After killing the Two-headed Buffalos, Seven and Rolanda decided to continue their journey deep into Sagemount. They made sure not to waste time lurking around as they knew that the lecturers would surely try to find them...
Seven didn't want his plan to fail...
MEOW!
"Okay! Now share the Evo Units!"
Whisky requested as they walked.
Seven spared it a glance and sighed...
He was about to respond when Rolanda spoke.
"Did you understand what he just said?"
Seven rolled his eyes in her direction and shook his head.
"No," he had to lie. "I guess he is just asking for food, but I have no idea what he just said."
Rolanda blinked. "Let him have some of the Buffalo meat. I heard eating the meat of some Vessels gives Evo Units. We could just check and see if it's true."
Although that wasn't what Whisky asked for, Seven agreed to let Whisky feast on the Buffalo for a while. It was clear that Whisky was hungry after all, and it wasn't a bad idea to just let him eat to his satisfaction.
There was a great mission ahead.
Rolanda also let Zara feast on the Buffalo as well, as she appeared hungry.
Seven and Rolanda stood and watched their Vessels gnaw the raw meat and flesh of the fallen Two-headed Buffalos, and it was pretty exciting to observe this moment.
Nothing was more amazing than seeing a Vessel lying lifeless beneath your feet after being slain by you...
It was a great feeling for them.
Just while the Vessels ate, Seven observed the area and suddenly spotted small lights from the distance. It was as if these lights were approaching in a queue, and if observed properly, they were progressing through the pathway.
The same way he and Rolanda were.
"Rolanda, look!"
Seven quickly showed Rolanda the approaching lights.
"It must be the lectures and the other students. We have to get going," Seven added.
"Sure," Rolanda quickly reacted with action and ordered Zara to come with her.
'Hey buddy, we have to go now.'
Seven told Whisky immediately.
MEOW!
"I wasn't full though!"
Seven ignored him as they ran through the pathway and continued progressing. Ahead of them was a colossal mountain that spread across a large area of Sagemount, but they continued moving ahead.
This was just the first of many they would have to climb, but they were ready for it...
'Did you get an Evo Unit after eating the Buffalo's meat?' Seven asked Whisky inwardly as they walked.
MEOW!
"No..."
Seven nodded. He thought about it and understood that he would have gotten a notification if Whisky actually gained any...
Well, maybe the belief of gaining Evo Units from dead Vessels' meat was a myth, he guessed.
MEOW!
"Now share the Evo Units, master!"
Whisky didn't drop his pursuit of receiving his Evo Units this time.
MEOW!
"You promised to give me more, remember?"
Seven's heart almost sank upon hearing that.
'Well, I will give you three...'
[You have successfully shared the 6 Evo Units with your Vessel, Whisky.]
[Your Vessel, Whisky has gained 3 Evo Units.]
[Whisky's Evo Units: 5/100.]
[Your Evo Units: 9/100.]
'Are you happy now?' Seven asked.
MEOW!
"No, you cheated. You promised me more."
'Ah, shit...'
MEOW!
"You should learn how to keep promises, master!"
Seven heard the smart cat speak and shrugged it off.
'Whatever...'
Whisky decided not to persuade his master to fulfill his promise anymore as he had gained three Evo Units. It was better than nothing, because he knew that his master could decide not to give him any of it, and there was nothing he would do.
It was just that Seven also needed Whisky to evolve. He knew that he wouldn't succeed alone without Whisky being able to assist.
Rolanda, on the other hand, was throwing suspicious glances at Seven and Whisky. It was pretty strange as Whisky often meowed at his master as if they were in a conversation. During that period, Seven also focused on his Vessel as if he was listening to what he was saying, which made her more and more suspicious...
'Even if he has a Vessel communication skill, he should tell me. I would never tell anyone.'
Rolanda felt like she was being left out. She was his best friend and really cared about everything about him... She only believed that Seven wasn't being real to her, or maybe he was hiding something...
No, she concluded that he was hiding a lot of things from her, but she promised herself that she would find out.
When they reached the bottom of the colossal mountain, they both had their Vessel return to their Vanquishing Space and ascend alone.
Seven insisted on leading the way, as there was only a single path on the jagged mountain. The mountain was high and terrifyingly sloppy, which warned about the possibility of falling if not climbed gently.
Rolanda decided to accept his decision and walked behind him. She knew how difficult and tiring the climbing could be, but that doesn't mean staying behind could change anything.
It was only a matter of time before they would have to find somewhere and rest... After all, it was dark.
.....
The lecturers and the Dog-type students continued their search around, tracing unknown footprints on the pathway floor. At a point, they scampered into a land where the grounds weren't sandy, but they weren't misled as they sensed that these footprints continued down the pathway.
They kept progressing until they got to a particular spot.
The spot where two dead Two-headed Buffalos lay.
"Who could have done this?" The middle-aged man wondered.
He walked around the lifeless Buffalos and observed every part of their body, and in a few seconds, his eyes had turned dark.
"Their two heads cut off? The surface of the cut looks straight as if like the cut of a sword," he said with a glare.
"A human must have done this. Maybe some Vanquishers are here to hunt Vessels," Miss Brie guessed.
"No. Permit me to say this mistress. Seven and Rolanda must have done this. You all should believe me. They must have left the camp to hunt some Vessels and vanquish them since the university doesn't agree to having more than one Vessel until we undergo our first evolution," Derek said.
*Murmurs*
The students murmured in disbelief again, but the middle-aged man ordered for silence.
"If they truly want to go against the university rules, then they would have to face the consequences. We just have to find them; perhaps you might be wrong. Who knows?"
The middle-aged man said and spared Miss Brie's worried face a glance.
"We should get going," he ordered.
With the order, the group continued to progress through the pathway in search of the two Cat-type Vanquishing students.
