Chapter 6 - Black Star University

After three days, Seven was set to join Black Star University. It was Enrollment Day already, and every youngster who was interested in joining the university was urged to visit today. If they failed to make an enrollment today, then Seven would have to wait until next year before the next Enrollment.

His mother helped him pack up his belongings while he refreshed and got dressed up early on the Monday morning. Central Ave City wasn't really far from Emerald City, they only wanted to be amongst the first people to be attended to.

It was the Enrollment Day that happened once a year, and there were a lot of people at the University.

"Your father asked me not to go with you, but I insisted. He promised to punish me, but I don't care," Siggy said while she packed up.

Seven was almost done dressing, so she could turn to his direction and speak.

"Why?" Seven couldn't help but ask.

"Because I'm tired of not treating you like my son, unlike your brothers. No matter what, I should still care for you," Siggy said with a breaking voice.

Seven nodded slightly. Her statement had touched his heart, indeed, but he only tried to show no emotion.

"Be quick. Black Star University is owned by the Triple Order Government and requires lower fees, unlike every other university. There are surely going to be a lot of people who are coming for the enrollment," Siggy advised.

"I understand, mom. I'm almost done with the shoes," Seven replied as he wore his shoes in haste.

With his mother done with the packing, she sat at the edge of his bed and waited. When he was done, she helped with the big bag that contained his clothes and some little accessories while he carried what seemed like a schoolbag... The only difference was the box-like structure of the bag, which could contain a lot of books.

When they walked out of the house, Seven noticed his father sitting on a huge platform at one corner of the house. There, he observed them with a cold gaze, making Seven heart sink repeatedly.

"Common, don't worry. Let's go," Siggy who had noticed Eduard as well, persuaded Seven to look away and keep walking.

They walked out of the house and made their way into the streets. A Monday morning was normally busy at all times, but the Enrollment Day Event across the country added to the liveliness.

Today was different, unlike other Mondays.

It was unfortunate that Siggy never had a flying Vessel, it could have been useful at this moment. Seven, who had a Golden-horned Silver-furred Cat, seemed to have the most unfortunate story since it was still a very small cat, barely the size of a bowl.

Cat-type Vessels were barely used for transportation anyway.

They had to reach Central Ave City through a cab, but it took a while before they could find one. Many cabs were filled up before they could even reach the next parks as there were a large number of people going to Central Ave City.

Not only Central Ave City had a Vanquishing University, there were three other universities in the country, but Central Ave's Black Star seems to be the university with the most attendance today.

What could one have expected? They had cheap billings, unlike other universities.

When Seven and his mother finally got a cab, they had to share the space with two more people. It was fine since having a lot of people in the cab made the transport fee a little cheaper.

It took less than two hours before they arrived at Black Star University. This university was located in a large land area around the countryside just to suit the level of its population.

They passed through a giant gate that almost reached the sky, but the beauty of the walls around them seemed to have a flaw. The walls were beginning to crack, and the gate was almost rusted out. If one didn't know about this university, one would think that it was an abandoned fort after taking a look.

But it was a university. Black Star University! The symbol of the university could be spotted at the top of the gate, but it never took Seven's attention. In his mind were regrets and sadistic thoughts that caused his heart to sink, just as it always did.

When they entered the university, Siggy led Seven to the Vice Chancellor's office. They had to wait for about forty minutes before it reached their turn to meet the vice chancellor, and when they did, it was only a short meeting, but an extraordinary one.

"Good day, ma'am. You brought your son for enrollment?" The vice chancellor asked.

"Yes, vice chancellor. My son is here to be registered," Siggy smiled at the vice chancellor and switched her gaze to Seven. However, Seven seemed to be staring blankly in pointless directions.

It was clear that he didn't like to be in such a university. But he had a choice after all.

"I'm Vice Chancellor Alexander Fox, what's your name, boy?" The vice chancellor turned to Seven and asked.

"I'm Seven... Seven Hermes," Seven replied coldly and looked away.

"Seven? Hmm, that's a weird name," the vice chancellor reacted with raised brows and smiled right after, then he returned his attention to Siggy.

"So, Mrs Hermes, what Vessel has your son vanquished?"

Siggy hesitated for a moment and spoke.

"A Cat-type Vessel. A Golden-horned Silver-furred Cat," she said with a hint of shame, but she was still bold in her words.

However, the vice chancellor's face had turned pale at that instant.

"What? A Cat-type Vessel?! We don't have a teacher for such Course in this university, unfortunately," the vice chancellor sighed. "The Vessels of the Cat Family are terribly underrated and neglected, why would he have to vanquish one?"

"Because he actually couldn't vanquish a different type," Siggy explained, a dismal look on her face. "Please, vice chancellor. Help my son get a Cat-type Vessel Course teacher, I'm ready to pay any amount."

Siggy had to persuade the vice chancellor to accept Seven since this was his last hope of becoming a Vanquisher. He really needed to enter the university.

Vice Chancellor Alexander Fox hesitated for a while and sighed. His face seemed to have gotten a little bright.

"Alright. I will try my best. This is the second time we are getting a student with a Cat-type Vessel today which is probably strange since we haven't gotten any in years. However, it has convinced me to create a space for the Cat-type Vessels in this university," the vice chancellor said.

Hearing what he had said, Siggy smiled in relief and stared at her son. The joy in her heart was literally inexpressible.

Now, Seven, the useless Cat-type Vessel Vanquisher, would be enrolled in Black Star University.
