Day by day, apart from your Gan cards and my bubble cards, do you take the Culuo cards we manage seriously?
Sibi's scolding was accompanied by the crackling sound of a slap, followed by a painful cry of "ouch, ouch." It sounded like Sibi had delivered a meow punch to Mark.
I really wanted to see it…
But the key wasn't that, it was what Sibi had just said.
"Double card?"
An image came to Adam's mind: a pair of twin children wearing clown-like costumes.
The Clow cards' imagery can be roughly divided into four types: character images, characters holding elements representing their abilities, animal images with power traits, and objects embodying card abilities.
Among them, Clow cards with character designs typically feature a single person, and the double card is the only one with two figures on it.
The effect of the double card is quite special—it can make two identical copies of an object or person. If the magic isn't undone within a day, the duplicates continue to exist.
But… can the double card really copy the Philosopher's Stone? Even if it could, my magic power wouldn't be enough to create one, right?
"But with my magic, it's impossible to copy a Philosopher's Stone, isn't it?" Adam asked truthfully.
"The magic of the double card isn't 'copying,'" Sibi's voice said after the sound of the Meow Meow Fist had stopped.
"Adam, do you know about parallel time and space?"
Adam: "???"
"If the course of a world is like a line moving forward, then any 'possibility' of change causes this line to split into various directions, forming parallel worlds."
"Even something as minor as the trajectory of a dust particle blown by the wind can create countless parallel spaces. But these parallel worlds don't always diverge enough to remain separate for long; most converge back into a single line after a time."
"Sometimes, people have different memories of the same event—this is due to the overlap of memories from these converging parallel worlds."
"The double card's magic doesn't simply 'copy' something into two. It brings the version of that thing from a parallel world back here, from a timeline that would otherwise merge with this one. The magic can't be undone."
"The Philosopher's Stone is a powerful collection of magic energy, but it lacks the uniqueness of time and space. You can bring a version of the stone from parallel time and space with the double card," Sibi explained.
Adam: "..."
Not only was this an interesting magical explanation for the Mandela Effect, but Sibi's description of the double card's ability shattered Adam's understanding of it, and of the Clow cards in general.
All this time, Adam had thought of it as mere duplication, but now he realized it was actually something far more complex.
Come to think of it, the Clow cards always had advanced settings, but Adam's preconceived notions hindered his understanding.
The creation of Clow cards combined many elements: the forces of nature, playing cards, tarot, alchemy's four elements, the twelve constellations, and the Bagua and Five Elements from Eastern philosophy. The Clow card's design stood as a fusion of Eastern and Western mysticism.
Its creator, Rido, was a great magician capable of traveling between parallel worlds. With the power to halt time and space, he lived for centuries. However, Rido never used the Clow Cards in combat,
These factors had led Adam to undervalue the Clow cards, even after signing a contract with the Sealed Book. He thought, "It's always good to have more power," but never fully considered just how powerful the Clow cards could be.
"Don't limit your knowledge and imagination, Adam," Sibi's voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Magic is a reflection of the heart, will, and soul. It is your intent that gives magic its potential. While magic itself defines strength, it is your mind that makes magic versatile and all-powerful."
"Instead of just understanding the Clow cards' basic principles, you can modify their properties to suit your ideas once you grasp their full potential."
"Thank you, Sibi. I understand," Adam replied, feeling a sudden clarity.
He had been too narrow-minded. He had never delved deep enough into the Clow cards. Now it was clear—the potential for these cards went far beyond what he had previously thought.
If the double card could work in this secondary method, what else was possible with the other cards?
While Adam could study the Clow cards' potential later, his immediate focus was something else.
"The key that hides the dark power…"
Summoning the Staff of Darkness, Adam paused and looked at the Sealed Book.
"Sibi, can this spell be changed?"
Although darkness itself wasn't inherently evil, others might easily misunderstand its use.
"No, this is part of the contract. However, while you can't change the spell itself, you can bypass the incantation if your magic is strong enough."
This time, Mark chimed in.
"Ah, that's a relief."
The Sealed Book floated open, turning to the page of the double card.
"The seal is lifted!"
The rays symbolizing sunshine touched the double card, and the twin elves wearing clown costumes broke free from the card, landing on the ground.
"Yo~"
The twin elves were nearly identical except for their pink and blue hair. When they bowed to Adam, one used the left hand and the other the right, like a mirror reflection.
"Can't they talk?"
It was Adam's first time summoning the Clow Card elves, and he looked curiously at the nearly person-sized twin elves.
"Only a few Clow Cards can speak," Mark explained. "Kuro was a quiet person."
"I see. Well, please duplicate this Philosopher's Stone."
Adam handed the magic stone to the double card.
"Yo~"
The double card approached the stone, a white light flashing. A moment later, two identical stones lay in Adam's hand.
"Hiss—"
Though Sibi had already said it was possible, actually seeing the double card create a second stone still made Adam gasp.
"Can you make more?"
The double card nodded.
"Hiss—"
Golden light flashed in Adam's eyes.
"Adam, making too many Philosopher's Stones isn't a good idea. Two stones won't differ much from one, and if someone finds out, it could cause problems. Plus, you can't use Clow cards too many times in a single day," Sibi warned.
"Huh? Well, I already have one Philosopher's Stone," Adam said, placing one stone in Nicolas Flamel's bag and holding the other.
"Can't I use the stone's power to use Clow Cards?"
"Unfortunately, no," Mark added, pouring cold water on Adam's excitement. "The Sealed Book's contract prevents anyone or any magic from using Clow Cards except you. However, if you learn the magic of the double card and cast it yourself, then you could use the Philosopher's Stone's power."
"Ah, so copying the Philosopher's Stone still has its uses—like turning lead into gold or making an elixir of immortality."
Adam sighed, considering the possibilities.
