Chapter 3 - chapter 3: The Power of Choice

Rain sat quietly, contemplating his next move. 'From now on, my name is Rain. I'll forget my past and start a new life here. After defeating the Demon Overlord, I'll stay in this wonderful world and never return to my shitty life, even if I could rewind time by ten years.'

He summoned his status window and began experimenting with the causality points system. After some tests, Rain realized that every 1 Point of causality increased his stats by 10%. While this was powerful, it also had its limits.

'I can't just push my stats to 100, huh?' Rain mused, watching how his stat increase cap functioned.

His thoughts raced as he considered how valuable even a small boost could be in the long term. 'I think it's fair. Let's say after a year, my base stat is 50—a 10% increase is still huge for just one causality point.'

Determined to make the most of his abilities, Rain summoned a virtual keyboard with a simple thought and began entering his desired powers. He typed: "Cultivator: Qi refinement, 5th realm," followed by "1st circle sorcerer.", and more changes

Suddenly, his stats updated, combining into one coherent system. He checked them over:

Rain looked at his status, impressed by the combination of abilities he had carefully chosen. He didn't need any other overpowered abilities or stat increases. The abilities he selected would allow him to grow infinitely and live a long life, just as he intended.

'This is all I needed,' Rain thought. 'These four abilities will help me grow without limits. The Qi refinement, the sorcery, the elf body—everything fits perfectly.'

Although Rain had originally planned to add more abilities, becoming a Cultivator in a world of swords and magic consumed more causality points than he expected. The world wasn't designed for cultivation, so it made sense that altering reality to accommodate it would come at a higher cost.

'Being an Elf will give me a longer life and natural beauty,' Rain smiled, realizing that the elf's pure body would make both Qi and mana training easier. With a deep breath, he pressed the "Confirm" button, finalizing his edit.

In an instant, his body transformed. His ears elongated, his hair turned a vibrant blonde, and his once average face became extraordinarily handsome. His eyes shifted to a deep, captivating blue, and his skin felt smoother, softer, as if glowing with purity. His true potential had been hidden under his previous, unkempt appearance. Now, his reflection would rival an idol.

Rain marveled at the changes in his body, but more than that, he felt the energies surging within him. Mana flowed through his veins, circulating around his heart even as a first-circle sorcerer. And in his lower abdomen, his dantian began to swirl with pure, almost divine Qi, signaling his transformation into a Cultivator.

'I can feel it,' Rain thought, focusing intently on the energies. 'The Qi isn't just flowing through my body—it's connected to my soul.'

Satisfied, he opened his profile and added an image of his new face. His reflection, now far more handsome, fit the idol persona he imagined.

With a burst of excitement, Rain called out, "Goddess Tyriel, I've finished customizing my avatar! Can you send me now?"

The goddess, hovering above the gathered souls, looked down at Rain in surprise. Most people had barely started their edits, yet Rain had used up all 100 of his causality points in under 30 minutes. The fact that he had balanced everything perfectly left her amazed.

"Wait patiently, my child—or should I call you Rain now?" Tyriel spoke, her voice warm yet amused. "Rain, I will send you to my world, but you must wait. I'm not finished explaining the status window, and many souls haven't even begun editing."

Rain nodded, though his excitement still lingered. He sat quietly, already content with his decisions. Sure, he hadn't had the chance to choose his spiritual root or cultivation method, but just becoming a Cultivator was enough. He felt confident in his path.

As the goddess continued her explanation, she gestured toward Rain, making him glow with divine energy. "My children, as you can see, one among you has already finished using up all of his causality points. Observe how drastically his appearance has changed."

The glowing aura surrounding Rain attracted the attention of everyone in the room. Whispers filled the air as people admired his transformation. Some recognized him as an Elf, thanks to their knowledge of fantasy stories and anime. Others, especially the older crowd, thought he had simply become a handsome, pointy-eared European.

Following Rain's example, many people started changing their appearances, editing their status windows rapidly. Some chose to make themselves younger or more beautiful, while others opted for different races such as vampires or demons.

Goddess Tyriel, however, was not pleased by some of the transformations. She gasped as she noticed a few individuals altering their forms into those of races that were enemies to her world.

"Oh no! My children, do not change your race to those of dirty blood!" Tyriel called out in panic, quickly reverting those who had become vampires or demons back to humans. "Vampires require humanoid blood to survive, and they'll die within three months without it. Demons will be hunted by the church and can't enter human cities! Just… focus on adding abilities to make yourselves stronger, okay?"

The crowd, realizing the disadvantages of choosing such races, nodded in agreement, reverting to more favorable choices. Some grumbled, but most returned to editing their abilities instead of changing their race.

Two hours passed, and Rain sat in a lotus position, meditating quietly to feel the foreign energies of Qi and mana flowing within him. The sensation was thrilling, and he couldn't wait to fully explore both paths of power.

Finally, Goddess Tyriel spoke once more, her voice clear and authoritative. "It seems most of you have finalized your edits. Some of you used all your points, while others kept them for emergencies. I understand your caution, and I respect your choices."

She waved her hand, opening a portal of light before the souls. The portal shimmered with an ethereal glow, blocking any view of what lay on the other side.

"Please, save my world with the power I have bestowed upon you. Once the Demon Overlord is defeated, you will be forced back to Earth. Some of you have abilities that this world cannot handle for long—abilities that might tempt you toward evil. I won't name names, but I trust you'll resist those temptations. Good luck, my dear children."

With a final, warm wave, Tyriel sent everyone through the portal. Rain, along with the others, was sucked into the glowing vortex, ready to face his new life in a world filled with magic, cultivation, and endless possibilities. His heart raced as the light enveloped him, his adventure just beginning.
