This was the first phenomenon that shook the entirety of the Byron city. One second ago, it was a normal sunny day but in the next second, even without warning, a dark cloud out of nowhere embraced the sky.
Not even the sun rays could pass through the dark clouds. Then, a wind that slapped whatever it came across blew over the city. Its direction was only one and that was towards the Byron Mansion.
Those of the Byron Mansion were the most shaken here. They had never seen a wind that blew into a house. The gates opened on their own and what appeared like a dark smoke started encroaching into he compound.
One could here the screams as the scared women screamed their throats dry and sour. One could hear their voices becoming hoarse as the black smoke covered the compound. It encroached the entrance to the mansion and the whole of the Byron Mansion was covered in darkness.
The screams one could hear seconds ago were lost into the darkness. Then, to make matters worse, there was a blackout. Some fainted while others peed themselves. They could already feel the tendrils of darkness crawling underneath their clothes and skins.
They swallowed hard and some even forgot to breath. The darkness finally reached the meeting room and it was just then that the Patriarch was just about to kill the baby. Even the light on his index finger disappeared.
Every eye turned towards the entrance and none of them could see through the encroaching darkness. The Patriarch finally shot his eyes open as he stared into the darkness. His eyes had a blue glow that appeared to penetrate through anything but when the darkness filled the room, It was like the only light was coming from his eyes.
The room was dark and the winds were still whooshing inside the room. At this moment, the baby started crying. His voice seemed to blend into the darkness. All eyes turned towards the direction the voice was coming from.
But to their surprise, it was coming from everywhere. Even the Patriarch was confused where the baby was crying from. Had he not been holding him in his hands, he would have been confused just like the rest.
The Patriarch tried to cast a spell but it did not work. He could not even access his energy. Then, the darkness started creeping into their skins and it felt like they were all caught in a trance.
What came next was thunder. The thunder was so profound that it even beat inside their heads and shook them. Then without warning came a voice. The voice seemed to come from the depths of hell.
It was also impossible to tell where it was coming from. But even if the voice was not loud and just a whisper, it was not impacted and everyone heard its words clearly. The voice was male and as it spoke, no one could stop their racing hearts. Just who had they provoked.
"Humans!" The first word made all of them weak in their knees. Just the presence of this voice made them weak to the core. Also that introduction... It was a demon. "If you want me to break from my prison now, just lay a finger to that child.
"Did you foolish humans think that I was weak? I have just been waiting for my time to make my come back. After fifteen years, I am going to let my kind free and take what is supposed to be mine. As for the child, if any harm befalls him, then you do not know who you are messing with. Even we are scared of this person and it was he who forced me to relay this message. But after 15 years, prepare for the apocalypse!"
The voice quietened. They all knew who the speaker of the words was. It was none but the demon king. His words were clear but they also knew that the demon king was not yet able to leave the prison.
But, he could project his voice from the sealed dimension and cause such chaos. The fact that someone forced him to make an appearance was like a joke. Was the demon king not the most powerful creature in existence? just who could make him run here and like an errand boy?
They were yet to fully register what was happening when the entire mansion cleared and so did the city. Those who had forgotten to breath finally took in deep breaths as they stood up. No person had managed to remain standing in the darkness.
Some were still fainted and those who had unconsciously peed themselves blushed as they were now realizing their actions. The back up generator turned on and off immediately. In the meeting room, they were still in trance. The Patriarch was the first to move.
He went and took a seat. The baby had now quietened and was now sucking his thumb looking at the Patriarch. Everyone took their respective seats and silence that weighed tons hanging the air. No one ready to take the onus to speak first.
The patriarch waited for a whole minute letting them all digest. He had already digested the information but the unknown identity of the baby in his hands shook him. He was trying to think. Who was it that had the ability to make the demon king an errand boy?
That was not the correct way to think. Wasn't the demon king the most powerful creature? The who was powerful than him? It was not human and that was sure for everyone. Had it not taken 20 humans in the peak of the cultivation realm to seal him?
There had to be a different species from the demons more powerful than the demons. The fact that they did not know which species it was shook them. The patriarch stared at baby and did not find any difference from normal humans.
There was no more thinking. It was obvious that they were tasked with bringing up the baby. Just as the patriarch was about to speak, a different voice came. This voice was feminine but it was older.
Its source was unknown and it came as a whisper. It was not heard by anyone else.
"His name is Athan. And no one is supposed to give him a surname." the voice said. The voice caused his hair to rise. But apart from those words, no other word came from her.
The patriarch sighed. it seemed that it was him who was trying to bite more than he could chew. The Voices only wanted the baby to live. They did not specify how. But he knew that mistreating the baby was the same as asking for death.

'Time passes. Why did I have to be born in this family. They never let me know anything about themselves. They keep me locked up and the only time I have the freedom of movement is when I am going to class.
"I am always followed by guards. Even their children are not followed by so many guards everyday. Being monitored even in the class and trackers fitted even inside my teeth. I have no purpose in this life. I would rather just get freed from this world.
"It is very laughable that I am an orphan. Yet they guard me as though I am worth their properties. Yesterday was my 15 birthday but guess what, no one remembers it. It is like I don't exist. Wouldn't it be better if I just seize to exist?"
If one was wondering who was speaking these words, it was non other than one of the young masters of the Byron Family. He was currently on top of a building. It was the tallest building of the city.
He was standing at the edge of the rooftop. He had one foot raised. He took the first step forward and only the left leg was left standing. At the foot of the building, there were hundreds looking up and had their phone cameras open.
This was going to be most trending news of the week. At the rooftop. One could see the 5'9 boy standing there. This was Athan. A fifteen year old. Red hair and eyes. Chiseled jawline and among the dreams of the many ladies but his status diminished his position.
As for today, he had escaped the guards. He had gotten tired of this life. Today was the day he was going to get freed from this world.
'If children should bear the weight of killing their parents during birth, then let me pay for the debt today.' These were his last thoughts as he pushed himself forward.
There were not many screams coming from the crowd. Instead, they were excited. Having many views in the social media was their number one priority. They all watched as the boy drifted downwards.
He had his arms opened as if he was embracing death. He even had a relieved smile as he was now going to be free. One could already tell that he was not that cared for in his family if they just let him jump from their own building.
Athan had flashbacks of his life about how they mistreated him but yet at the same time they gave him everything. That was very hypocritical of them. If he could finally leave this hellish world, then he did not mind doing anything possible. Committing suicide was going to be how he left this world...
