Chapter 10 - System Unlocked [1]

The monster then squeezed Samantha's neck tightly, crushing it completely, and letting her body fall to the ground.

Finally, she ended up becoming a victim of the monster's mercy. Her body was torn apart, and she fell to the ground dead, with blood dripping from her.

The screams of death she let out in her final moments filled the place, and the shadow kaiju left the place covered in blood and tears.

The scene in the room reflected the horror and destruction left behind by the human-like monster. Noah Nightshade, who was watching from afar, was unable to move his body from the pain. He watched the monster continue its attack, blood dripping from his body, and a feeling of regret and sorrow weighed on his heart.

Roar-!!

Only after the Shadow Kaiju was certain that the powerful Ascendants who could pose a threat to him were gone, did it turn its attention to the next person in the room, who was holding the artifact. He quickly approached him and grabbed his neck.

In the other corner of the room, Mr. Joe was leaning against a stone pillar, his body trembling and crying silently.

He watched as the monster killed all of his party members, and now headed towards the porter. His long sword fell from his hand, and he lost his will to fight.

"I have to get out of here... This monster is not something I can face." He said to himself and began to slowly move towards the huge closed metal door.

He ran towards the door, trying to open it before the monster returned to the middle of the room. He pulled the handle with all his remaining strength and heard the metallic creaking sound as it opened forcefully.

Suddenly, the monster heard the sound of the metal door opening, and quickly turned around and it saw Mr. Joe opening the door and trying to escape.

The monster stopped and raised his hand towards the porter who was stuck in the stone pillar with a long sword.

The long sword shook and came out of the porter's body, then flew towards the monster's hand. The monster grabbed the sword and looked at Mr. Joe who was trying to escape. He threw the sword forcefully towards him.

Shoooo-!

The sound of the sword was loud, and it flew towards Mr. Joe trembling with fear. He tried to run as fast as he could, but the sound got closer, and his body trembled with terror.

Mr. Joe fell to the ground before the sword reached him, and the sword came out of the open door.

The shadow kaiju did not care much for the cowardly last ascendant as his focus was on the nearby ball stuck to Noah Nightshade.

When Mr. Joe realized this fact well, he quickly ran away.

The monster looked at Mr.Joe who had survived, then his gaze shifted to the porter who had fallen from the stone pillar, blood pouring out of him.

The monster started to head towards the porter, while Noah was being stabbed in the stomach, blood gushing out of him.

Despite the intense pain, Noah tried to move and put his hand on his wound to stop the bleeding.

"I-I'm gonna die!"

He looked at the approaching monster and began to cry silently, his tears falling as he thought about his parents who had been unjustly executed, and his older brother who had fallen victim to the awakening and what would happen to him after his death.

[Alert!]

Suddenly, he heard a beautiful female voice echoing in his head, as he tried to understand where it came from.

"Alert!" The voice was alerting him.

[Suitable Host Found]

[*** Confirmed]

[Hidden Conditions Have Been Fulfilled]

[Artifact Unlocked: The Ancient Legacy]

[Do You Accept the Legacy to be Fused into Your Body?]

[Yes/No]

The monster was surprised when runic lines appeared on the artifact, glowing intensely. The artifact released an energy wave that pushed the monster away.

Noah raised his head and saw the energy ball glowing above him, and felt a new power flowing through his body.

'Could the voice have come from this ball?' Noah wondered, as the ball slowly diminished. The female voice echoed again

[Do you accept the inheritance merged into your body?]

[Yes/No]

His wounds had begun to heal, but the pain still lingered. Remember, artifacts can heal wounds.

"Yes!"

He replied in a low voice, deciding to accept the offer.

[Confirmed!]

[Artifact merging in progress..]

Dark blue threads entered his body, and he felt a sharp pain.

As Noah's vision blurred, the excruciating pain subsided for a fleeting moment. His body, still weak and drenched in blood, was overtaken by a strange warmth emanating from the dark blue threads that coursed through his veins.

Each pulse of energy brought a new sensation, a sharp contrast between unbearable agony and the strange comfort of newfound strength.

The room shook violently, the aftermath of the energy wave radiating through the crumbling walls.

Dust and debris fell around him, but Noah was numb to it all. His mind raced, trying to comprehend what was happening to his body, as the threads continued to merge with him.

[Artifact merging 50% complete.]

The female voice spoke again, calm and collected despite the chaos around him. Noah groaned, clutching his chest as another wave of energy rippled through his limbs. His muscles burned like they were being torn apart and rebuilt in real time.

His wounds, which moments before had seemed fatal, were closing rapidly, tissue knitting itself back together at an unnatural speed.

The monster, now barely visible through the thick dust cloud, struggled to rise. Its massive form had been reduced to a shadow of its former menace, trembling as if the sheer force of the artifact had drained it of its strength.

Noah, still on his knees, glanced at the creature with a newfound sense of resolve. For the first time since the fight had started, he didn't feel powerless.

"Is this... real?" he whispered, his voice hoarse and weak, but underneath it, there was the faintest trace of hope.

[Artifact merging 75% complete. System synchronization in progress.]

A cold shiver ran down his spine as the voice mentioned synchronization. He felt his heartbeat quicken, and with it, a strange sensation as though his thoughts were being filtered, his very consciousness connecting with something far beyond his understanding.

He saw fleeting images flash before his eyes—of ancient battles, warriors wielding immense power, and creatures far more terrifying than the one he was facing now.

Suddenly, another surge of pain hit him, stronger than before. His body convulsed as if it were on fire, but the more he endured, the more he felt a force rising within him. This wasn't just pain—it was transformation. It was a rebirth.

[Artifact merging 95% complete. Access to Ancient Legacy: Unlocked.]

Noah gasped as the final wave of energy surged through him, causing his back to arch and his fingers to dig into the cracked ground beneath him. He could feel the legacy of the artifact imprinting itself into his very soul, its ancient wisdom, strength, and power now flowing freely into him.

The voice spoke once more, her tone soft yet commanding.

[Welcome, Host. You are now the bearer of the Ancient Legacy.]
