Chapter 5 - Ambition

That day, Seven was both sad and disappointed.

With his father asking him to leave, he left his chamber and walked straight to his room. Fortunately for him, the room was tidy and well-arranged even though he was away. The servants his father brought after the Civil War three years ago must have been urged to take care of the room until he was back.

Seven knew that those orders could only come from his mother... His father doesn't care if he lives or dies.

Sitting on his bed, Seven heaved a sigh of frustration.

"How can I go to such a university? It's only going to be a waste of time," he clenched his fist slightly.

Most Vanquishing Universities aren't just good enough to bring out the best of Vanquishers. These were the universities with cheaper fees, just like Black Star University in Central Ave, a city located next to Emerald City.

The top universities, which had huge fees, were considered the best universities that produced quality Vanquishers every year. They had geniuses as teachers and had the best level of strongest Vanquishers as masters and mistresses.

Just like DragonFang University which is well-known to everyone in the entire Terraverde, the Chancellor of the university was a Master-tier Vanquisher who had spent a decade in the Badlands.

Because of this, everyone wanted to go to DragonFang University, believing that they could get a good Vanquishing education, unlike other universities.

Seven's brothers had been enrolled in this university as well, and they had reportedly been doing quite well.

However, unfortunately for him, he wouldn't be joining them due to vanquishing a Vessel that was regarded as a useless one.

A useless Vanquisher and a useless Vessel.

His father believed that they actually had nothing to offer.

MEOW! MEOW!

"Why are you humans so foolish and short-sighted?! I am not as weak as you all think!"

The Golden-horned Silver-furred Cat became furious after overhearing what Seven's father had said. Somehow, the Cat possessed the ability to understand human language, but only Seven could understand its language...

"Yes, of course, I'm beginning to believe you. But my father wouldn't until you prove yourself," Seven said.

MEOW!

"Then, how can I prove myself?" The Cat asked.

Seven nodded twice before dropping a response.

"By improving incredibly with me, evolve, come out with flying colors from Black Star University, and become the first Cat-type Vessel to become a Beast through a Vanquisher."

Indirectly, Seven was actually talking to himself. He was the Vanquisher, so it was his duty to assist the Vessel to gain Evo Units to evolve.

He had the ambition to make the Golden-horned Silver-furred Cat the first Cat-type Vessel to become a Beast.

Although there were many Cat-type Vessel that had evolved to become Beasts, these Vessels didn't achieve that growth through a Vanquisher. They only came in the apocalypse that way...

MEOW!

"I can do anything to prove my worth. That's why I want to fight a Dragon!"

Hearing the cat's ridiculous statement again, Seven chuckled and patted its head.

"You will fight a Dragon surely, but not now. Not in this stage," he said.

He then dropped the cat on the tiled floor of his room and rested on the bed. At that moment, Seven started wondering how his life at Black Star University would be.

Normally, he had an ambition to enter the Badlands when he finally became an Advanced-tier Vanquisher... However, the bitter truth was that students who came from low-class universities like Black Star were mostly disallowed to receive the trial opportunity in the ruined lands, much less the Entry Ticket of the Badlands.

There were just a few differences between this kind of Vanquishers and the ordinary humans who couldn't vanquish a Vessel.

In the end, these Vanquishers only joined the army of their nation, fighting devastating wars across the planet until the very last day of their lives.

Meanwhile, those who entered the Badlands struggled to obtain large portions of lands, slaves, and Vessels, becoming Barons, Emperors, Kings, or Lords.

While Seven lay on his bed and pondered, his mother walked in with slow and steady steps.

On her face were glints of pity and sadness, revealing the bad feeling she had for her son's despair.

Seven noticed her presence and sat up in an instant, then she walked over and sat next to him, on his small bed.

"I feel for you, my son. I know your father's approach to you must be hunting you down. But you have to be strong... In life, there will always be hard times," Siggy spoke.

"My father disowned me when I was at your age. I couldn't vanquish a Vessel as well... It was until I slayed the White Three-tailed Python that he finally agreed to accept me as his daughter. However, the truth was that I never killed the Python with a fight, it was half-dead when I discovered it."

Seven turned to his mother and shrugged.

"Yes, it only recovered after the vanquishing process, and I was lucky. Now, the White Three-tailed Python is one of the strongest Vessels in the entire family, even though I attended a low-class University due to my family being poor."

Seven sighed.

"You have to believe in yourself and stand with your goal. If you work hard regardless of the kind of vanquishing teachings you get, you will surely achieve your goals."

Siggy advised while caressing her son's cheeks. Her advice actually made sense to Seven, and he had decided to stay strong, no matter what. He was never giving up in the first place after all.

"Now I want you to promise me," Siggy said.

"What?" Seven asked, curious.

"I want you to come out with a first-class score in Black Star University."

It was really tasking to receive such an urge, but Seven didn't have a problem with it at all.

That was what he wanted in the first place. He wanted to emerge as the best student in the university and prove to everyone that he wasn't useless.

Every single individual that teased and mocked him.

"I promise I will do my best to obtain a first-class score at Black Star University."

"Now that's my son!" Siggy smiled emotionally and gave him a hug.

Then, after she left, he stared down at his Cat, who had been watching them talk.

"After that, I will dominate the universe with my Vessel whom they claimed to be useless..."

"And then, I will become the first Ultimate-tier Vanquisher!"
