As Zephyrine and Kendrick stood there in silence, Zephyrine's phone rang, breaking the silence. She smiled a little and pulled away from Kendrick, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
"Hello?" she answered, her voice still shaking with emotion.
"Zephyrine, it's Richard," the voice on the other end said. "I have some great news for you. Your certificate is ready. You can come collect it anytime."
Zephyrine's eyes widened in surprise, and she turned to Kendrick, who was watching her trying to figure out why she was smiling. She was crying a minute ago out of joy, but the next second, she was smiling.
"Really?" she asked, trying to contain her excitement.
"Yes, really," Richard replied. "You've worked hard for this, Zephyrine. I'm proud of you." Why would he be proud of her when he was almost the person behind it all? But it was also due to Zephyrine's effort.
