Dago. It's been that long for you, correct?" She said adding on that last bit.
Dago grinned at her mind seeing that she was already working. He smiled and she stared at him and then waved for him to continue talking. "Sorry for interrupting you. Ah. To our knowledge James hasn't have any real enemies like the last dark lord he defeated." She said.
Dago tapped his chin with his device. "I very much doubt that. Not that I'm saying your lying Mara. Okay let's try this. Has there been any people that are in a friendly competition or anyone that has been highly critical of his Majesty." He said.
Silver frowned opening his mouth and then closed it. Dago waved for him to speak. "Go ahead." He said.
"When I was at Hogwarts for my last years I got impressions from a few spell engineers and wizards that were critical of my father's honesty of revealing all his secrets about the mist magic and lack of little written details about creation magic. You seem to have yourself written little about yourself on the subject." He said.
Dago nodded. "Creation magic is a hands on learned kind of thing. It takes time and patience much in the same way of Apparition. Mist magic however is a talent based skill very few have it. How is your progress in the field of mist magic?" He asked him.
Silver shrugged. "I've learned enough of it that my father I believe was able to use it to get into contact with me. I believe it was a bridging spell he used in combination between our minds." He said.
A slow smiled formed on Dago's lips. "Brilliant asshole." He said.
"What?!" Silver said.
Dago shook his head. "Tell me their names. We shall add them to the list of suspects." He said waiting.
Silver pointed to the device in Dago's hand. "Does your wand record our conversations and is able to print them on to the board." He asked.
Dago shook his head. "No. It listens to the conversation and then can repeat back the information and bring to light the most important bits of information to put on the board." He said.
"That's pretty base. The names are Harold Hickerson. Darren Hikes. Jazmin Wake and Drake Wicker." Silver said.
Dago nodded and tapped his whiteboard with his wand and the names were printed on the board. Drake Wicker and Darren Hikes were highlighted. Dago looked at the names. He looked at Emily. "Have you heard any whispers or names of anyone jealous of your father's accomplishments beyond the usual normal blokes." He asked.
Emily sighed. "Mr. Malfoy there are more whispers from many in the magical world about my father. Many are jealous of him and wish him ill. In the months sense his disappearance I have heard many happy for it or think he is hiding away to create weapons to take over the world finally now that my grandfather is testing to become the next supreme wizard of America." She said.
Dago's eyes shifted as he turned slowly back to the board. "When did Angus begin the testing for Supreme wizard?" He asked.
There was a long pause. Dago nodded. "Eighteen months ago was it?" He asked.
"Yes. Of course." Mara said. "It was eighteen months ago to the date. We went to London to go shopping get him a present and get prepared for the event. James was planning on hosting a party at the ranch." She said.
Dago wrote it down on his whiteboard. "Who are the contenders for the title this time?" He asked.
"Excuse me, Mr. Malfoy but that is common knowledge. Why don't you know that?" Emily said.
"It doesn't matter why he doesn't know that. Mr. Malfoy is a busy man." Silver said quickly. "The names of the competitors are Betty West. Yo Yo Kennedy. Amanda Kent and Timothy Ritter." He said.
Dago smiled. "Three female competitors and one male besides your grandfather of course. Interesting. Very interesting. We'll have to expand the list to your grandfather's current enemies as well. Damn this is going to take some time. No matter we'll figure it out. Alright. We can go work the security system overhaul update. We'll have to gut to out the entire system but not before we see if we can dig deeper into the spell engineered for the current systems to see if we can find any real footage of what happened that day." He said.
"I'll handle that part." Mara said. "I'll gut out the system and rip into it to get the information we need. I want you and the kids to work on making a list of who are Angus' enemies and the likelihood that one of the competitors he is up against has a hand in what happened to my husband." Mara said before she disappeared from the library.
Dago chuckled turning to Emily and Silver. "Well. That leaves it down to the four of us." He said.
"Four?" Silver asked and looked to the work station to see Bellatrix at the station working the whole time a frown on her face. She waved at them before looking back down at her workstation. He frowned at her and then he looked back at Dago. "Sir?" He asked.
Dago shook his head. "Please. Call me Dago. What's on your mind?" He said.
"Yes. Ah. When this mystery is resolved what do you wish us to do if anything afterward?" Silver asked carefully.
Dago smiled. "You are an intelligent young man. Well. I may or not see your father again during this time but afterward please make sure to ask your father to visit me at the main library using the back door as soon as he is up to the task. Tell him to bring along my sword with him. I think I left it around here somewhere. I can't remember where. He should know though." He said.
Silver stared at him and nodded his head. "I will make sure the message is conveyed to him immediately when he is returned to the ranch safe and sound. Thank you again for coming to us." He said.
Dago shook his head. "Think nothing of it Silver. James is my best friend. That's what best friends are for. Always there when you need them. Now let's get to researching." He said.
