With the help of several professors, Adam's life began to become regular and healthy.
Because there is only one professor for each course, the coursework at Hogwarts is quite manageable: all eight courses have one large class per week, which consists of two sessions.
Even though Adam has after-school tutoring for six subjects (except flying class and history of magic), he still feels more relaxed than he did in college in his previous life.
From his roommates' perspective, Adam seems to have almost twice the study pressure as them. He often goes to the library or other places to do his own thing, yet still finds enough time to play wizard chess with them, watch Quidditch training, and even study recipes!
"Adam, are you sure you're okay?"
Stein looked at Adam, who had just put down a book, and hesitated.
"If you're feeling tired, you don't have to go."
"Of course not. I was just reading a book for fun."
Stein glanced at the cover of the book:
"Advanced Potion-Making"
Well, it didn't look like a book for fun at all… But why did the book look so worn out? Stein remembered that Adam took great care of his books.
Adam put Mark and Sibi into his pockets, picked up his shoulder bag, and walked to the door of the dormitory. He turned to look at Stein, who was still standing still.
"Let's go! Didn't we make plans with them? Don't leave them waiting."
When Adam and his friends arrived, most of the group was already there.
"Has it started?"
Adam sat on the bench and looked at Robert beside him.
The current Hufflepuff Quidditch team is still composed of upperclassmen, and Robert isn't a seeker yet.
"Not yet, but soon," Robert replied while glancing at Adam's shoulder bag. As Adam's classmates saw him arrive, they gathered around.
Adam got the hint and pulled out a stack of plastic boxes from his bag.
"Don't worry, let me see—raspberry nut cookies, chocolate cookies, caramel cookies, and salted rose cookies."
The stack of boxes was quickly emptied, replaced by a handful of silver Sickles in Adam's bag.
"Anyone want a drink? As usual, bring your own cup."
Soon enough, a line of cups stood in front of Adam.
"Adam, what are you making next time?"
"Hmm… popcorn. I haven't made that in a while."
After filling the cups with Coke, Adam thought for a moment before replying.
"Great! I love the rice-flavored popcorn. Can you make more of that?"
"I love caramel popcorn!"
"No problem!"
Adam couldn't quite explain how his snack shop came to be. At first, he just thought it would be nice to have snacks while watching Quidditch, so he brought some for his roommates. Then, for some other classmates he knew, and then…
Well, the Hogwarts ovens are huge, and since Adam could only use one, he might as well make extra. It was just a flick of the wand, and the ingredients came from the Hogwarts kitchen. Adam never planned on charging anyone.
But this was Hufflepuff, and as long as the students survived the next seven years, they'd become important figures in the wizarding world. Getting them hooked on Adam's food might help when he opened a business in the wizarding world.
Then one day, after a student paid Adam two silver Sickles for snacks out of politeness, everyone started paying.
That's how Adam's casual snacks during Quidditch practice evolved into fixed business hours and planned menus. He even started selling drinks like Coke.
Now, Adam's snack business extended to all of Hufflepuff, and there was even talk of it spreading to other houses.
—On how much impact the words, "What are you eating? Can I have some?" can have.
When Quidditch training began, the badgers sat in neat rows, each holding a drink and a cookie, ready to enjoy the show.
"By the way, Halloween is next week," Stein said through a mouthful of cookies, still speaking surprisingly clearly.
"Really? I haven't been keeping track of the dates."
Adam was breaking the cookies into smaller pieces to feed Mark and Sibi when he heard this and paused.
"Halloween already… Wow, the year is almost over."
"Didn't you notice it's been getting colder lately?"
"I hadn't paid much attention. Though it has been raining more, and the wind is stronger."
Suddenly, cheers erupted around them. Adam and Stein turned their attention to the field, just in time to see the goalkeeper block the Quaffle with an impressive double "8" loop.
With the rising excitement around them, Adam and Stein focused on the Quidditch practice, setting their conversation aside.
It turned out Adam really didn't keep track of dates. One morning, he woke up to the strong smell of pumpkins and realized Halloween had arrived.
"Should I make some candy?"
Adam sat on the small sofa, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
"Yes, yes, candy will be a hit today!" Stein, who had just woken up, suddenly perked up.
"I think you just want to eat it yourself," Robert said with a sigh.
"Where are you off to?" Uther, applying eyeliner in the mirror, asked Robert, who was heading out.
"Uh… I'm going to the library," Robert replied, leaving the dormitory.
Watching the door close, Uther blinked.
"Something feels off. Hasn't Robert been going to the library a lot lately?"
"Has he?"
"Yeah, I've noticed."
"But isn't going to the library normal? Adam and Mark go there all the time, too," said Eugene, chewing on one of Adam's dried fish snacks.
"True," Uther said, dropping the thought and returning to his eyeliner.
To celebrate Halloween, Adam made a huge batch of candies. This time, he couldn't use traditional kitchen tools, so he resorted to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration.
"By the way, you can use Gamp's Law to make cookies and sweets directly. Why do you insist on baking everything yourself?" Mark asked, batting at a transparent candy shaped like a pumpkin.
"Because each batch of cookies has a slightly different flavor and texture. Gamp's magic can't replicate that. I really enjoy the process of crafting something delicious," Adam explained, sprinkling a fine layer of crystal powder over the candies, making them real.
He paused, thinking for a moment. "Of course, most of the work can be done with magic, and it's not exhausting. Maybe that's part of it—I'm just lazy with candies this time. Do you prefer doing everything step by step, even with Gamp's help?"
"Uh…" Mark hesitated, but Sibi interrupted.
"As long as it's made by Adam, I'll love it~"
You?! Mark stiffened and turned to see Sibi peeking out of a pumpkin candy dish, smiling sideways.
Mark tossed the candy aside with a small "hmph" and dove into the pumpkin dish. When the lid closed, only two tails peeked out of the eyeholes, twitching furiously.
Sighing, Adam glanced at the scene. Well, if they break the pumpkin dish, I'll just repair it. Let them have their fun.
