Chapter 29 - Skill Upgrade

Seven and Rolanda exchanged looks as they noticed the Dog-type student approaching them.

"Do you know him?" Seven asked.

"Yes, I guess. He is Derek... Derek Skyshard. I heard he is the best in the Dog-type Vanquishing department," Rolanda responded.

Seven stared a few times and nodded.

They stood and watched Derek approach them from the distance, observing him. Seven didn't trust him approaching them without the lecturers and the other students... He knew something was wrong somewhere.

Derek managed to climb the mountain faster than they expected, which was undoubtedly the testament of his strength and endurance. Seven was a little convinced this time that he truly might be the best in the Dog-type Vanquishing department, but there was still much for him to show before Seven would believe that.

"Hey... Uhm... I just missed my way while going with the lecturers. I have been looking for them all around but couldn't find them," Derek lied as he approached them.

"No lies. Be positive," Seven glared at Derek that instant.

"What... What do you mean?" Derek still tried to cover up.

At that time, Seven heaved a sigh as his glare widened.

"That's not enough to fool me, Derek...? I know what you want, but you are never gonna get it. If you really are looking for the other students and lecturers, then you should go that way," Seven pointed at a pathway they could spot as they stood on the mountain.

"Yeah, we spotted them going through that way not quite long ago. You could meet up with them if you are quick enough," Rolanda said.

She already knew what Seven was trying to do, and had decided to make the plan more effective.

However...

Derek's face seemed to burn the moment they happened to show him that way. Accidentally, it turned out that this two actually knew where the students and the lecturers had followed.

'The blood on the way. They actually did that...'

Derek's face burned.

'I knew it!'

Derek was glad that he didn't fall for their tricks, and actually saw that all his believes were true.

'I wish they believed me.'

He thought with a slightly angered tone.

Now, he would have to take of this his own way.

"Okay. Alright. Alright..."

Derek had decided to say the truth, although his main plan was still in his mind.

"The lecturers have been searching around Sagemount since your disappearance. They have also contacted the university's rescue team, but there was no effective transport vehicle for them at the moment."

Seven: "???"

Rolanda: "..."

"Look, I know you guys have some plans, but you have to understand that it's against the rules. You both might actually get expelled as a consequence, or giving the Eviction Card."

"I don't care," Seven scoffed.

"You don't care?" Derek was stunned.

The Eviction Card is an international penalty feature to any Vanquisher. Ones they are given the Evictions, that Vanquisher would definitely be unable to get himself into any organization...

The military, a profession, or even daring to receive the test that grants entry into the Badlands.

However, Seven made it clear that he didn't care???

"Yes, we don't. Just get lost with your advice. You can tell the lecturers that you saw us around here, but unfortunately for you, we'd be gone before they could come over," Rolanda said harshly.

She had a slight mean approach attitude in her, though, as she is a child from one of the prominent families.

There approach had stunned Derek, but he expected as much from them. If they weren't bold enough to say such a thing, they wouldn't have dared to leave the camp to confront a Vessel in the inner territory all alone.

'They are as strong-hearted as I, Derek Skyshard.'

Derek frowned.

The next moment, he left them and descended back to where he had came from.

Seven and Rolanda watched him walk away without looking back, all for the purpose of seeing the next direction he would take.

Fortunately, Derek continued walking until he reached the other mountain which they could spot from the distance.

When he was fully out of sight, they both turned and continued walking their way.

Their journey continued with relentlessness, as they summoned their Vessels out of the Vanquishing Space to go with them.

It's was actually not going to be bad if they keep hunting until they reach their destination.

'Well deserved! Congratulations Smalley!'

Seven smiled.

MEOW!

"Yes! This is just the beginning... Will reach the peak!"

'Sure... Let's see!'

"Rolanda, guess what?! Whisky's skill just leveled up," Seven told Rolanda in a rush.

"WHOA, amazing! Congratulations, kitty!" Rolanda smiled at Whisky.

MEOW!

This was only what she heard from the Golden-horned Silver-furred Cat, but his master heard something else entirely.

"Just tell her not to call me KITTY anymore!"

'You are still a kitty, accept that fact.'

Seven said that and didn't say anything else. Before nighttime, they luckily managed to cross over two mountains that were quite distant from each other.

However, what had amazed them the most was the small wall of rocks they saw in the end.

"We... We have reached the mid territory," Seven smiled and crossed over right after.

******

*THUD! THUD! THUD!*

Derek Skyshard decided to use a different plan to reach the inner territories, or perhaps wherever the Kong could be seen.

After making sure that Seven and Rolanda couldn't spot him, he went a different way and at the end, discovered a lengthy road that almost looked like a cave.

Huge rocks enveloped the way from above, but this road was pretty wide and lonesome. It was also dim, but thanks to the torch lighter he held.

After a long moment of analysis, he discovered that this road led straight into the inner territory, judging by the direction. The road didn't seem to stop...

Derek hesitated for a while before making a decision.

"I'll go through it," he sighed.

Whatever that might happen, he was ready to face it!

Switching the torch on, he progressed into the caved way. With the light, he was quite able to see in the darkness.

However...

Pretty unfortunately for him, he only spent a few minutes inside this place before he met his fight challenge.

About Fifteen green-skinned beings began hulking from the near distance, causing him to froze that instant.

But with his Slash skill activated, Derek was ready to take down these bitches.

"Fuck you damned Goblins!"
